This topic usually comes up every week during tournaments with my partner/cousin. He would rather catch 10 or so 5+ pounders, where as I would rather catch 100 of any size. But when it's tournament time.......i usually change my mind

Definitely want to try drop shot. Also wanna give swimbaits and jerkbaits a shot too. I agree with Backlash_NC, breaking the worm comfort zone is tough.

Same as Fishes In Trees, I keep mine sorted by type in 2 gallon bags. I don't bring a ton of plastics with me, so this usually does the trick.

A lot of people are saying all year long and carolina rigged. Have you guys found it is more successful carolina rigged in the summer, or is it just your preference?

Central Illinois here, Galesburg area to be more specific. Mainly fish Oak Run, Snake Den, and the Mississippi.

I always start my year off with a huge bag of black power worms, usually the 100 pack. Then I buy packs of various colors to experiment with. I usually alwaysend up back to black before the end of the day.

I'm hoping that I don't watch a single Cubs game until early to mid June this year. I hope to be celebrating a Stanley Cup championship with the Blackhawks during that time. Plus by then, the Cubs season will be over anyway, so I'll start looking forward to college football.

Ok I know I'm going to sound stupid here, but it's the truth. I know very little about crankbaits. The people who got me involved in fishing rarely used crankbaits so in turn, I didn't really learn much about them. That being said, my question is this. When should you use a crankbait? Where should you use a crankbait? What are some basic models or colors?

Drive really fast down the ramp in reverse and slam on the brakes. Might want to tie a rope to the boat and to your tailgate. ;D

I agree 100% with Fishing Rhino. Find a good solid boat (good motor, looks good, solid structure) and then customize it. Get good electronics, get a powerful trolling motor, and go from there. Set aside money for those things BEFORE you purchase the boat. When I bought my boat I looked for a boat that had a trouble free motor, structure, and storage. Then I customized the rest from there to make it a better fish finding tool. Remember that you dont need to outrun the fish, just find them.

No motor on the back means a lot less weight, which will make trailering easier. Back in a little further and make sure you have a good winch to crank it up with.

I am in my third year of teaching. I teach 6th grade math and science. (I have a 55 gallon aquarium in my room with 2 bluegill and 2 black crappie) During the summer, I work as a manager/bartender at a restaurant. Look forward to hearing about everyone else!

Just curious to see if anyone has used any of the Gulp Alive products. They look interesting and I was just wondering what everyone tought.

I bought a used boat two years ago. I had never owned a boat before. I recommend having the owner of the boat or someone from the marina (I had the salesman take me) take you out on the water and show you how to run everything. And I mean everything. You can see if there are any issues with livewells, bilge pumps, TM, and other stuff you wouldn't really think of on dry land. It also gives you a chance to see how it handles and if it rides nice. Again, something you can't tell from just seein it on dry land. I had a friend buy a boat off of ebay and never actually test drove the boat. Needless to say he is less than thrilled.

My cousin and I are looking to go to Mark Twain Lake sometime this spring. Does anyone know of any good campgrounds or cabins nearby? Do they have a boat launch near by? Good prices? Thanks for the help.

First weekend I had my new boat, I was anxious and nevous to dump in myself. Go figure on a Wednesday afternoon the ramp was kinda busy. Couldn't figure out why the boat woudn't slide off the trailer. I was getting really frustrated when an older gentleman came over and unhooked the bow from the trailer......that was embarassing.

I basically use the master catalog as a teaser. Just thumb through it during my spare time. I wait to really scour the catalog when the spring angler catalog. Less clothing, footwear, hiking stuff to go through.

Before I put my boat away for the winter, I was giving everything one last look-over. When I went to check my lights, they wouldn't work. Everything else was working just fine. I did find a mouse had been in one of the compartments, but did not appear o be anywhere near the exposed wiring. Is there any way to diagnose my problem easily? If the wires are chewed up somewhere under the deck, is there an inexpensive and easy fix?

I have a 2004 G3 HP200 and my bow light quit working. I need to buy a replacement, but how do I know which is the right one? I cant find any writing on the light or the base and I dont have the manual. Which light or brand will work? Thanks in advance

My MinnKota trolling motor is a pain in the butt to put in the water. I have to pull like hell to get the pin to come out for it to deploy. The other night, I finally snapped the cord during a tournament. Two questions.....First, whats the best way to fix the cord? Tie it back on? Get a new piece of rope? Second, can I grease the trolling motor or anything like that to make it easier to put in the water? I put WD40 on the moving parts I could get to, but is there anything better to do? Thanks.
