Which reels do you own?
I have 3 baitcasters, one for catfishing, and 4 spinning, one for catfishing and one ultralight.

Are you a multi species angler?
I love bass fishing, but catfishing is my mistress. I also enjoy fishing for any kind of panfish and saltwater fishing, especially king fishing.

World record bass a phony.....
Triton_Mike, I see how it made a soap opera. I read it more for entertainment than education. But I do see what your'e saying.

World record bass a phony.....
I can't remember what kind of lure it was, but I do know it was the only one he had. It tells in the book "Sowbelly" but I just can't remember what it was. I also recommend reading this book, it gives some interesting information and is quite enjoyable.

World record bass a phony.....
I read the book "Sowbelly, Chase For The World Record Bass" about a year ago and I have questions about the record myself. No there's not enough evidence to prove it's true but there's also not enough evidence to disapprove it either. I say we keep it as is.

Presentation questions
Bass are opportunistic and will eat anything that will move. I have used shad and craw colored lures in farm ponds that I know don't have either and have always had success with them. So I say if it works then use it but don't be afraid to try something new, even if it gets a few laughs or remarks.

My goal as a newbee for 2009
I also prefer a baitcaster for soft plastics, and usually fish my spiinerbaits on a spinning reel.

How do you organize your tackle?
I also sit and re-organize my tackle about every night and my wife just doesn't understand how I could do this over and over. Anyways, I have three 3700 Plano boxes, one with topwater, one with anything below water, and one with terminal tackle. I also have two worm binder wraps, one with worms and swimbaits, and the other with tubes, freakbaits, craws, and flukes. And one spinnerbait binder with spinnerbaits, buzzbaits, and jigs. All this is in a Plano Flipsider Base Station. The spinnerbait binder is in behind the 3700 boxes in the main compartment and the worm binders hang off the sides, one on each side, with carabiners. The back pouch holds my tools, one of the side pouches holds my porks, and the other side holds spools of lines. The front flip down is filled with my go to lures. Inside the main compartment I also have a can of bug spray, a lure retriever, and a poncho.

When to use a 10 inch worm
I use mine when it hits those hot dog days of summer. I read somewhere that when it gets real hot the bass would prefer one big meal. Don't know if it's true but last year on the 100 degree days I was catching more on them than the 4, 5, or 6" worms.

Texas Rig Weight Pegging
I use the small bobber stop beads. I put my line through then put my line back through the same direction so that is wrapped once around the bead. It slides up the line real easy for any retying and I can also slide it up a little so that it has a little moving room if I want. I use braided line so I don't know how well it would work on mono on fluoro.

Favorite fishing snack?
I usually have a Mountain Dew and a honeybun. Nothing like a nice big glazed honeybun.

Need some help with a frustrating body of water...
Probably over populated. My great aunt has a pond that used to hold 5-6 lb'rs but now has long skinny fish, I mean last week I caught one that had the length of a 3-4 lb'r and only weighed 2 and last year my wife caught her first bass that had the length of a 5 lb'r and only weighed 3. When my uncle was living, and health allowed him, he would usually catch a few and bring them in to eat, but since no one has fished the past few of years and kept anything the bass have been looking skinny. I just started back to fishing this pond late last year and me being a catch and release guy I think I need to bring a few home here and there to even things back out

Ponds vs. Lakes
I don't know the regulations myself but my uncle used to live on some property that had 3 ponds, a medium a large and a small one off his porch, I can only dream. But I used to fish the large one a good bit, it was like 4 or 5 acres, and got to looking at a website and found it listed as a lake with an official name. So I don't understand how they determine exactly.

Palamar Question
Tie with everything on top of the eye. Never had a problem with it cutting in the line and yet to have any failure, I tie this knot 95% of the time. If you wet the knot it doesn't matter which end you pull it won't burn, the only time I make sure to pull the tag end is when tying on mono so it won't kink up the line.

Is it worth the money and time?
I have been fishing since I was 3 years old, and bass fishing most of that time, and don't think I need a certain catch ratio. I'm not taking any offense from what you said I see where you're coming from, I mean there are the people that worry about catching a limit every time or trying to go down in the history books, I just fish to relax and love to learn new things whenever I can. I was just curious of what others have experienced.

Is it worth the money and time?
I ran into some guys from up north about a year ago at Wally World and started talkin to them about fishing and the conversation turned to fly fishing, which I never have done any, and how it worked well on nice largemouths. I gave it some thought and let it go until this year a couple weeks when I walked into a fly shop while my wife was shopping to kill some time. I asked the owner of the shop about this and he said he had been doing it since the late 70's and it worked great because you can lay a fly on some lilly pads without making a sound and catch some real bucket mouths. Anyway, he said he gives lesson for this for $35 and had a bass fly rod and reel kit for $110, so I was wondering have any of y'all ever tried using a fly fishing outfit to catch largemouth bass and do you think it's really worth it?
