Another beer thread
One of the best parts about the area I live in....Total Wine and Spirits. They have a freakin ridiculous selection of everything. Cigars, booze, beer, wine, etc etc. The great part about them is that you can buy single bottles of basically anything in the store if you want to try something out. I'll stop there once in a while to grab a few individual bottles of different beer to try out. I've found some that I've loved, some that I've hated, some that are kind of in the middle of the road. Most of the ones I've really liked are the very small micro brewery type beers. Thankfully single bottles are fairly inexpensive.

Thumped 'em
Nice fish right there. They sure looked like they were sucking that thing in deep. I've become a fan of the baby thumper. Those worms flat out catch fish.

Checking everything twice...
I honestly don't care if I get anything for Christmas. As long as the kids have a good time I'm happy. That being said, if any of you want to donate to my tackle fund....

Best knot for attaching a leader to braid
Alberto knot. I've never broken one. The first time I used it I was really surprised at the knot strength. It's also a very small profile knot. http://www.stripersonline.com/Pages/Articles/article_arby_albertos_knot.shtml

Braid or Floro?
I'm a big fan of braid with a fluoro leader. Best of both worlds. I recently tried using straight fluoro and just couldn't get into liking it. I felt like I was setting the hook with a wet noodle after using braid so much.

Swimbait/Frog/Flip-Pitch Rod?
I use a Crucial 7'6" MH flippin stick for all of the duties you mentioned. It's a really versatile stick. You can throw smaller swimbaits with it, but a real swimbait rod would probably be a better choice in the long run.

Help with swim jigs
I'd start with checking the trailer. That is usually the problem with the jig rolling over. The same will hold true with spinnerbaits that have a plastic trailer added. If it isn't straight, the lure will want to lean to one side or the other. Afterwards you can check the skirt to see if it has been bunched up more on one side. Spread it out evenly across the jig if you think that may be the problem. Sometimes it's also the jig. Not all swim jigs are created equal.

A couple drop shot questions..
Good article right there. Added that one to my bookmarks.

Rounds in the home
Ted Nugent? He's not quite Nugent, but he's gotta be really close. The best part, this guy isn't even a hunter. He just likes guns....a lot.

Worm fishing during the pre spawn?
Thats probably one of the best quotes I've heard in some time. I haven't actively fished a "worm" for a while. I've found myself using creature baits or plastic craws much more. There certainly are times that a worm can be more effective though. As far as the pre spawn goes: Once you locate fish and work through them with your typical moving baits, you should always go through the area with some type of plastic bait or a jig at some point. Changing up to a bottom bouncing bait is almost always a good way to get a few more bites out of the area you're fishing in.

Line lays heavy on bottom of spinning reel
First thing I thought when I read the thread title was spacers. Since you said thats not the problem, I'd say the spool may have a defect. If not, Francho probably hit the nail on the head with the bail arm.

Rounds in the home
I've got roughly 250 rounds locked up at home for my pistol. I don't shoot that often. Most of those are in a box sitting on a shelf. I've got three magazines that are loaded and locked away in my safe with the pistol. A good friend of mine is a serious gun nut though. He's got thousands of rounds of different types in his house. I mean he's a serious firearms guy though. He's probably got a couple hundred different weapons stored at home.

Handguns
That Commander is pretty nice lookin. Love the black/white combination. Is it just me, or do the grips look like they don't fit that handle right?

A couple drop shot questions..
What size drop shot hook is the best? I personally use a #1 for most applications. Other people will use different sizes. If you're using a larger bait, don't be afraid of using a larger hook. What kind of lure do you use? I have a brand new pack of 3" Berkley grubs that I have laying around. Almost anything will work. I've been having a lot of fun lately using a small Lake Fork Magic shad. Roboworms are great also. A small fluke. Basically anything that will match the size of a prey species of fish. Where do you throw it at?(lilys...banks..etc.) Throw it wherever you want. If you're using heavier line and hooks, you can use it in pretty thick cover. I personally use mine around submerged structure for the most part. Drag it across points, rockpiles, or any other structure. Working it on the outside edge of a weedline can be fantastic during the right time of the year. HOW do you fish it? Slow..fast? Let the fish tell you. You can hop it, drag it, twitch it, or shake it. The drop shot is extremely versatile. Lots of times, just the motion of the boat moving will give you more than enough action to get a bite. I usually start out fishing it slowly while covering water. If I'm not getting bit I'll speed it up a bit. Twitch and pause it until you get bit. What about line? Ive been using fluro alot latley. Would that be ok? You'll be fine with fluoro. Lots of people like to use braid with a fluoro leader, myself included. That may be something you want to try some day. Otherwise you'll do just fine with fluorocarbon. And lastly how heavy of a weight do you use? Heavy enough to be used effectively in the depth you're fishing. I normally use 1/4 in most situations. I'll move to 3/8 if I'm getting a little deeper (25+). 1/2 only when I'm fishing very deep water (40+). You want to be able to have the sinker maintain contact with the bottom.

Handguns
Beretta 92 Had one as a sidearm when I was on active duty and loved it. I bought one shortly after I was discharged mainly because I was very familiar with it. Bought for home defense & CCW. I rarely carry though. I've been considering picking a Glock 21 at some point. I'm not in any big rush though.

McNabb gets new contract!!!
Thats the first thing I thought of when I heard this on ESPN. If the Redskins are willing to let him hang around like Farve then you never know.
-
The future in Minnesota..
There was a time when I really enjoyed watching Farve play. Dude was just fun to watch. Now it's like driving down the highway and seeing a really bad car wreck. You know it's going to be ugly, but you just can't turn away from it. He really needs to just hang it up and retire.

Freakin Cops
Oh believe me, it's going to court. I already got in touch with my lawyer. I'm also going to file a complaint on the guy for his complete lack of professionalism. I don't know if he thought he could scare me by acting all big and bad assed, but he failed.

Freakin Cops
You know, I know that most cops are decent people. Hell, I think that most of them do a good job. The one I met today on the other hand....well I hope falls off his motorcycle and cracks his head on the blacktop. I just got a close to 200 dollar ticket for dropping my daughters off at school....at one of the school entrances. No signs that say No unloading, stopping, standing, etc etc. Nothing. I've used this entrance on and off for the last couple of years. Never had a problem. So CHIPS rolls up and pounds on my window, "HAY U R NOT CAN DROP KIDS OFF HERE!!!" I was about two steps away from getting out and pounding on this runt. Another prime example of a jackass cop. I'll be taking that ticket to court.

Favorite 10" worm?
Dichoso Baits Lunker Worm (Love Romeo's products) Ol Monster C-Mac Thumper Anaconda Culprit 10" Is one better than another? Eh, in certain situations the Rage worms are a better choice just because they tend to move more water. I'm good with just about any large worm most of the time though.

Info needed-Planning a trip to Miami
I'll put it this way: If it's inside of a housing development, treat it as private. Lots of times though, there is plenty of bank access to them. The lake I live on is private, on the side of the lake where there are no houses, you can get bank access behind a church and a school. For the most part, people won't really bother you. Like anywhere though, all it takes is one person to call and make a complaint. If you're asked to leave, just leave and find a different spot. There are several parks in Dade and Broward counties that encourage recreational fishing. Some of them have great bank access, some don't. The golf courses are great fishing...just try not to get caught.

COD: Black Ops
Not having shotguns as a secondary is fine with me. My biggest complaint is that if you have Ghost on as a perk you wear a ghillie suit. I can't stand seeing every dude running around looking like a freakin sniper...and they aren't.

moss & merriman
Moss is done. I didn't get to see any of Merriman. Pennington and Henne are both done for the year. Thigpen for the rest of the season.... The Dolphins have reportedly contacted Jamarcus Russell. I don't understand?!?! Mr. Purple Drank might be in a Phins uniform? God help us.
