  1. I got my baits in today too! Also a bunch of roboworms and dropshot weights. Fishing season's kind of over in New York though. I should move to Florida...
  2. if you are willing to add another $50, I can almost guarantee that he will love this reel: http://www.***.com/Shimano_Stradic_CI4_Spinning_Reel/descpage-SSCMG.html I'm sure everyone else on this board who has one will agree with me. I would get the 2500 size.
  3. this year's sale is kind of disappointing. don't think I'll be there early to take advantage of this.
  4. roadwarrior, What color/weight combo of the swarming hornet and live magic shad seems to work so well for you?
  5. I've seen tiny baby bass aggressively strike my big jerkbaits before, although I was unable to hook them.
  6. Gangley said it perfectly.
  7. What colors do you guys use for the straight tail worms? I always wondered what these worms are supposed to imitate: worm or baitfish?
  8. has anyone tried these yet? http://www.***.com/Lucky_Craft_Pointer_95_Silent/descpage-LCPS.html#multiview I really prefer using silent baits because I fish heavily pressured waters, but they changed up the weighting system in the silent ones. Are they still as effective? I like the normal pointer 100's, but I always feel like they are way too loud (I can hear it from my boat even when the bait is underwater and 5-10 feet away). Any insight would be appreciated.
  9. great post. I agree with 95% of the things said here.
  10. How important is the fluoro leader when dropshotting? I've always tied everything directly to 30 pound powerpro, but then again, I have not had much success with the dropshot rig at all.
  11. x2. I really enjoy using my curado but don't really feel much for my citica.
  12. my first 2 baitcasting reels were an STX and a Citica. The STX outshines it in almost every way. in my opinion, centrifugal brakes aren't nearly as important as some make them out to be.
  13. Great review. I just purchased a Cielo 6'6" MH casting rod without the titanium tip and it is incredibly light and sensitive. Also has the backbone to pull fish out of heavy cover, I am very satisfied with it. I also bought it from TW for $120. And to answer your question about the blank, it is not the same blank as the Steez. I talked to a Daiwa rep and he said that the technology used to build the blanks are the same, but the Steez has higher quality graphite.
  14. this is not true. I have used both extensively and the senkos are much softer and have much more wiggling action as they fall. I'm not saying they are made by two completely different companies, but the material they are made up of is definitely different. Dude, it has been discussed ad nauseum and confirmed by GYCB pro staffers and by GYCB itself, GYCB Senko and Kinami Flash is the same bait. READ is there a possibility that wal-mart carries very old products then? I am playing with a bag of senkos and a bag of kinami baits and they are VERY different. I'm talking the kinami bait is MUCH stiffer and I even placed them in water and it has significantly less action than the senko. It would be possible to argue that this bag could have been a bad batch, but I have also noticed this in the past as well, although I have not thoroughly tested it before. I'm sorry, but I simply cannot believe they are the same. Maybe my wal-mart is just scamming me also, just ripped them apart and they even rip differently. the kinami bait flakes off easier and the senko is stretchier. I'm not saying the GYCB staff is lying when they said they are manufactured the same, but when they arrive in MY hands through wal-mart and are used for fishing, there is a solid difference.

  16. my favorite thing to do in this situation is to fish a lipless crank and let it sink into the top of the weeds and then rip it out. the bites will come when the bait is ripped out and starts falling. this technique has produced very well for me this year.

  18. if the stradic CI4 is in your range, then I would say without a doubt go with that reel.
  19. these are some of the most exciting times to fish because the bass are so aggressive. I've had great success with the heddon spit'n image, red eye shad, and jerkbaits.
  20. I've used both and I like the Carbonlite a lot better. They were both casting rods though, not sure if that changes anything. I know the abu garcia vendetta casting rods are great, but their spinning rods are not.
  21. i'm always hesitant to replace the hooks on my jitterbugs because i'm afraid if I unscrew the bottom part, it won't be as strong after I rescrew it back in. has anyone had any experience in this area?
  22. x2. Keep the retrieve constant and don't try to set the hook until you feel weight on the line.
  23. 1/2 oz football head jig black and blue with junebug rage craw trailer
  24. I learned how to use a baitcaster on a Revo STX earlier this season actually. It took almost no effort at all for me to make the switch from spinning, and I was casting and pitching almost perfectly by my second outing. The key is to buy practice casting plugs and practice on your lawn. Half an hour of that and you will be all set.
  25. Depending on how big the average sized bass is in the lakes you are fishing, I would go for a Pointer 100 in ghost minnow color. With this lure I tend to catch bigger bass but have less strikes. Not sure how big the bass get in NC, but anything bigger than a 100 would be specific for targeting some real lunkers
