  1. After reading a couple of KVD's books and watching several of his video's, I'd say you are in for a very informative seminar. Don't know much about Brent Chapman but being a touring pro you should be able to pick up some things from him too!!! Take a lot of notes!!!
  2. Ditto!!!! Less face more fish. It would also be nice if they would let you know what depth, water temp, and clarity they are fishing in.
  3. Thanks for the replies!!! After reading what you guys had to say I went back and looked at my maps and the lake itself. The areas I went to were on the northwest side of the lake but, because of the sun being in the southern hemisphere those coves and points are not recieving the sunlight that I assumed that they would. The bottom composition is this lake is predominently sandstone. Also, we have had a fairly strong west wind which would blow the water towards the dam. I really have learned a lot over the past couple of weeks being on the water!!
  4. I went to a local lake last weekend we fished the lower end of the lake and the water temps were in the mid 40's. We went back to the same lake this weekend and went to the North and Northwest side of the lake expecting to see water temps in the high 40's. We arrived at our destination and the water temp was in the high 30's. We ran back to the lower end of the lake and the warmest water we could find was at the dam and was in the mid 40's. I was always told that the warmest water in any given body of water this time of year would be at the upper end, on the South facing banks. Thanks for your replies!!!
  5. I wouldn't even think of loaning my boat for a day let alone renting it for several months. I think you would be better off trying to find a real good deal on a used boat and fish it until you get ready to go away to college, then try to resale it.
  6. I own a TR-186 18' 6" Triton with a 150 Johnson on it. It's a 2000. I've owned it since June 06 and I love it. I just got it back from the factory, they put a new cap on it, the original one had some stress cracks in it and the dealer I bought it from Got Triton to warranty it I knew this when I bought the boat, I took it to the dealer on October 6th and I picked it back up on December the 22nd. It has a brand new cap and looks great, I took it out Saturday I am very pleased with the work they did on it and I love my boat it takes rough water extremely well, has lots of storage, and fishes up to 3 people without being too crowded. you won't be dissapointed buying a Triton!!!
  7. Thats an awsome gift!!! I've been thinking about attending one at BPS in Oklahoma city Let us know how good it was!!!!
  8. I had a Javelin Renegade 18 with a 150 Johnson manual jackplate 8" setback, it was a good boat fairly fast. I clocked it at 65 mph fully loaded with 2 people and all our gear full tank of gas. The only thing I didn't like about it was that it didn't take rough water very well, it got pretty squirrely. I now own a Triton Tr-186 with a Johnson 150, it's not quite as fast as the Javelin but it rides a lot better and takes rough water extremely well. And as said in a couple posts above that boat is no longer in production. Thats one of the reasons I sold it and bought the Triton.
  9. This is strictly my opinion and has been my experience. When the barometer is moving (up or down) the fish are more active and will feed better. You can use faster moving baits and cover more water, the fish will have a larger strike zone. When the barometer is steady (high or low) the fish are less active and tighter to cover. You have to slow down and fish tight to cover, try to entice the fish to hit your lure with a reaction strike instead of an actual feeding strike.

  15. I had a fantastic year!!! Bought my first bass boat in April and spent the remainder of the year learning new techniques and buying euipment so that I can fish tournaments next year. I didn't catch any real big bass 5 lbs was the biggest but I caught a lot of bass in the 1 1/2 to 3 lb range also learned to catch bass on jigs, crankbaits, and soft plastic jerkbaits. Look out bass here I come!!!!!!! ;D
  16. That is a tough question, and one that my wife and I have been kicking around. I'll be 40 in April and would like to semi-retire by the time i am 55. I've been thinking about southern Oklahoma, Texoma or Nothern Texas, lake Fork. I'd still like to fish Tournaments so that is a consideration and I like to hunt Texas has a lot to offer in that area too. I have considered Arkansas, Dardanelle or Hot Springs area. I love to duck hunt and Arkansas is the duck capitol of the world!!!
  17. You win!!!! thats some kinda hard core fisherman!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I wouldn't even Duck hunt in that weather!!!!!!!
  18. Try a good 100% wool glove/mitt, I've found them at army/navy surplus stores. Wool keeps it's insulation properties even when wet. you can also wear the seal skins gloves under them to keep your hands dry. And lots of Hot Hands chemical warmers. LBH, I've got a Mr. buddy propane heater that we use in the tent, I never thought about using that in the boat, good idea.
  19. Welcome back Raul!!!! ;D I missed your posts
  20. Mine is to spend more time on the water catching bass!!!!! ;D And pay off a couple bills, so that I can spend more time on the water catching bass !!!!LOL :
  21. Thanks for the suggestions guys!! LBH thanks for the links, I should have looked there first :-[ I still haven't got my boat back from Triton yet still waiting, impatiently. Although it's supposed to get real cold here this week, 12 degrees for a low on Wednsday morning.
  22. I've never seen a bass boat break in half. Now, having said that. I used to attend the drag boat races all the time when I was younger. My step mom worked for a company that had 3 drag boats. I have seen several drag boats come apart, but they don't split in half either. They shatter scarriest thing I've ever witnessed!!! Actually saw one of our drivers lose his life on Truman lake in Missouri. The boat just dissentegrated around him at 130 mph, that was the last boat race I ever attended.
  23. Welcome back!!! ;D 8-)
  24. I'm going to concentrate on learning to fish deep water offshore structure. Also taking my electronics to the next level and boat control. ;D
  25. Bigbear, nice rig!! Where you at in Okie land??? May see you around the lake, I fish Skiatook, Ft. Gibson, Grand, Oolagah, Hudson, Eufala, Dripping Springs Okmulgee, well I guess I fish most of the lakes in NE Ok LOL!!!!!
