Yeah, I am teaching my wife to use a baitcaster right now as well. So, I would look for a smaller reel, say 50E size. But, my suggestions are one of the new Lew's LFS series reel. Just turn the dial on the side to make changes, no opening up the side plate, piece of cake! Or, a Curado series Shimano for their fore giving nature. Good luck and post what happens.

Well, I would retire. I have some medical issues/complications. 10% to church I'd buy a house in CO, or WY, or MT for the summer to fly fish for trout, and a house on Toledo Bend for the winter months. Fix up a couple of my cars, send my wife to school full time to get her degree and send my mom to Alaska, she has been talking about going for years. The rest, I would save, play guitar, tie flies, fish, sleep all day. Wdy

Yes, go to the store and try to put as many as possible in your hands. See about demoing some reels from the wharehouse. At that price range, you have a lot of options from manufactures that have been around a long time! What options do you like the best on a reel, carbon fiber handle, click drag, etc. start there and narrowing down your choice of reels. Good luck! Bait Monkey, Bait Monkey, Bait Monkey!!!!

I have only used the Primmus, very nice reel. You will, or should not be disappointed. Very nice ergonomics on that reel.

Hello everyone, I wanted to ask if anyone is, or has been spybaiting? I just got a Duo Realis Spinbait 80 and was wondering did bait monkey get me, or is it a viable tactic? Also, they say this is a spinning technic, but the 80 weighs 3/8oz. putting it in the casting spectrum or me. Any advice, stories, or help is greatly appreciated Wdy

Dont take this the wrong way, but. that is a lot of thinking about what to do. I get it, I think like this (I'm thinking you might be an engineer), but I have Tournament Lite as well and have some doubts about it as well, but sometimes you just need to fish what you got and let things play out. I dont think there is a right answer, only which answer/option you are most comfortable with. Good luck, Wdy PS This is my first Lew's and I love the new 6 pin cent. brake. So, I am sticking with that personally. PSS go with option 4, fish them till they fall apart, give each reel a far shot. You might find something you could have missed out on by selling them off.

yep, here is my experience with USPS. Look at the box in the background this reel has never worked right since getting it. UPS or nothing for me.

What do you hope to gain by changing bearings? I have a Curado 50E with Boca Orange Bearings and compared that reel to my Curado 200E5 and E7 reels. The DVT Supertuned reels to me, is about 10ft. less. The Bocas do give me more precision when I use my 50E for flipping.

Yep, during the summer I found a Quantum Smoke SL100HPT on display for $99, went to the Dick's Sporting Goods on the other side of town and saw it for $199. Well, Dick's messed up and we got if for $99 by having them call the first store.

I had DVT (aka, The Reel Godfather, yes, I just knighted you with that name Mike) put in Boca Bearings and polish some bearings. To be honest, try getting your bearings polished by him. Bearing upgrades are not the silver bullet in my eyes. The reason I say this is well, I pulled out my 200E7 he polished my bearings in from the closet sitting since April, 2014 and the spool will free spool for about ten seconds. I suggest polish and use the proper lube, and the proper amount and call it a day.

If you are a bookstore take a look at the latest BassMaster magazine, there is a good little article in there about smallmouth fishing.

I have a connection at Gamble so, I decided to try them. Granted, nothing on the ugly otter as of yet, but the little otter got destroyed once I used them on smallmouth. See picture below. Great little bait!!!

hahahah, nice looking HUGE cat! I have two cats, and one dog (she's my little girl!), and one of my cats, haha I am a little hesistant to type this chews through my fishing line. He's blind and not see anything, smells everything! Otis (blind cat) is sleeping/hiding and whenever I pick up my reels, rods, start looking at my lures, he suddenly appears! Otis's record is chewing through 20# Tatsu line, ugh! I find my lure that I JUST TIED ON ACROSS THE ROOM wondering what happened. Great feeling when you are ready to fly out of the door to go fishing!! Wdy

^^^ Yep, some of the toughest water I have fished. My profile picture is of a bass I got at Prince, but he is right on the money! I caught this bass, then the next day, totally different conditions, I caught another similar, then nothing for the next 3 trips and I stopped going. Same thing with Lake Cahoon for me, it looks great there are big bass in there, but locating them is tough.
