  1. I read about the two guys out at Lone Star in the paper today. One was 47 and the other was over 60. If not for the actions of some other people putting themselves in harm's way, both guys would have died. The younger one survived.
  2. So today is March 1st, the first day of the State vs State contest. The small lakes near me are still under ice. I went to Smithville lake which is approximately 7200 acres and all the coves were iced over, not to mention we had 35 mph winds today. I found a spot by some rip rap that was shallow with no ice and I worked out the rust on my pitching for about 30 minutes. We were over 60 degrees today, but starting tomorrow night we drop back to lows in the teens and 20s and we are supposed to get some more snow. The snow in my front yard hasn't melted yet. By next weekend we're supposed to make it back to the 50s. I'm really dying to get out on the water.
  3. Hey, FishinDaddy, I wondered where you had been. BTW, I provided a picture to get my 5 points back. I think another person or two provided pictures also. I hope you're feeling better.
  4. Although your screen name implies a preference for the GL3, the IMX series is where you want to be, if you can. 8-) This is off-topic but I thought his screen name referred to G3 boats or the G3 tour founded by Joe Satriani. It is a group of 3 excellent guitarists, which varies from year to year, who have toured together every year since 1996. The G3 2007 tour was Joe Satriani, John Petrucci of Dream Theater, and Paul Gilbert. I guess I need to get my head out of my . . .
  5. I like all Heddon Spooks, but that's probably because I've used them for ages. I've bought one Sammy but I haven't used it yet. Anyway, there are any number of cadences to try when walking the dog. Like any lure, different cadences work at different times. I usually stop the bait now and then, but sometimes a continuous walk works best. Also, you can walk the bait with a large side-to-side motion or a tiny one.
  6. I really haven't been good about this over the years. I just about always have my scale with me, but I often forget my camera. Fortunately, I always have my cell phone camera, which will do in a pinch, but obviously the cell phone pictures aren't the greatest. I have a 2002 Olympus C-50 5 megapixell camera that is supposedly waterproof and I like to have it with me for pictures. I don't carry a backup scale either.
  7. I agree . . . . but regarding the Curado with the rebate, like the Kool-Aid man says, "Oh yeah!"
  8. Welcome to the site, EconBassMan. 8-) I bought some Rage Tail Shads after watching that show, but the cold and the snow have kept me off the water. Hopefully, by this weekend things should be different.
  9. Welcome, Andy. Jump in with both feet.
  10. Field of Dreams. (Actually the point of the movie has nothing to do with baseball, but the whole thing revolves around the sport.)
  11. Rapala Shad Rap and Rat'l'traps. Rapala DT10s and DT6s in shad and bluegill patterns are not far behind.
  12. I love to watch a bass take to the air. Heck, I jump with 'em.
  13. Jimmy Johnson a redneck??? Bwahahahahahaha! When I think of Jimmy and Jeff I picture two dudes who go out and get manicures together... ;D ;D ;D ;D No, not manicures. Trophies!!
  14. i agree he was a good fisherman for being just a weekend angler he died way too young He was a GREAT fisherman for being just a weekend angler.
  15. Welcome. I'm looking forward to the sharing of your fishing experience with us.
  16. KVD didn't win but he is the most consistent Classic finisher I've ever seen. The last four years his place in the standings has been as follows: 2005 - Winner 2006 - 5th 2007 - 3rd 2008 - 3rd Congratulations to Alton Jones for a great Classic. He won it hands down.
  17. If you can't get an outboard and you're stuck using your trolling motor, I'll ship you a couple of paddles to save the batteries. No, no. Don't thank me. It's the least I can do. : Seriously, I wish you luck on finding that motor. If I were on your path to Guntersville, I'd let you use my 70 horse Johnson on my old boat. I haven't sold it yet.
  18. Sufix Performance Braid is the cat's meow for me.
  19. I like it as is. Every region has its advantages. If you want to catch hefty northern Pike and Muskies, living in the North is to your advantage.
  20. This is my worst winter for cabin fever in a long time. I'm usually able to get out a handful of times during the Winter to fish, but not this Winter. It's been really cold and we have ice and snow every 3 - 5 days it seems. Our forecast is showing precipitation and cold temperatures for the next week. I need to get out on the water by March. Something has to change.
  21. FishinDaddy, I need my five points back. There are some good fishermen in this contest and I"m going to need all the help I can get. This picture doesn't do Avid justice, but it will have to do.
  22. The ability to cover a wide area to either side of the boat was one of things that interested me.
  23. Clear and stained. Most of the water I fish is stained.
  24. Count me in for the largemouth division. I seriously don't have an Avid lookalike picture. Are you kidding me? According to the ladies, Avid is the Brad Pitt of bass fishing. I can't compete with that. : Will a regular picture do?
