First off I agree totally with what The_Natural stated when he said the word attractant is the wrong nomenclature. Secondly this was not an attack on anyone or any product; my point was that anise oil is not toxicant to fish and that fish will not reject baits solely on the fact that it contains anise oil or had anise oil sprayed on it. Yes 100% pure anise oil in mass quantities wouldn't be healthy for human or animal consumption but when I add ½ oz anise oil to 8 ozs Fish Formula II or Baitmate, then spray a small amount on my worm and cast it into Toledo Bend Reservoir which contains 1,448,934,927,000 gallons of water I'd say it's pretty much diluted. I use attractants for two purposes first as a lubricant because I fish in grass a lot and the attractant helps my plastic baits slide through easier; I believe it will mast any odor my plastics may have picked up. I log the following information into Micro Soft Word date, time, weather, water clarity, depth, structure, cover, techniques, lure, total number caught, total keepers caught, & largest bass caught. At the first opportunity I transfer this data into Micro Soft Excel there by giving me a searchable log or I can sort by any parameter. I have topographical maps dating back to the mid to late fifties showing structure not found on most supposedly updated maps.

I like Hart Throb Buzz Baits, Boogerman Racket Buzz, & Lunker Lure The Cavitron Buzz Baits are very interesting looking but I prefer to throw a ½ oz and if they offered one I would buy a couple.

Raul Don't they look good though, it aint like they are beer bellied, farmer's tan, ole ball cap with a mesh back; they are the picture perfect bass anglers.

There are a group of us seasoned angles on the Bend who are referred to as Old Farts Fishing Club (OFFC) & this is putting it mildly; we regularly spank the young guns. Glenn, while I respect Bobby and your option my problem is Bobby stated Would somebody please read a SDS (Safety Data Sheet) on pure anise oil. Not only have I read the Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) but I to have used it daily in my career as a Manufacturing Engineer, I'm also very familiar with The Code of Federal Regulations (CFR). It's has been quoted many times that anise oil is a poison and bass will spite out any bait with this scent on it, first nowhere does any study show anise oil as a poison, secondly if anise oil is strongly rejected by bass why is it used through out the entire lure industry and why have thousands of anglers caught bass on lures with anise oil in them or on them. Another quote taken out of contest is Oil molecules are much too large to fit into the chemo receptors of the fish. It would be like a tennis ball rolling over the top of a wine glass, this statement in its original was talking about petroleum oil but the part about chemo receptor of fish was added because it was a nice catch phrase. As for Berkley and the book "Knowing Bass" by Dr. Keith Jones I refer you to roadwarrior's reply; "Dr. Jones" is employed by Berkley. His work is NOT peer reviewed and his "testing" cannot be independently confirmed because his data base and methodology are "proprietary." From a purely scientific stand point (as Lane has pointed out), Berkley's/ Dr. Jones' findings are purely speculation or more pointedly, promotional propaganda. Finally Glenn yes I know how to search the Web to find verified, supported, proven, and accepted data, I'm an engineer and that's what I do.

This is an Alweld 14' with a 40 flat bottom & it's rated for a 25; that is a stock Suzuki which is a 3 cylinder, 2 stroke, oil injected, 3 carb, & is 33.3 cu. in.

Jeff H, the FTD is a fine boat but I'm not sure they are worth the extra cost; it doesn't have any more storage than the 183CX but I do like it. Thanks for the in put guys; I'm going to have to find a dealer for each boat and then see what happens. If you're in an easy conference going undefeated isn't hard but with the SEC it's almost impossible. LSU had played 5 ranked teams out of 7 games no other top 10 team can say that and next week it will be #17 Auburn. One thing I've always wondered about is when you place the jig into the oven to cure the paint does it hurt the weed guard? I understand the oven doesn't heat the hook enough to affect the temper but the weed guard is a fiber.

I agree with LBH it's more about discipline than skill because it take discipline to fish a bait long enough to acquire the skill to be proficient. For me its crank baits, I totally hate using them unless it's Traps or Rogues. >
