Would this be a good 10 inch worm and jig combo?
Daiwas dont have tons of drag.. but lock down a drag on a daiwa reel and it handles flipping NASTY matts just fine.. I pitch with a Zillion or TD-Z all the time and never do I wish I had more drag.. throw on some 65# braid lock the drag down and go rip um out of the thickest stuff you can find. I would stay a way from any graphite farmed reel for what you want it for... you can get you a TD-PRO for under 100.00 and have a very nice reel in fact bass pro has a combo on the TD-PRO rod and reel for 149.00 I believe and I can assure you that will be a VERY nice setup. I can fish whatever I want... I fish Daiwa for a reason...

best daiwa for the money?
Ray is right, I listed Zillion and SOL because there easy to get.. The Alphas is a great reel... but if you want the GREATEST super light weight lure throwing bait caster ever.... theres only one choice... Daiwa Pixy.... and im sure anyone who knows Elite JDM reels will agree. I love my super tuned TD-Z's for throwing light baits but nothing compares to a pixy when it comes to baits under a 1/8oz (as far as bait casters)

breakthrough!!!!
ive owned a few Megabass rods still have one, but i have to say I would NEVER again buy a Megabass rod... I used to go crazy every time Megabass came out with something (reel's from ITO i will still buy anytime something comes out) I would not buy another megabass stick i paid over 900.00 for the Megabass rod my ITO ABS spinning reel is on and other then being the only person in my club that fishes a megabass rod I wouldnt NEVER buy another one.. at one point I had 8 megabass casting rods and one spinning rod I still have the spinning rod and one casting stick (Brand new with a brand new TD-ITO on it) its only a show piece and I wouldnt even think about fishing it, and ill keep it till the right offer comes around.. I have bought up every TD-ITO thats new I can find and will sale them in a few years and make a really pretty penny off them.. im more then content with my arsenal and have more then i need.. and will only buy more as an investment.. the one thing I could never be happy with was my boat.. I bought a 2006 Blazer 210 with a yammy 300 HPDI on it because I wanted the fastest boat in the club and I had it but hated how it fished.. NOV 2008 I sold it and bought a boat thats truly made me content my Z-9... not the fastest around but im not in to having a 98-103MPH boat anymore.. I want comfort and fishes like a dream over life threating speeds.. So yeah im happy with what i got..as of now

Centrifugal brake question
oil on the race way will cause more friction causing lose of cast distance because it will make the break pads not float smoothly on there shafts. and a lot less free spool. keep your race way clean! use a Q-tip and a solvent to remove all oil from it.. if you want your reel to preform its best!

TEAM DAIWA LT TL-701-1RB 7' CRANKIN ROD
Daiwa L&T and TD-S rods are amazing and can not be beat at there price. I still have a TD-S Frog rod that I use at times and you just cant break them and they feel so good in the hand.. I pretty much fish nothing but Carrot stixs and Daiwa Steez rods now, but I would fish a L&T or TD-S rod in a heart beat if I had to. To this day my FAV reel seat on ANY ROD is the one from a Daiwa S rod or from the L&T rod. you will fish it for many years to come and you can bet it will not ever let you down. ;D

cheap and expensive baitcaster reels
X3 cheapest of cheap should still cast a heavy weight pretty far.

What does everyone think about the Carrot stixs?
the orange isnt ugly to me, I would rather have it carbon color but after i fished them I didnt give a care about the color and now I like the way they look. My TD-ITO's look simply SICK on the Carrot stix gold's.. If you took a GLX and a Carrot stix and went side by side to see what is more Sensitive (As I have done) you arent gonna truely be able to tell both rods let you feel everything. the Carrot stix in the same action/power and length as ANY ROD and it will be lighter... to me that right there is a HUGE part of how a rod feels... and there not tip heavy at all.. I sold all but a few of my GLX's and replaced them with carrot stixs for a reason and I still have a few GLX's for sell if anyone is looking for some. And people dont be scared of the guides, they handle braid like anything and have lasted as good as Fuji TI SICS that Ive had on some custom rods Ive not had a guide fail yet and i have FISHED WITH THEM A LOT! dont get me wrong though I wish they had Fuji guides on them too.. only because I love fuji guides but so far i cant complain one bit! and I keep buying more of them... and if you dont like the bright orange then buy the Carrot stix gold its a really sweet looking rod.. its more of a orangeish gold and changes hues as it moves it looks sweet

powell and e21

best daiwa for the money?
Man Daiwa is AWESOME, IMHO Nothing comes close.. What are you looking for in a reel? if you want something that casts light baits really well like 1/8oz and up Go with the SOL lots of power and performance in a VERY small package.. if you want power, smoothness, built like a tank toughness get a Zillion. I love Zillions thats why I got so many. their SUPER smooth reels and cast light baits well not quite as good as the SOL but still very well. they have crazy power and last forever! Go Daiwa and you wont want to fish anything else.

What does everyone think about the Carrot stixs?
the 7' foot 21CRG701MH-F-C carrot gold is one of the most sensitive rods Ive ever used... and ive been through them all. you feel everything with them and they are like holding air.

How did you originally choose
back in the 90's watching my FAV BASS PRO Denny B. always Flipping a JIG with his Daiwa S Rod and TD-X Reel and that reel was so sexy to me.. I saved up and bought me two with xmas money.. and Have fished nothing but Daiwa since. my first set up was a 6'6 MH Interline rod!!!! (Still have it you know the rod that uses only a guide to get the line inside of the blank!) and 7'6H Daiwa S rod and TD-X reels!

This year's starting lineup - Team Daiwa
I dont want to jump on his forum listing but I would Love to show off my Daiwa arsenal!! And I will be getting on of the Limited JDM Zillions too. Just as I have the HLC and PE.. The HLC looks sweet but I was upset when it cast almost the same as the normal Zillion but it sure does look sweet. anyhow if you dont mind me showing off my reels let me know its ok!

Upgradeable reel?
Take you a Daiwa Zillion and go for it... Office ZPI bearings SIC bearings, carbon handle with bearing supported knobs. and a MG Fixed rotor spool.. you have a zillion that can now cast 1/16oz baits out of site on the right rod. I have some for sale if you want. there already super tuned... and I assure you there is nothing out there that will cast with the zillions the way i have mine setup other then My tuned Pixys and I'ZE/ITO tuned TD-Z and TD-ITOS... BPS TD-PROS imho wouldnt be worth upgrading...I mean your gonna spend like 140+ for a carbon handle and knob set.. Let me know if your in the market for some super tuned reels... and also if you need advice on upgrades and so on PM me and ill help ya out... I dont have a reel thats stock lol other then one steez

TEAM DAIWA LT TL-701-1RB 7' CRANKIN ROD
Ive used them years ago and all the L&T rods from Daiwa are amazing and will give you total performance for years and years! if you havent held one you need to do so... they are awesome. make sure you check out Carrot stixs too... I think you will like them a lot more then anything you can touch under 400 dollars.

Carrot stix choices?? Help me out please!!!
Looks like you got it down pretty good but I would go with a 8'xh over the 7'6 then you would have a great flipping and pitching rod a great larger swim bait rod and a AWESOME frog rod for super thick matts. I would get the 7'6 if I was you and could get it and the 8 footer too to me the 8 footer would let me use it for more baits and be there when you are fishing REALLY nasty stuff. that that thing handles 5oz swim baits like a champ even a 7oz swimbait not no more then that tho its rated for up to 5 ozs but will handle 6-7 well.... and still have a great tip to let you pitch with total control..

Carrot Stix for Jerkbaits
if your talking about hard jurkbaits with trebles then yes its a GREAT rod.. if your talking about for a S/P jurk bait rod then it depends its got to much flex unless you use braid.. I do use a 6.9 parabolic Carrot stix for S/P jurk baits at times so long as im spooled with braid so you get solid hook sets...and also the extra flex in the rod will give a little more time and let the fish get the Jurk bait in its mouth and still with braid give rock solid hook sets..
-
why do some rods have so many more eyes than others?
Rhino hit the nail on the head!
-
how many of you use a longer frog rod?
I use a 8' XXH carrot stick gold for the really really nasty stuff. and a 7'6H when im around just pads and what not or matts that arent really really thick

Carrot Stix balancing rod weights
Search Karrot weight on Ebay and you will find them... or I can make ya some...
-
Daiwa Strikeforce series...

Rod/Reel purchase advice needed
around 180 bucks this would be a VERY nice setup thats a VERY high quality, a Daiwa S rod 6'6 MED fast tip and a 6.3/1 Dawia exceler 185.00ish would get you that setup and I know you would be pleased with it... I can bet theres a lot of people on this site that will RAVE to you about how good those Dawia S rods are. theres alot of Daiwas PROS that can have a boat load of Steez rods and they still Fish the S rods. Denny B. is one of them http://www.***.com/descpageRLCDAIWA-DEC.html http://www.***.com/descpageRDCDAIWA-TDSC.html

Looking for a good flipping reel
Daiwa Zillion hands down.

Applications that require sensitive rods.
like said before When you are using any bait that as you are fishing you will have some slack in the line like jigs, worms, at times spinner baits depending on how you are fishing it.. thats when a good rod really comes in to play.. you can fish crank baits on a stick that you dont get much feel from so long as you are fishing open water when ripping cranks out of cover a good stick comes in to play then..like i just said tho if the baits always on a tight line you can get away with a rod that doesnt have much feel... if you are fishing a bait thats on slack line a lot get a rod that has a lot of feel to it.
