  1. What size of Hooks do you all use when your throwing a BIG worm. Im talking a 10-12" even that 15" netbait C Mac. The biggest hooks I have are 5/o Gamakatsu hooks, thinking about getting some that are bigger for my big worms. Ive been throwing all my worms on these 5/o hooks but wondering if i should throw a longer hook. The long worms I throw or am getting for this season: 10" Rage Tail Anacondas 10" Rage Tail Thumper Worm 12" Manns Jelly Worm Zoom Ol Monster 12" Culprit Worm Thanks!
  2. Im planning on picking a few packs up, but not sure which size and color. I will be fishing Kentucky lake with the worms this spring and summer in the night and day. You all think Black Grape in both sizes and Watermelon Red in both sizes is a good choice? What size hooks do you all throw these on?
  3. So do yall suggest to just get the scrounger heads and put the fluke or senko type bodies on them or should i go with the skirted one with the fluke or senko? Thanks for all the information!
  4. Anybody throw these? They look interesting. I love putting a grub on the scrounger heads, but havent tried the swim jig that Luck 'e' strike makes. I was thinking about getting one to fish at Kentucky lake and my local ponds in st louis, but dont know what size or color to start off with. Any suggestions? first thought was getting a 1/4 oz. chartreuse white, white, or sexy shad color and put a white rage craw on it for my trailer, but not sure. What do yall think?
  5. Ballwin Here too. I have never done well at Busch Wildlife or Simpson Park. A place I use to fish alot is queeny park. The lake had all kinds of big fish, but they just redid the whole lake, so cant fish there yet. They have some smaller ponds in the back taht are ok though. Also, Kirkwood Park is redoing their pond. The water is WAY down and right now you can see the stumps and logs that they are going to cover. Looks like some good bass habitat! Gonna take a picture sometime soon.
  6. Still getting into tournament fishing, just finished fishing in college and we were sponsored by Daiwa so I have got to say Im partial to them since its really the most ive tried Rods- Daiwa Reels- Daiwa/ Ardent Soft Plastics- Zoom, Netbait, Rage Tail Hard Plastics- Strike King Line- Trilene Big Game/ Excel Storage- Bass Pro/Cabelas soft tackle bags
  7. I have the Cabelas Advanced Angler Pro Series Tackle Bag in the size Super Magnum. Awesome bag! its $60 without the boxes and holds 12- 3700 size plano boxes on the inside. with some waterproof compartments and zippers. A place for pliers, and extra places to put other things. The bottom is a hard molded plastic to sit up and keep the boxes good on the inside. i defiantly recommend the Cabelas advanced angler bag, dont know how big your lookin. The Super Magnum is huge but its really tight!
  8. I was fishing at a local pond before I could drive so i had my parents drop me off. I made a cast toward a big bush taht was in the middle of the pond. My texas rigged brush hog was buried in the branches and all the swinging wasnt doing anything so i tightened the drag and held the spool and walked backward waiting for my knot or line to break. All of teh sudden the line went slack, but something hit me in the forehead. I knew it had to be the bullet weight coming back and hitting me so i put my hand up to feel the lump it made. Turns out i was wrong, the hook was stuck there. I ripped it out cause I was alone and the blood was like a waterfall. It was about an inch and a half over my eye and i had no glasses so I got lucky.
  9. Anyone have any information on this lake? Imma be fishin it in Early November and have never been there
  10. 1/8 oz spot removers have put me in the money alot, with zoom finesse worms. Make sure you get the pro style, with the screw in wire, not the other ones.
  11. I like full size brush hogs, paca craws, 10 RageTail Anaconda. I really like the 5" Lake Fork creature, however im not sure they make them anymore. They had 2 legs with the swimbait kicking tail on the ends, and a big curl tail. I got a picture, They had that nasty really strong Garlic too
  12. Everyone says to keel weight the smokin rooster and space monkey. I am not quite sure what that would look like, can someone post a picture of how to rig it like that and explain how to work it. please
  13. Fishing the 4" ring fry on a shaky head helped me get top 3 in a tournament. We wernt catching anything on zoom stuff, but the ring fry was getting bites from everything
  14. I have a little duffel bag that I carry with stand up flat bottom ziplock bags, or gallon sized zip locks. I have labeled these in a few different ways. I will use a label maker to mark finesse worms, ribbon tail worms, senkos, brush hogs, etc. Or another thing I like to do is get different colors of tape and tape the edges of the bags for support. its also a color code, like green for worms, red for creatures, and so on. It works pretty well for me. and its cheaper than buying one of those tackle binders. Personally the stand up flat bottom zip lock bags are my favorites because you can take them out and set them out and kinda sift through the bags of plastics.
  15. for sure bps for me, i live within walking distance of the headquarters in Springfield. (only for a few more months, then i am back in st louis to student teach :'()
  16. I am gonna be using a spro frog in lily pads in a few weeks. I normally, about 90% of the time throw it in slop, the other 10% is in open water. Most of the time they hit the beast when its on the move and i seem to get 2 or 3 shots at a fish as they go after it more than once (Everytime I see the explosion i wanna set the hook, its just to darn hard to wait). is this the same when fishing pads? Should i let it rest between the pads or on top? thanks!
  17. I like the regular thinner 5/0 gamakatsu ewg hooks. They may be a little smaller, but i feel that if i have a weak hook set the thinner hook will be easier to set the hook. The 6/0 hooks are thick, but they will work. ive had alot of luck with green pumpkin and Okeechobee craw at night as well as the black. THe 10" Anaconda Rage tails are my go to baits at night. I like Netbait Paca Craws and Brush hogs too. They put off alot of water. Good luck, let us know how it goes
  18. My favorite Spro Frog was beaten to death in battle and a fish stole on of his legs. The other one was losing strands and started melting so I ripped it out. I wanted to replace the legs so i found a way to get 3 long pieces of nylon string through to become the legs. I unraveled the nylon making it look like it was crimped hair, so i had 9 strands for each leg. Looked amazing (white nylon on the albino frog) but it was a hassle in a half to get the soaked nylon from tangling in the hooks. I had a few bites, but it was too much of a hassle. Is there any way to make other legs? Their just so expensive, I really dont wanna have to replace it but will if i have too. Thanks all.
  19. I like the Gambler version of the chatter bait. It looks really good in white on a slow steady retrieve.
  20. im gonna go braid on 2 of my 5 rods. one for frogs one for plastics. Still not sure which brand though
  21. looking to buy some braided line, but was originally looking at getting it just for my frog rod. Do i need it for my rod that will be flipping plastics into lily pads too? also, what does everyone recomend? I was looking at power pro and Sufix as of now.

i use a 5/0 gamakatsu offset hook. Sometimes EWG sometimes not, but i two would go 5/0. Looks like they have new 6/0 and 7/0 EWG hooks now, im gonna have to try them. As for the 9 or 10 pack difference, I have never seen it. maybe it was a typo or something. I know i bought a pack of lake fork ring fries from bass pro that had a magic marker line over where it said 15 pack and they only put 10 or 12 in a pack now. Who knows with these bait companies.
  23. this bait does look mighty nice. The rigging instructions are very helpful too! i would have been confused out of my mind trying to figure it out
  24. for the most part i fish in slop and dont need to walk the dog too much, but i trimmed 3/4" off on one frog and believe it walked a little easier than with the longer legs. but slack line and softed twitches seem to help out for me
