Hello, again! I made a post on your thread yesterday but I don't belong to a club so I didn't respond to your poll. We have some other female anglers on this site also. One is a professional angler. I hope you enjoy it here. Welcome.
  2. That is completely unacceptable! Depending on the severity of the threats I would be tempted to involve the law.
  3. Wow! That is a huge difference in temperature. I would bet that a temperature differential like that will occur only in the Spring when the first few inches of water receive heat while the depths are still very cold from the Winter. In the Fall, when the surface cools enough to result in turnover and the water mixes, I don't see this happening. I would be really curious to see what happens in the summer when the water temps reach the 80s and even the 90s on the surface. Does anyone have any readings from this time period?
  4. You are correct, M Starr. That word, respectful, is the difference maker. I hope everyone realizes I'm not condoning "attacking" the moderators and Glenn. I think they do a fantastic job!
  5. Nice thread, Catt, and great information to prod our thinking, Paul.
  6. I like our moderators and I like Glenn. I think they do a great job with a huge 20,000 member forum. Having said that, I agree with Muddy and SirSnookalot. No one should start a thread that could lead to a political discussion. Many of us have managed businesses in everyday life. If someone calls you out publicly and they are correct, a real leader doesn't hold a grudge or seek revenge. As a manager, when you make a mistake, you apologize publicly when called out. That's one sign of a good leader. Our moderators manage this forum. I think these guys are man enough to handle being called out in a respectful manner.
  7. Welcome back, Steve! Now stick around.
  8. Welcome to the community, Tommy!
  9. Welcome to the forum!
  10. Has anyone heard from Roger lately? I've sent him a couple of PMs, though they were a few months apart, but I've received no response. I hope he and his family are OK.
  11. Welcome to the community!
  12. Nice plump one there, CJ!
  13. Welcome to the forum, Izzy3374!
  14. In my younger days I would swim a mile a few times every summer. I can still swim pretty good so I could swim 200 yards, though with clothes on it would definitely be tougher. As others have said, hypothermia is the killer. In my area right now, the water is just getting into the 40s. I would not want to be in that water no matter how far I could swim.
  15. Welcome to the community, Kelly!
  16. Yes, I just didn't know if you needed any room to walk between the boat and the sides of the garage.
  17. http://www.kansascity.com/sports/outdoors/story/1086704.html This article was in the Kansas City Star yesterday. It sounds like we all need to be pitching in to introduce more of our youth to fishing. Not only that, but we need to be making efforts to encourage their continued participation in the sport. This is much easier said than done, as I know that between work and our immediate families many of us have very little time left. Anything that we can do in the time available to us is better than doing nothing at all. If you click on the link, "Kids and the Outdoors," to the right of the story you'll read some interesting sidenotes regarding the increases in obesity, ADD, and depression that some studies attribute to a decrease in time spent in the outdoors.
  18. Nice job, GMAN.
  19. Are you sure your garage space is only 8 feet wide (96 inches)? If so, this will restrict your choices of a boat. I think you will have a really tight squeeze with any boat on a trailer that has a beam measurement of the upper 80s to lower 90s in inches.
  20. It looks like you guys had a really good time. Nice fish!
  21. Nice work, LBH! I would love to fish for some Northern Pike. It's just good to wet a line, isn't it?
  22. Glad to see you out and about, Burley! That's a beautiful area you are fishing. I know you've probably explained this before, but what's with the name, Cheerleader Ponds?
  23. That's not a bad looking fish for the first one of the year. Nice!
  24. Welcome, stan150!
  25. Welcome to the community, Bryan!
