Where do they go when the sun comes out
Bass will do one of two things, they will move shallow or they will move deep I would suggest graphing the area with your depth finder in an ever increasing radius until you locate the bass.

Spot or Pattern
To define a pattern: a recurring set of conditions that lead to catching bass. When anglers refer to the term "pattern" or "pattern fishing" they are talking about the ever changing combination of two factors: bass (spot) location and the type presentation needed to trigger strikes. Simply put, a "pattern" refers to what the bass are doing and where they are doing it at a given time on a given body of water. Seasonal Patterns During the different seasons the fish will relate to certain structure or areas. Winter fish will go deep and so will summer fish. Fall and spring fish will move into the shallow water to spawn or feed.

what would you use in this situation?
FYI Emergeant grass: rooted in shallow water and having most of its vegetative growth above water

Fishing high pressured areas
I think a decision on fishing off shore structure is in order, so Jim and RW why not start one. I've played around with writing one but end up to detailed and delete the whole thing. We've all talked about what kind of structures to look for but let's talk about how to go about finding them?

Spot or Pattern
You can't establish a pattern without fishing a spot Part of a pattern is the spot (location) hump, point, ridge, creek channel, flat, shoreline ECT. I start by fishing a spot, establishing a pattern, and then moving onto similar spots.

Tournament Fishing and Fast Boats
First most 18 foot bass boats are actually over 18' Basscat Sabre 18' 1 93 Champion 188 Elite: 18' 8 beam 92.5 Nitro 591 18' 7 beam 94 Ranger 188 VS 18' 8 beam 92.5 Skeeter SX 190 18' 5 beam 90 Triton 186 18' 6 beam 91' Any one of these boats will handle any body of water under rough conditions if driven correctly. If it's too rough for any of these boats to safely handle it a foot or two additional lengths will not be a huge advantage. Both B.A.S.S. and FLW will delay, postpone, or cancel tournaments if the conditions are that unsafe.

Tournament Fishing and Fast Boats
The correct answer here is the adrenaline rush of running Legend LE21 with a 300 HPDI Yamaha at 80+ mph is unmatched. My view is any boat over 18' in length and an outboard over 150 hp is simply bragging I fish Toledo Bend Reservoir there are not many lake that get any nastier than this and I win my share of tournaments while fishing in boats from 16' to 18'. The key to handling rough water is not the boat but the driver.

buzzbait tips
I agree with avid, I never use a trailer hook on buzz or spinner baits I also don't use a high speed reel preferring to reel the buzz bait just fast enough to keep it on the surface.

Who's better
I know a few anglers who have caught 100's of trophy bass but no one here has ever hear of them and I also know some anglers who consistently catch bass daily but have no desire to tournament fish. Both groups are totally happy remaining anonymous There is no best angler, one may be better on a particular day but that does not make them the best.

Good Old Aluminum Boat Question
Scuff sanding then applying alodine will stop the corrosion; do not cut the corroded section out unless the pits are over 50% of the depth of the original metal thickness. Use at least 180 grit sand paper to remove the corrosion followed with 220 grit sand paper. Fill in the pits with Epoxy putty, sand, and paint
