  1. The best SM fishing in NH is in Maine.
  2. Methinks he doth protest to much???
  3. No. You need a frame mounted hitch. You might get away with a bumper hitch for a year or two but eventually you'll have problems. Been there--done that.
  4. I might add that space-based solar could provide endless power for everything on earth. We have the technology. Unfortunately, we lack the dollars to develop and lift it.
  5. As has been stated, future fuels are the answer. Unfortunately they are not on the horizon. Ethanol should just rollover and die. Costs more than it's worth. Only thing keeping it alive is corn-belt politicians. Hydrogen likewise has problems. 1/3 the energy of gasoline and is very difficult to contain. Like ethanol is expensive to make. Wind and solar depend on the weather. That will probably be someday mitigated by better storage. Solar panels are great on dingbats[houses]. What about base-load? How many solar panels would it take to run a blast furnace?
  6. Never have seen a diesel mech out of work.
  7. I'll join you guys that can't break 5. My best SM is 4 1/2. I'm having nightmares about it.

Yeah, I carry always. When the permit laws were relaxed in Oregon I wondered about the advisability of everybody running around armed. That didn't stop me from charging out for my permit. It's been years and there have been no problems that I know about.
  9. For that matter, what in the wild is chartreuse?
  10. Haven't but I bought a bunch. Let you know soon.
  11. There are a plethora of bass sites. I would suggest registering, as you've done here, putting your info on as many of them as you can find. Usually when a unit craps out a guy can't bear to throw it away and it winds up in his garage or wherever he parks useless junk. You could well connect.
  12. I prefer a reel with a selective anti-reverse because I like to back-reel or thumb the spool when playing a fish. I had a Quantam Pro Lite with a defective anti-reverse that I sent to the factory for repair. Parts were not available so the kept my old reel and sent a replacement--not selective ant-reverse--at the going rate. I was not upset about the new reel but was because they kept the old. I own at least a bakers dozen Shimano Bantam 150 and 250 reels with selective anti-reverse and fish more with them than my new reels. They aren't quite and smooth and don't cast quite as far as the newer reels, but hey, I'm an old dog.
  13. In younger years I would strip, dive over the side and "thro" myself back over the gunn'l. At 70 I could no more do that now than flap my elbows and fly. Having experienced a similar plunge recently, I am now the proud owner of a boarding ladder. My question: what's a 70 year old doing out there without a boarding ladder?
  14. I'm with the crowd that wants to know what a 70 year old man is doing out there without a boarding ladder. As a 70 year old man that's taken the plunge, I am now the proud owner of a boarding ladder.
  15. Disconnect the ground at the vehicle. Connect a long separate wire to ground at the vehicle and then connect that wire directly to ground at one of the trailer lights. See what that gets you. If the light works properly replace the ground complete.
  16. Guess I'll have to go against the majority opinion. I've fished many years on 12 volts and never had a problem. I don't see thrust as an issue but battery life surely can be. Unlike most, I don't tourny fish so when the wind gets hard I head for the barn; thus no battery problem. If you tourny fish you need 24.
  17. I use Mann's 8" grape Jelly and it's a great producer. Can't say say it's fruity.
  18. I've been fishing for bass since the '60s. Not bad for a NW boy who never heard of a bass 'til he went in the service. If it's not a salmonoid in the NW it's a junk fish. I've caught a ton of big bass but a 5lb SM is my white whale. Best I've managed to do is 4 1/2.
  19. Love that East Pond ref. In another life and another wife I owned a camp on North Pond. I've caught a truck load of 5 pounders in Maine but never a 6 or bigger.
  20. White is my #1 plastic color and is strong in hardbaits.
  21. Find it hard to believe that a carnivore won't eat lightning struck meat. Evidence mandatory.
  22. Hildebrandt 5/8 oz chart w/ gold #7 Colorado single blade.
  23. Agree with Reel X or any machine oil such as 3 in 1.
  24. Yes, an awesome site but perhaps a bit too strict. Some of my best quips get scrubbed. And it's true it whiles away the winter. Some of you cats live where you can fish all year. I'm eating my heart out. Next winter I'm heading south for a couple months and intend to do the same from now on. Us retired guys can do that. Now you can eat your hearts out.
