    Welcome!
  2. Good job, Dude! My wife's parents live in Sedalia. Where is that pond located? That's a nice fish.
  3. Nice fish, RottManK9! Welcome back!
  4. Oh my , my! That is one fat fish. Congratulations!

  7. That's cool, Dominick! Nice work, Kent!
  8. Oh, Dude, that's too bad. Whiteman is really close to Truman Lake - 55,000 acres of paradise! So were you in the air force then?

  10. I fish mostly stained to highly stained water, and I fish spinnerbaits with at least one Colorado blade most of the time. I believe that Colorado thump leads fish to find the bait in the water clarity that I fish. Last weekend I fished a spinnerbait with a single gold Colorado in water with a visibility of 6 - 8 inches. When visibility is 1 to 2 feet I usually opt for a small Colorado followed by a willowleaf blade. I also will occasionally use two Colorado blades, or a Colorado followed by an Indiana blade depending on what is working. In clearer conditions I'll break out the double willowleafs. Generally, when the water is cold (40s and lower) I'm using a large Colorado blade and doing a slow roll, yo-yo, or fishing it mid-depths.
  11. I accept that the equipment I currently own is "satisfactory," but I still desire other tools of the trade. On the other hand, my wife is more than satisfied (or maybe that's dissatisfied) with the amount of fishing equipment I own.
  12. Yes, I have sent him emails at approximately the same times I've PM'd him.
  13. That is a fat one. Congratulations!
  14. Roger always had something informative or intriguing to say. He hasn't posted a comment since May of last year. Many of the newer people won't even know who he is. I thought he made a great contribution to this forum. I hope he returns.
  15. Though I don't think color matters much relative to other factors, it is a minor characteristic of your presentation.
  16. I don't see this as an ongoing trend unless the economy either collapses or remains in the doldrums for a number of years. As the baby boomer generation gets older the angling population among the younger set has been decreasing. See the following thread: http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1237225341
  17. Sweet! Kudos to you, CJ, for taking your boys out on the water.
  18. I agree with those who say that color is not the most important factor in catching fish. There are rules of thumb about using colors as stated by Mottfia, but always be willing to try something "outside of the box." For example, most of my jig fish are caught on black/blue jigs with black/blue trailers but the crawfish in my area are more of a green/brown color. Go figure. The best thing to do is to have some dark colors, some light colors, and some in-between colors (green, watermelon, green-pumpkin, etc.). You don't have to go out and try to buy every color available. Starting out, just buy a couple in each category and make them work for you.
  19. I am trying KVD Line and Lure Conditioner for the first time this Spring. I tried it for the first time last weekend and it made a very noticeable difference in my casting distance and coiling with my monofilament and hybrid lines (Suffix Elite and Yo Zuri Hybrid Ultrasoft respectively). I mainly pitch and flip with my rod that has braid so I really wasn't able to test with that line. I want to test this product for a few weeks before I confirm my approval, but so far, so good. I sprayed it on a rag and ran the line through it while spooling as recommended by some. I didn't notice much of a difference from doing this. From my observations, I don't think this provides a thorough soaking to actually condition the line very much. So I sprayed it on the spools the night before I went out. Then, on my first cast with each rod, I sprayed it on the spool before I reeled in the line from the cast so that some conditioning could occur down deep in the spooled line. After doing this I did not have to re-treat for the whole trip and I was out for 6 hours. I was able to cast further and coils were greatly reduced. We'll see how this goes over the next few weeks.
  20. I don't know if I would fish there. One of the main joys of fishing for me is communing with nature. I would have a difficult time doing that in a polluted, trashed lake like the one you described. However, to try to answer your question, I would make note of deep holes, ditches, and other structure when the water is low. Then when the tide comes in I would fish the structure I had found.
  21. Let's hope the trend continues even after the economy recovers!
  22. That's cool, Big-O! Fishing is a great opportunity to spend quality time with children.
  23. Welcome, Rob!
