I need a sticker!!!
As a rod builder I use a lot of custom graphics in decal form. I can tell you that to get the Shimano® Font, in the size that the factory sells or any other manufacturers decal, you have to have written permission from the manufacturer to have the decals made by any other graphics company. That's why I went straight to the factory for the ones I have in my supply store, they are the heavy duty decals die cut from weather resistant vinyl, made just for boats and tow vehicles. Braid for all?
rboat88h, Is your line snapping on all of your riggs, or just one or two of them? If it has been letting go on all of your riggs, I would suspect bad spools of line.. On the other hand, if it is only letting go on one or two of your riggs, I would suspect a bad guide or two on the rod/s, and even suspect a bad ceramic line guide on the reels. Check those Items for cracks and damage using a Q-tip... Run it through the suspected ceramics, if there is cotton fibers left behind, that indicates a cracked rod guide or line carriage ceramic, that could be the reason your line is snapping. Another rod for the rack
8-) Just finished up this rod, SC368MXF, using Lamar Exotic Burnt Burl, and Lamar Exotic Laguna Burl accents for the split grips, Fuji ECS Seat, Spiral wrapped Fuji Alconite Guides, and Marbled the split. Here is a close up of the marbled area between the split grip. Used Silver, Gray, and a splash of White. This rod will neutral balance a Revo S Tight Wraps All!!

Line suggestions for Antique/Vintage Rod and Reel?
That's far out! But instead of guessing here why not contact St. Croix directly... Give them the same information about the rod, and ask them what line might have been used then. My guess would be Dacron. St. Croix of Park Falls, Ltd. 856 4th Avenue North PO Box 279 Park Falls, WI 54552 PH: (715) 762-3226 FX: (715) 762-3293 TF: (800) 826-7042 Good Luck & Tight Lines!!!

Cork issues
I use cork dust and a 2 part rod epoxy. Mix a paste and force into the pits when cured then using from 60grt to 200grt to sand and smooth out the filler. Then use the U-40 Cork Sealer to seal and protect.Sorry I don't have any in my supply shop had a customer buy up the last yesterday. I do have more on order. Good Luck & Tight Lines!!!

Cork issues
If they were my rods I would be replacing cork rings on the grips that have shrunk, and on grips that are just pitted and gouged I would be filling pits and roughing up the surfaces on all grips with a 60grit. Then I would apply a coat of U-40 Cork Sealer. So this didn't happen again....Just my .02¢ Good Luck & Tight Lines!!!!

Comments on spiral wrap casting rod/split grip
I think that was a big boat rod in that setup, a 10 or 12 size bumper is a big guide. Here is a look at a 5'6" bumper wrapped to the left, pistol grip rod, the butt guide is a #10 size, the bumper a #7 single foot, and the running guides are #6 single foot guides out to the tip top. Tight Wraps!!!

Comments on spiral wrap casting rod/split grip
You keep making mention of the bumper guide on the simple spiral being a distraction. You have me curious as to what size guides you put on this rod? Plus you could have used the O-Quinn style of spiral that would have used multiple guides in the transition of the line to the bottom.

Modifing a factory rod?
Loomis has a nasty habit of building rods that are proprietary to them, and not offering the blank to builders. They have been doing that for years, and even more now that Shimano® owns Loomis®.... Shikäri® is defunked sold to be no more, that's why the site isn't working. They were bought out by one of the Loomis brothers, and 3 partners to start ATC.Tight Lines!!!!

Anyone Ever Heard of This Rod?
I'm not sure that a no questions asked replacement policy means anything more than that you're dealing with a rod that isn't very expensive to build, has had the price jacked up to include several free replacements, or employs a design that makes the rod very durable at the cost of being far less efficient. Most all the rod companies have very good warranties if you're dealing with actual defects. When companies start offering to replace any rod due to any breakage - watch out. There is no free lunch - such a warranty comes at some price, either in cost, design, performance, or all three....... Tight Lines!!!!!

Spiral Wrapped Guides
lubina, Nope it is just placement of the bumper guide. Branuss04, I am always building rods... I agree here and will add, if you load the MedHvy and Hvy power rods spiral wrapped with enough weight, you will surly notice a big difference in the way the rod works for you.. Only load a MH and H power spiraled rod with less weight and like T-Mike, and George stated you will notice very little difference. Tight Lines!!!

Rod gurus...question
The IM ratings on your rods, only mean that the one rod with the higher IM rating, is built with a fiber that stretches more than the other The main difference between the two rods is the length. 6" in tip length can change a lot of things along with blank taper, in a rod... I doubt any of your rods are miss marked... Tight Lines!!!!

Spiral Wrapped Guides
Branuss04, Yup its been around for a long time. Out there in Calif. you might find them easier by asking for Acid Wrap rods that is what they were called by builders there. There are some manufacturers that build a spiral/revolving guide setup.... Quantum is one, with the Gary Klein Signature PTC808FGK flippin stick, it is revolver/spiral wrapped. The manufacturers can't build very extensively in this area because it takes to much time to set up, and you cannot just use a spacing chart to do so. Each rod is flexed and spaced accordingly to the static flex. Good Luck & Tight Lines!!!!

All Star Instint?
Single foot guides when properly mounted/wrapped are no weaker than double foot guides and a butt load lighter. How can you tell what the tip in that product shot looks like, looks like a tip top to me. The warranty isn't a no questions asked warranty just like most good rod manufacturers carry. Remember that AllStar Rod's is owned by Shakespeare®, and G-Loomis® is now owned by Shimano® Tight Lines!!!

Modifing a factory rod?
IndianaKid, Modify this blank, make one mistake, and you are stuck with a messed up rod. Loomis will not support modifications on rack rods. Modify this rod and the feelings it had that made you pick it will change, and not necessarily for the better. Maybe you need to check the line-ups of some of the other blank manufacturers for something close.... I would call and see. The very worst that could happen is they say NO. You never know they might cut lose of a blank but you are likely to have to pay full retail for it.flechero, The list is located on the sponsor list to the left of the RBO website "Tackleworks"Good Luck & Tight Wraps!!!

Cork handle coming apart
Bream Master, Yup sure did. The grip can be repaired but it is costly and time consuming. If it is a Loomis I would have the rod replaced. If it is another manufacturer' I would contact them about warranty replacement of the rod.. Good Luck & Tight Lines!!!

Tip of the day - DIY rod protector
jb_adams, Great Tip.... That section of the rod has an extra layer of finish at the keeper and over the decal. So the tape won't remove any of the decal, and the extra layer is suppose to keep heavy scratches and nicks from reaching the blanks fibers. There is no reason why your idea wouldn't work, for a little more protection from hooks in that area. You are right, I don't like when a hook is placed into the striper/butt guide, the hooks tend to gouge and nick the guide shock rings and can be a problem with mono. Tight Lines!!!!
