A 17' might plane but i doubt it. With a 50 hp limit why go fiberglass? A 17' aluminum would perform much better with a 50 on it.

I started bow fishing them last year and we use dry dog food, corn, or Rice Krispies to bring them to the surface. I have a buddy that makes boilies and carp balls but that's more work than I care to put into it. He also makes some with cherry jello, flour, and corn meal but I don't know the exact mixture.

SC gives you better control IMO. Tillers can get squirrely in choppy water. The SC takes up more space in an already small boat but it's worth to me.

I'm just saying people put way too much stock in that one game. It's the best system we have but who's to say Baylor or TCU might not beat OSU or Oregon. Is VT a better team than OSU? By your logic they should be playing Oregon next week because they were clearly superior when they played. And yes, OSU has some great talent. They have a lot of players that will be drafted or walk on a pro team. How many of those will end up on a practice squad? How many get cut first year? How many Heisman candidates wash out? Tebow, Jason White, RG3 come to mind. They killed it in college, in the pros meh. Great college players aren't necessarily great pro players and vice versa. Bottom line is the system will never tell you who is the best team, just who's the best that day.

I love these conference fan boy discussions. This game or that game doesn't prove or disprove a conference's superiority. The fact that every game is a possible upset is what makes it worth watching. Oregon lost to Arizona who came within 8 yards and a lucky call of losing to UTSA. LSU beat WI but lost by 34 to AU who lost in OT to WI. VT beat OSU and lost to everybody else. Bama beat WVU who beat Baylor. Any of the above might beat OSU or Oregon if they played today. In the college game you have 3-4 players on the field who have what it takes to succeed in the NFL and 18 guys that will be selling life insurance in 5 years. With players like that desire and momentum play a huge role and can make any outcome possible.

Neoprene vests are more comfortable to me. I wear an inflatable for fishing but I bought several Body Glove ski vests for others to use and haven't heard any complaints. I believe they were about $30 at Sams or Costco.

It's not hard to install if you're mechanically inclined. I put one on my old Colt in maybe 30 minutes. Most are drop in but I have heard of people having to file the shaft to get a good fit.

Any wimp can stand in a boat and fish. Real men jump in with a rod for hand to hand combat.

If you like the Springfield you can put a Colt, Kimber, or Wilson ambi safety on it.

I suggest a St Croix 6'9" MLXF. I have an LTB but from the Mojo up they are nice rods.

I know age is relative but you don't have to be an "old timer" to remember 4.x:1 ratios. I still have original Bantams and a 3.8 Curado.

The best solution is to live somewhere that doesn't suck. Down here the water stays soft year round.

I got my masters then my CPA. I found working in finance for larger companies the degree was more important to them than the certification. If her goal is really to be a CFO, I highly recommend she get an MBA and MPA. It doesn't require that much more course work and the MBA helps in advancing to upper management.

I lived on Lanier several years ago. I always caught them on dropshot and float and fly this time of year. Location is the key, you have to find bait with fish under them. A jigging spoon is also great for the suspended spots.
