  1. Think I'll wait until the gimmicky smell goes away. Tight Lines!!!
  2. Yup. Look in your local phone directory for rod repair or custom rod builders in your area. Talk to them about the repair. It would be alot cheaper than trying to ship it all over the US trying to find a long distance repair.. Just my .02¢ Tight Lines !!!
  3. dodgeguy, I have to agree with that statement 100%, and, I will go one further and say, most rod failures after the 6th outing are user related.Good Luck All & Tight Lines!!!
  4. Hey flechero, You know the people at All Star, and a few more folks that handle the All Star blanks, got this question for you.. Since All Star was sold over 4 years ago, and the new company backing has been in production since then. How do you know when you have one of the actual old All Star rods, and not one of the newer Shakespeare backed All Star rods. You would think that the older rods built by the original company would have run their course by now, and not be anywhere in the marketplace. Its the same with Loomis and Shimano.
  5. I personally would be checking into the SC1 glass CB rods in their line up... Tight Lines!!!
  6. Looks Great! I turned that grip a little oversized for a better grip on the hook set, being as the rod is a little shorter and more backbone. Should be a jaw buster of a hook set, set your drags accordingly, and for lack of stretch. Tight Lines!!!!!
  7. Wow this is weird.. I have never heard of selling reconditioned rods, not even re-mod rods. The only thing I would suspect as being a reconditioned rod would be if a couple of inches of tip was repaired, or if the guides popped the ceramic rings and new guides were wrapped on, or the reel seat came lose and had to be re-set. Noticed this quote.... Factories don't take the time to rebuild blanks were the tips have been broken. I think this might be the guys personal rod, and he put a replacement tip on the rod.Tight Lines!!!!
  8. Maybe you should have read a little closer.. Tight Lines All!!!!
  9. flechero, Great work it gets a big 10 I hear ya on the exotic burl, although most of my builds have been tip heavies. Seems like the guys around here have gotten away from the neutral balanced rods, and back to being able to point the rod tip each cast..I feel like i'm always playing catchup with these anglers... Great Rod Enjoy G3 8-) Tight Lines!!!
  10. From what I can see Keith has been doing some fine work. How was the rod wrapped? Spiral or Conventional. Keith how did you achieve a neutral balance? What are the color's? I see some blue... Great Job Keith! Tight Wraps!!!
  11. A large majority of rack rods found in the outfitter style stores are fast action tips some even extra fast, although most have a difference's to some degree. Always check the rods spec decal at the foregrip. Also as suggested here take your reel with you and feel the fit and balance no matter what brand your looking at. Good Luck & Tight Lines!!!
  12. Burley, I have had bass empty the contents of their stomachs in my live well at times. But never heard of milking a bass' stomach to check the contents for possible tells of what they are biting on. I would think, unless you knew exactly what you were doing, you stood a good chance of injuring the fish handling them. Not worth it IMPO. Tight Lines!!!
  13. I agree..100% 5min waterproof
  14. While I have only built one rod in that blank S370MLF2, I build a lot in the Avid and Premier blanks. I think the difference you would feel would be in the tip section of the rods they are different mandrels giving the rods different tapers, and I have found the Premier tip actions softer than the Avid of the same tip action. Either way I would recommend that you take the Stradic, to a/the store and feel each rod with the reel mounted.. Tight Lines!!!

Try re-posting your question up in the Fishing Tackle Section. You'll get more info there .... Tight Lines!!!!
  16. This one should stop right here right now. Posting a bashing contest on a public forum was in bad taste by the original poster, it all should have been taken care of privately. As RW stated we have already been through all that, and this one should stop now also. Nuff said!!!
  17. Great points flechero, this is almost like the Falcon bashing thread.. Tight Lines !!
  18. Most e-mails to busy companies get lost in the cracks. I would call them direct..Okuma Fishing Tackle, Corp. 2310 E. Locust Court Ontario, CA 91761 phone: (909) 923-2828 fax: (909) 923-2909 1-800-GO-OKUMA 1-800-466-5862 Just my .02¢ Good Luck & Tight Lines!!!
  19. kb, you do know that once you change/modify the rod that the warranty will be void. I will warn be extra careful not to nick the blank while doing the work, this will likely be the spot you would have a failure at. Rod Building Resources Good luck.....
  20. Well put Raul, I agree 100% Tight Lines!!!
