  1. Yeah I've tried this before with a different promo code. They don't stack with sales.
  2. How did you get the Chronach CI4+ for $180? I'm seeing $202...
  3. Mike, I use these hooks and they are pretty solid. I use them for flipping with straight braid and after swinging for the fences sometimes, I still have not noticed any bending of the hook. Also, the non flipping owner twistlock hooks are amazing if you fish plastic frogs.
  4. Thanks for the responses so far. What is the right way to charge these batteries in order to prolong their lifespan? Do you guys charge them immediately after each use?
  5. I just recently purchased a Humminbird 798ci for my kayak and I was wondering what kind of battery and charger I can use. Since I do not have a trolling motor, there will not be any batteries already on board. I heard a small 12V battery will be enough, but how many hours will I be able to get out of this if I use side imaging? Also, what kind of charger do I need for this battery? Can I use my trolling motor deep cycle battery charger? If anyone could recommend a type or brand of battery too, that would be really helpful.
  6. Yeah, I think I will have to go try some out myself. It is kind of difficult right now because I live in a city and don't have a car. Unfortunately, there are no places around me that have the kayaks that I want to test out. Darren, would you mind sending me those pictures of your modded Native when you get the chance? Thanks!
  7. Thanks for the responses so far. What do you think is the maximum weight I should be looking for if I want to be able to carry the kayak myself and load it on top of my car myself?
  8. Hey guys, I am looking to buy a kayak to use primarily in small lakes. I have read a lot of previous posts about what everyone's favorite kayak for fishing is, but I was wondering if you guys could help recommend the best option for my situation. Here is what I am looking for: Priced less than $1300. Must be stable enough for me to fish while standing up. Must be light enough for me to put it on top of my car, which has a Thule rod rack. My car is a Honda CR-V and I am a 5'11" man who lifts weight regularly. Strongly prefer a kayak that has some kind of built in feature that will make it easy to install a transducer. Based on my research, here are three kayaks I found that fit what I am looking for at least somewhat: Old Town Predator 13 Wilderness Systems Ride 115X Native Ultimate 12 Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!
  9. No problem, thanks for the quick response. I just sent you an email with some questions about an order.
  10. Are these wire ties or rattle bands?
  11. Hey guys, I will be staying in the Homestead/Florida City area for two nights and would like to find some good places to fish for some largemouth or peacocks from the banks in the evenings and early mornings. Could anyone give me any suggestions? Thanks in advance, Kevin
  12. I wanted to buy some Megastrike and was going to buy the original, but the vendor selling it to me kept pushing me to buy the crawfish version of Megastrike. My understanding is that there are an original, garlic, and crawfish scents? Which one do you guys find most effective?
  13. I have been having success with the spro bronzeye frog 65s, but I have never tried the popping version of them. I have heard that you can also walk the dog with the poppers, so I am curious to try them. My question to you is: which do you prefer and why, and do you prefer one over the other in certain situations?
  14. My favorite hook is the Owner TwistLock Flippin' Hook 4/0. I screw the end with the tentacles into the twistlock and I texpose the hook. I have never lost a fish on this, and I can catch many fish on a single fat ika.
  15. By C-rig, he means carolina rig. It is like a texas rig but the weight is further down the line, which allows the bait to float up a bit from the bottom. Try googling "carolina rig" and you should see many pictures.
  16. This is not always the case. Some of my buddies swear on clear topwater lures so that it is not that visible and causes the fish to give a reaction strike. I guess both are valid techniques, just depends on the situation and setting.
  17. Yes, I've had success when I've dragged the frog 3-6 inches at a time. When you think about it, that's actually a more natural frog movement than walking it. That being said, I know some people who are really good at walking baits with their rod tips up. I can't do it well myself, but I think you should give it a try since you can do it while sitting down.
  18. I used to wonder the same thing and now my answer is most definitely yes, at times. People used to always tell me that the fish can only see the bottom of the bait, so the color of the belly was all that mattered. This is not true for all baits (for example: spook) as the sides of the bait is often visible, especially in clear water. I have had many instances where I used a certain topwater and had fish follow the bait to the boat, then switched to the same bait in a different color and have the fish take it without hesitation. At night or in murky water, the outline of the bait is more important because it is easier for the fish to see it. Colors can't be seen anyway so you might as well make it as visible as possible.
  19. Natural colors work best for me. Either a transparent bait, or greens and browns. BobP is right on, you don't want the fish to take a good look at the bait because it will notice unnatural aspects and cause it to not strike the bait. You are located in Philly? I am as well. Where in Philly are you?
  20. Is it really necessary to get such a heavy hook? The heaviest swimbait hook that I own is 1/4 oz. What retrieves generally work well? Should I let the fast current push the bait downstream while twitching? Or hop it off the bottom?
  21. The dam is 90 feet wide, and there is a fish ladder on one side. However, you are not allowed to fish within 100 feet of the ladder so I typically fish the other side that doesn't have a ladder. The dam is also diagonally placed so that the side with the fish ladder is shallow, and the other side is deep. This dam is the first dam the fish encounter during their migration, so most of them do not make it up the ladder.
  22. I've recently been trying to fish under a dam (where there is water constantly flowing over it) for all kinds of bass. The river is in PA, is decent sized and right under the dam it is about 20 feet deep. This river is known for the striper runs, but I am also targeting largemouth and smallmouth that live around the area. There is a rocky bottom underneath the dam and snags are fairly frequent. I will be fishing from shore so my range is limited. What kind of baits work well in these conditions? Should I be fishing right under the falls or further away from the dam? How deep will the fish be?
  23. My medium fast casting rod has a 51e on it and is a dedicated shakey head and finesse jig rod. It is my favorite setup to throw.
  24. Looking forward to the report!
  25. Thanks for all the replies! I think I've decided on a pair of breathable chest waders, specifically these because I can get them pretty cheap: http://www.hodgman.c...r-P2089C60.aspx What kind of wading shoes do you guys use that are good? I am planning on not just wading rivers, but wading into some ponds that have some nasty stuff and most likely leeches hidden in the weeds, so I think a closed boot would probably be best, or maybe even just an attached boot. I am also on a budget, so the cheaper the better. @baluga - I couldn't find the Ozark Trail shoes you are referring to. Do they not make them anymore? Could you share a link so that I can see which ones you are talking about?
