  1. That reel to me seems to have a sweet spot when casting. I've had trouble with filling the spool up and then getting a lot of backlashes. So, less capacity and thinner/lighter line I was able to get my reel to be more predictable.
  2. What the Victory 701 series, or something like that? I have one. I dont use it anymore, not since a long time. It is not a bad reel, just spool up the reel to about 3/4 it's capacity and avoid heavy line like 15, and up. If you get it set correctly it will launch a 1/2oz Zara Spook a mile!
  3. If you dont like it, let me know. We can work something out. I like the reels, light, strong and casts A MILE! The spool seems to really run free so, be aware of that early on. I think you will be happy, great ergonomics on that reel. I have big hands and cups into my hand perfectly.
  4. Congrats! Enjoy the new rod and I am looking forward to the review.
  5. I'll be ready, and more then willing!
  6. Ugh, I meant to watch it, but forgot! I will see if I can find it on replay on his site.
  7. I have a Tournament Lite SS, and the ACS system in there, dual braking system is outstanding. There is a lot of fine tuning you can do with that to achieve exactly what you want.
  8. Another vote for going through Mike @ DVT. He is the man!
  9. I assume swim jigs are good for year round? Thanks, I will check out those videos and see what they saw and will keep in mind about trimming skirts from fall to summer.
  10. Hey everyone, I am trying to get better fishing a jig. (You really can't go any lower then where I am at now.) But, I wanted to ask about trimming the skirts on a jig. I have had people tell me dont, trim at an angle towards to the hook, and seen online to trim short. Any help suggestions are greatly appreciated! I will be skipping docks and flipping these jigs, if that helps. Really, I can't catch a fish on a jig to save my life. Wdy
  11. Are you trying to compare the 2 reels? I have not thrown a 1/4oz. lure on it, but I am sure it will! Ice on the lakes still here in Richmond.
  12. I would suggest a Symmtery, about $100, then buy tackle with the rest. Good luck with your decision.
  13. Mandy had to go to work today, and Sean has a flippping reel of my mine. I need to sell of my 200E7 to get another flipping reel. Dodson's did not want to go fishing today, I texted him earlier about lets go now, we will have the lake to ourselves. Believe me I have watched most Youtube fishing related videos and now doing research from VDGF to see what their biologist reports say about bait fish in each lake.
  14. I saw this in the Facebook feed and loved it!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JYuOZnAqQCY#t=333
  15. X2 My Endruance 723 is responsible for 75% of my bass caught in the past 4 years. Plus, with the backbone of the rod, my hook up to landing rate has gone way up. Disclaimer: I have never fished with any Duckett rod before. I know they are popular and lighter, but I love my Endurance 723 enough not to look at any other manufacturers.
  16. Just thought of another two. Allaman Brothers "Soulshine" Epic song!! Van Halen's "Eruption"
  17. I met Sean yesterday and gave him a good amount of my tackle to provide the equipment he will need. He's got a majority of my productive soft plastics as well. So, let him know Sam, and hopefully Sean will put some fish in the boat his first tourney.
  18. "Voodoo Chile" by either Jimi or SRV
  19. I learned I need to slow down jig fishing and longer day light seems to have more to do with it then warmer water. Dean Rojas and Skeet catching those fish the first day in that shallow, MMmm...Never would have guessed it. Maybe that is why I am not a pro. I also learned maybe I need to make a trip to Lake Hartwell. The pros were so effective catching them in so many ways.
  20. Sean, there is a Local fishing forum thread on here. Try reposting in that forum.
  21. I thought is was a great tournament. Very technical tournament in my eyes, it was more of game planning and being at the right spots in the morning and towards weigh ins. I would like to see extended fishing hours say till 4 or 4:30. A lot of fish where caught towards the end of fishing time. Extend it more, it really could have changed things But, I learned a lot, loved to see the mid day dead time I have during my tournaments. I guess comfort in numbers watching that. naturally, it would have been great to weigh in like 80 lbs over the three days, but this was a grind tourney. Mother nature did not give us optimal weather conditions for huge sacks. Wdy
  22. ^^^ Yeah, I handled a couple of Pinnacle rods at the Richmond Bass Expo late Jan. and I was impressed, lighter then I thought they would be. I haven't fished with one. But, definitely seemed to have been built correctly.
  23. XF, I knew it!!! Ugh, didn't go with my first educated assumption...
  24. Powell Endurance 7'-2" MH Fast tip 723 (Personally, I dont think so about the tip.) Great sensitive rod for bottom connect, a TON of hook setting power, great senko rod. It balances well, I believe the weights are 3/16oz. - 3/4oz. and 10#-17# line. So, most of the lures are covered with the rod. Versatily for this rod it can do a little of everything well. But, Powell has eliminated this line and replaced it with the 3D Max series.
