In need of a couple of Reviews.
Do a search for both Sahara and Citica in here; you will find that both are very popular reels in the high performance per dollar department.

Revo S on TW
Nick - it's all personal preference and so everyone's opinion is predicated on that. I have several S's and think it is easily the best reel for the money in the under $100 category (they can be found in the $85-95 range). I believe the Citica is the only reel that competes with it in this range, but that is just my opinion. I definitely would NOT recommend you get it in the $130 price range as that's just a waste. In the end only you will be able to tell which reel you prefer and that will only happen by actually using them.

bps casting reels....
Do a search on Bassresource for the BPS Extreme - that's a fairly popular reel here and always goes on sale for $59 if you just wait. Last year it went to $39 when they closed it out. Has centrifugal brakes. The BPS Tourney Special and the Bionic models are even lower end - smooth in terms of bearings and performance; lower-end in terms of braking. They are magnetic braking only so you have to have a skilled thumb to use those. Personally I think that makes them excellent training reels - you cast those you can cast anything. After that as you go up in price they will have both brakes and/or are lighter etc... i.e. the Rick Klunn One other recommendation - monitor the flea market for a used reel. You can get more for your money that way as well.

problems with leader knot
I can definitely tell when the knot hits the tip-top (guide) but it's not an issue in any way. I've used the uni to uni and now the Alberto (also my favorite; no going back) and they both feel similarly but it's not an issue of any sort (to me).

Revo S on TW
Your link only shows Target and FishUSA.com (at $120+), no Wallyworld. Am I missing something?

If you were to track your bass fishing what is relevant?
How cold is your air and water temperature for your late winter in the mid-south? For rivers, that is.

orra sx or revo s
It's a preference thing and only you will be able to answer it for you. There will always be some on each side of the preference. i.e. I use the S for senkos all the time; I also think it's a smoother reel than the Citica but they are close (have not tried the Orra). Others prefer the Citica. The "which reel is better" is always a subjective question.

Bass Pro Sneaky?
In this case it wasn't rewards but literally a $10 off $50 purchase coupon, so they had nothing to go on but my word. There was nothing to look up.

Lure Pass #1 About to kick off!
Ouch. Jr. has admitted fault and apologized repeatedly. Even if he never sends the box on, do people no longer know how to forgive?

Bass Pro Sneaky?
I don't *** any retailer having to deal with the general public; it can make any employee bitter. I do have a positive Bpro tale to share - Was going to get a new reel a while back and the guy behind the reel counter got the one I wanted. I looked it over, made the final "buy" decision and started to walk away when I realized I had a $10 off coupon in the mail I had left at home. I handed the reel back to the guy and told him I'd come back the next day or so with the coupon. He asked how far my drive was and I told him about 45 minutes. He insisted I shouldn't have to do that, and I insisted that I really didn't mind (I did not, it was my own fault). He contacted a store manager and had them modify the pricing to reflect the coupon saving me the 2nd trip, even after I insisted that wasn't an issue. By no means does this invalidate anyone who has had problems with BP, it's just 1 positive data point, that's all.

best knots??
I used to use the uni to uni for this but have switched to the Alberto knot (that Roadwarrior provided the youtube link for). It has proven a stronger knot for joining lines of differing diameters (in my experience).

Rain gear...
A few points: - The link above is for a DWR replacement. If the garment is leaking, this will not fix the problem. However.... - Frequently people think their garment is leaking because the DWR has worn off. What happens is the outside layer gets soaked (called "wet out") making the inside feel wet and clammy (breathability is also lost), but it just "feels" that way and is not really leaking. In this case (which tends to be most cases), replenishing the DWR will indeed solve the problem. - Lastly: most do not recommend a wash-in DWR but prefer a spray on. The wash-in will clog the liner pores which impacts the breathability of the garment, ONLY. The garment is not harmed, nor is the waterproofing damaged, you just end up reducing the breathability of the garment. Since fishing isn't an aerobic sport, this won't be much of an issue unless it's very warm outside and you need the air flow. The great things about the Columbia gear is: 1) it's Gore-tex technology and performance without the price tag (although their pricing is slowly increasing because the word is out; trust me, it is the same technology as Gore-tex due to the patent expiration); 2) they give you a lifetime warranty. If the garment ever fails, send it in and they'll send you a new one. That's huge. (I could talk water-proof technology for hours but I'd be even more boring than I normally am)

99 Cent Sale!
Wow, scored some cheap jigging spoons. Woohoo.

Rain gear...
In that price range I'd recommend the Columbia Thunderstorm jacket/pants. They use their Gore-tex clone (when the Gore-tex patent ran out) called Omni-Tech. Pant's $25: http://www.sierratradingpost.com/p/,1656T_Columbia-Sportswear-Thunderstorm-Rain-Pants-Waterproof-For-Men.html Jacket $35: http://www.jtwhitnels.com/store.php/ApparelStore/pd163735/Columbia_Sportswear_Men_s_Thunderstorm_II_Jacket

Baitcaster - Am I missing out?
To me they are a lot more fun to fish with, but others don't like them at all. I fell in love with how fun they are when I started practicing in my backyard years ago, particularly when I learned how to pitch with them, and it hasn't worn off yet. It's a preference thing - give it a shot and try one. If you get a decent one and you don't like it, you can sell it and not be out much dough

BPS Price Increase
Wow. Assuming BPS didn't jump the gun and GYCB will increase their price shortly, that is sad. Walmart predatory practices with the distributors and competition, but without the driving the price down for the consumer like Walmart does. Ouch - the worst of both worlds.
-
BPS Price Increase
It's more likely a GYCB price increase not a BPS increase. I would guess they upped their retail price and the other retailers will follow eventually. Or so it seems to me.

Finished a few
Those are frickin' gorgeous. Doh!
-
Modded Berkley Lightning with marbled finish
It looks excellent - very well done. Flech is right - you'll be replacing all of your rods and whenever you pick up one (that's not yours), you'll immediately check out the build quality.

Weather is changing- new rod builds....
I have a number of low end builds I'm making, and one high end build for my Dad. The rod for pops will be next up, though. It's going to be an Avid 3S70MF.
