  1. You all are making me think that maybe I should go braid. I have just heard before that braid is nearly impossible to get out if you get a backlash. I plan on using this rod for jigs and frogs in the tournament, so what line do you think i should look at getting? Im gonna try to go out before the tournament and practice if i do end up with braid. This is the biggest tournament I will maybe ever be in, so I need to be very confident. Any suggestions of baits to flip to the pads on other rods? YOu guys are very helpful, thanks!!!!!!
  2. im in a tournament soon and plan on throwing the spros, love them, but this is really the first time im ever gonna be fishing Lily Pads. I have Yo Zuri Hybrid 20lb test line on my reel, do you think I should go up to 25 or 30 pound? I am afraid to throw braid cause i still birds nest quite a bit and cant afford the mess and time in this tournament. Thanks all
  3. The_Natural, those look good dude. Those first finesse jigs look like they would bring a limit in fast
  4. Hey man, i live in st louis too. Also have no boat. Busch Wildlife is to much of a drive for me cause of steep gas prices, and since im a college student with no money. Id suggest going to small local ponds either in parks or just around a neighborhood. Queeny park has quite a few ponds with bass. Find a nice shady spot, cast to cover and drag the worm back. Lift and drag, and you may find a few fish hitting the lure. Also look at a sinking worm like a Senko, Yum Dinger or Wave Worm Tiki Stick. Just throw those out on a hook with no weight, let it sink and watch the line.
  5. Anyone have any info on good places to fish or anywhere or what to use? I have a tournament there in late August and am not to sure what to pack. Ive never been there before. Thanks!!!
  6. Dude, I have been using my old adidas and nike soccer bags. They are big enough to hold all my stuff and seem to be made well enough to not break holding everything
  7. I have used the spro frogs quite a bit and LOVE them. I was looking on the Bass Pro Website to see if they were possibly on sale when I saw the Mad maxx Frogs. They are beautiful! They look to be very similar to the Spro frogs, but the colors are just different. Has anyone used these? Im gonna be in a tournament fishing lily pads and need at least 2 new frogs. One of my spros had a leg ripped off. Anyone have luck witht eh Mad Maxx?

I was looking at wake baits as well. I need a good topwater bait but was thinking about getting a wake bait instead. Will this be an ok alternative for a topwater like a spook?
  9. what kind of line would you all use for cranking? I was thinking 10# Yo Zuri hybrid. Is that ok?
  10. I have been fishing for about 6 years now. Started with spinning and have about 4 years using baitcasting. I feel alot more comfortable fishing a shakey head worm on spinning. I just feel like i have more control. Also I like the spinning cause it can hold smaller line for the more finesse presentations like fishing a senko. If I can, Id rather go baitcaster. Im thinking its all personal preference
  11. I have heard they are really nice for the money. I was wondering, what would be the best size to get for an all around crankin rod. I am also going to get a REVO Winch for the setup. What do you all think? I will be using it for deep cranking and shallow cranking. Probably more for deep cranking. Plan on throwing DD22s and Strike King Series 5 Cranks, as well as smaller baits. 6'6" or 7'? and M or MH? I dont do alot of cranking yet but am starting to get into more and more tournaments so I am going to need too. Thanks!!!!!!!!
  12. Thanks Roadwarrior! So, about the alignment, if you lay the worm out with the curl tail going up, does the point of the hook come out on that side of the worm or the back? Just wanna get the best presentation! Thanks
  13. Hey all, I just bought some 10" anacondas for night fishing. Would a 5/0 Gamakatsu hook be the hook to use? And should I go straight or EWG? And when texas rigging should the hook point be on the side of the spine of the tail or the side of teh curve of the tail? Hope that makes sense. Anyone have a rigged picture of one? Thanks Guys. And when using the space monkey, do you just work it like a craw or creature bait? THANKS!
  14. Im going on vacation to Kentucky lake and lake Barkley the first few days of June. My Uncle, cousin and I always compete for the most weight on our trip. Fish in the same boat, so we fish the same areas. We go in the morning and at Night. I am not worried about night fishing, but Im a little worried about the day. We start off fishing the bank, hoping for some bass up close, then move deep. I have some questions about Lure selection. When were in close, do you think a Spro Bronzeye Frog would work? Also, do you think a shakey head, small crankbait, and senko would be good calls. Then when moving deep, should I start off throwing a crankbait that gets to the bottom, or one htat doesnt get all the way down first? Say were in 14 foot, should i be throwing a DD22 or DT14 or DT 16 or shold I start off throwing something that goes down about 11 or8? I dont do much deep point fishing. Also, should I try a big worm and Jig when fishing these deep points? Any ideas or suggestions would be great. Thanks!
  15. I love the Spro Bronze eye frog. Caught a bunch of fish on them. id say about 80% of the fish Ive caught have been 3 lbs or more. I personally like the albino white and rain forest green colors. Im gonna need a new albino white full size, my leg was ripped off the other day. Good use of it, you can see a whole bunch of bite marks on the back.
  16. I was about to mention the Z Nail, but I dont think they make them anymore. Im thinking its the Magnum finesse worm.
  17. I soaked it in dish water which helped a little, but used a wet paper towel with some dish soap and it took alot away. Still a little sticky so I used some fine grit sandpaper which made it a little rough, but worked to take the stickyness off
  18. I was not sure where to put this question, but I figure this is as good a place than anywhere. I need to put my stuff in smaller plano tackle boxes to fit in my uncles back compartments of his boat. One of those has melted plastic on it which is still sticky. Is there anyway I can get that stuff off? Any tricks? Thanks!
  19. Spro Bronze eye frog. I like the original in the original size.
  20. I am looking for a reel for cranking and the Ardents all have 5 and 6 gear ratio models. I hear alot about a 5. something gear ratio for crankbaits so I am looking for one of these. Since the citica no longer has the 5.2 gear ratio I know I will be forced to get a reel around the $200 mark, so now the question is, which reel? I like my ardent, but I think it may be just a little to much money to spend on a hit or miss reel. I have had lousy luck with bass pro reels and am now looking for something which will last. The REVO Winch looks good, but will it cast 1/4 oz baits? Thank you all for your opinions, I value each persons comment as you all have more experience than me and can teach me alot!
  21. I am looking at getting a new reel and currently have one ardent reel. I like it, but I have read that some people have not had good results. I have only heard great things about shimano and the Abu Revos so I am thinking about those. Does anyone have an ardent?
  22. Dude, I sit in my basement at night trying to figure out how to organize mt tackle pretty much every night in the summer. I still dont have a lot of stuff yet, so its easier than when others have to do it. I have a bass pro Extreme Qualifier 370 bag. It comes with 4 3700 plano boxes. I went out and got a spinnerbait box the same size. SO I have one for the spinner baits, use one for jigs, one for terminal tackle and one for crankbaits. Jigs are sorted by color, crankbaits by depth. I have the deep divers all together, mid divers together, shallow together and top water. ON the very top of the lures, normally the darkest area on the back, I will write the depth they dive just to be more specific. Like I said, i dont have alot and I can keep pretty much all of my gear in this box. I have my plastics in gallon size ziplock bags depending on type, worm, senko, creature, craw, tube, and brush hogs. I have alot of brush hogs so they have their own bag. Terminal is all in the one box, hooks by size, weight by size then I really like a new way I am keeping my shakey head jig heads. I am an art major in college so I have used white foam core board. You can get it at hobby lobby or michaels. Even walmart i think. Cut a small part off to fit in the box, then stick the hook in the foam part, then the eye will stick into the paper part. It helps to write the size down, it helps me with organizing alot!

I have used the zoom finesse worms and they work, but I have caught a lot more fish in less time on the shaky head worm by zoom. I like the watermelon red color. Recently bought the mag shaky head worm by zoom, and net baits T Mac and Super T mac, hoping for bigger bites. Hoping the smaller fish will leave the super t mac alone, since its 9" long. I would for sure use your finesse worms thought. In the new Bass master they talk about using baby brush hogs on the shaky head. Try everything!
