  1. I will be purchasing 2 of the helix 7 si g2n units soon. I have been researching them quite a bit. I went to basspro yesterday and talked to the guy at the electronics counter about them. He told me if I get the g2n version I only needed 1 map card and it would share between units. I thought I read somewhere that the units just share waypoints and I would need a map card for both units? Most of the lakes I fish are small and not supported by the mapping software. Is there any point in getting the card when I can just use the auto chart to create my own?
  2. I'm supposed to be headed to Destin FL. early Saturday morning. I wonder if it will be safe to go? The winds shouldn't be that bad that far west but i wonder about flooding?
  3. That is what i have decided to do when i can find the time. I have been working 65-80 hour weeks since i created this thread. Im going to mount it above the threshold of the door im my closet.
  4. Yea im not sure why they are considered junk fish. Ill be headed to the gulf coast in october, I would love to catch a few like that!

I don't have the p2000sk but i have the USP compact 40. The are very similar guns. I would expect the same quality from the p2000 as the USP. I have shot over 1500 rounds out of it with 0 jams. Needless to say I love my HK, I have 0 complaints.
  6. I agree that gun education is a must and both of my kids get plenty of it. I also believe the out of sight out of mind idea just in case. Keeping them out of reach cant hurt either. Oh and watermelons are our favorite things to shoot! Love how they explode.
  7. For those of you that own home defense shotguns, where do you store them for easy access but out of the reach of children? Obviously i would like it as close to my side of the bed as possible but I don't want it where my kids can get to it or see it if possible. My closet is about 7ft from my side of the bed. It is a wide closet with double doors (kind of like french doors). I am considering making some hangers that mount to the wall right above the door on the inside of the closet to keep it out of reach and out of sight. If anyone has a similar set up or any kind of wall hanger that is safe and easily accessible i would love to see it.
  8. Nice Fish! I always have those 2 lures and same colors tied on in my boat also.
  9. Man that Merc 350 in the background! What a beast!
  10. Yea they are small. The SK2 is a lightweight seat so i'm guessing they designed that to be lightweight also. I just finished a MHX 6'6" light action spinning rod build with the SK2 seat and that butt you have pictured and it worked out perfect. It would look ridiculous on anything beefier than that.
  11. The titanium 8 is a good looking reel. According to the description the titanium is in the paint job on it. So is it just a Johnny Morris reel with a fancy paint job?
  12. Thermostat?
  13. Thanks for the info guys.
  14. Thanks. I figured since it is a split reel seat just about any size reel would fit it.
  15. I'm in the process of planning my first rod build and I'm not sure about the reel seat size. The rod blank is going to be a S782-MHX. I'm planning on getting the Fuji sk2 split reel seat but I'm not sure about the size. The sk2 is listed in 2 sizes, 16 and 17. I tried searching the web about reel seat sizes and i got a lot of mixed results. I read some say to match the reel seat size to the size reel you plan on using. And others say to match the reel seat size to the diameter of the rod blank you are using. Can someone educate me on the correct application of reel seat sizes please?
  16. I prefer to have my partner net the fish for me........that way i can blame him if it gets off lol.
  17. Nice! I've been waiting for them to hit the shelves. You got the SI combo right?
  18. Thanks for the input guys. It looks like it's going to be a good time.
  19. I've never been to any pro bass tournament and was considering going to the Kentucky lake event with my wife and kids. Is there anything to do other than go to the blast off and the weigh in? I will be driving up for just 1 day. Is the final day the best to go? I would love to hear from anyone who has been to 1 of these events.
  20. That is a nice looking boat. The performance aluminum boat market is really stepping up. I wonder how similar it is to the Ranger of comparable package? Aren't Tracker boats and Ranger owned by the same company now?
  21. Just one of those days. Everyone has them. Its the bad days like that that make the good days even better.
  22. Finally got around to ordering a few baits I have been wanting to try out. I'm real excited about the Siebert jigs and punch rigs. There are 14 of them in those 6 bags. And the D-bombs are for the punch rigs when head to Reelfoot lake next month. Its like x-mas in April!!
  23. The only thing i have against them is that they destroy my brand new spinner baits lol. But man are they fun to catch!
  24. That is a beautiful rod! How much time is envolved in a build like that?
  25. I have had a couple reels that felt "geary" out of the box. Not bad enough to cause me to take it back but also not 100% smooth. I thought they might smooth out also. I still have and use both of them. They never did wear in but they didn't wear out either. Both of them are close to 5 years old now.
