SCAMMED Buyer Beware resolved...finally
Thank you. That means a lot from you two. I don't wish this upon anyone. And I'll be the first to admit it was my mistake and my fault.

SCAMMED Buyer Beware resolved...finally
Jon, again, I apologize. I can provide hospital records if you really want them. Everything I told you can ultimately be tracked, if you believe me or not. We talked for some time when he informed me. I even offered him my phone number so he can speak to me in person and allow me to explain myself. brushhoggin, it is. skunked_again, mistakes happen. Like you said, we're all human. I fixed it as quickly as I could. Jon didn't really want the reel, so I provided the receipt so he can return it and get what he ultimately wants. "I recently purchased a 14 Biocube Hood from iFish's. Great communication and the hood was in perfect condition. Definitely recommend him as a seller." http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showpost.php?p=15092765&postcount=1 "I recently purchased a 150w mh light from nick. He cares more about you being happy with what you are buying than making money. Def recommended and I would buy from him again for sure. thanks Nick A++" http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showpost.php?p=15632616&postcount=5 Additional feedback can be found here: http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1645555&highlight=ifisch Again, a simple mistake. I made an attempt to inform family to get the right product out to the right person in a timely manner, from the hospital. Obviously this didn't happen in this instance. I sincerely apologize to Jon, and everyone else here.

Quantum Cabo pt spinning reels.....any input??
Well I've briefly owned a Cabo 20. Returned it two weeks later, got the Sol. I shouldn't have even wasted my time. The quality of the Sol is a bit greater than the Cabo, IMO. I've also owned the Catalyst as well. I've tried and tested Quantum SW reels. Feel they're a bit overpriced, IMO. Decent reels, but if you can get a Cabo for $150, do it. If you're paying the same price as a Sol, don't even think about the Cabo. I'm not a "fan boy" of Daiwa, I'm just telling you, honestly, you're better off with the Sol or Sustaian by Shimano. I just don't feel the Cabo and Sol are in the same "class". You may, and that's fine. But I couldn't justify the price of the Cabo for the quality you're getting. You're getting $150 quality, for $200. That's what I'm trying to say. The only thing I love about Quantum, is their drag. It's mighty sweet. But then again, the Sol is 2x smoother, and it too, is mighty sweet. So there's always going to tradeoffs in the reel industry. This is purely my opinion. Take what you will. Like I mentioned, I'm not a "fan boy" of Daiwa. I would like to recommend the best reel that's in that price range. And I do not believe the Cabo belongs there.

Quantum Cabo pt spinning reels.....any input??
....just a counterpoint.... the cabo has a TiMag bail... epoxy coated magnets, that replace bail springs...that wont corrode or wear out.... ceramic drag supported by twin bearings...... seems to me that the cabo is a much more equipped reel for the salt!!! For SW dunking you mean. ;D If you don't dunk you're reels, any FW, sealed drag and anti-corrosion bearings will serve just as well in SW, than FW. Since I rinse my equipment after each SW use, I don't see the point. And I don't dunk my equipment either. But if you plan on just buying it, using it, and storing it, go with the Cabo. Like you said, built for the salt it's going to retain. :-/

Berkley Power Baits
They should be, considering the price. Like I mentioned I'm new to fishing, but I thought I overpaid for these. http://www.berkley-fishing.com/prod.php?k=96579&sk=95807&u=PCATS132 I panfish primarily, but I have $150 reels and rods. $1.25 a piece for these little guys is a little pricey, but they are extremely dealdly. Now, I need different colors, and now I'm looking at $20 with tax. I wish I made more $. I also use the panfish series Gulp Alive baits. Love 'em both. Slowly learning it's Berkely or nothing when it comes to plastic baits. I only touch LC, Sebile or Spro lures. I'm pretty loyal to what works. Plus I like buying quality. The colors and quality of the LC lures are unmatched. Well, except for maybe JDM imports (Megabass etc). But I'd rather support local retailers, because you can't get the kind of advice/support from an online retailer that you can locally.

Berkley Power Baits
Well, let me restate what I meant. To "try" a pack of 3 plastics for $10, is a little pricey. If they catch fish, then their worth their weight in gold. I own many LC lures, and at $15 a pop, I've caught a-many fishes before, so I am pleased with my purchase. But like you, I haven't heard enough "good" things, to justify the price of the Berkely ones. However they seem to put out a quality product, no matter what it is. (And yes, I'm new [6months] to fishing)

Quantum Cabo pt spinning reels.....any input??
That's too bad. In this situation, the Cabo is the overpriced reel, and the Sol is the underpriced reel. The Cabo has a "SW paint job", but if you briefly flush your gear after each use, this "special paint job" is pointless. If you've never owned a $200+ reel, I highly suggest you reconsider the Sol. At this price point, reels are considerbly better than a $100 reel. But, you'd hope so, considering it's twice as much.

Berkley Power Baits
To rich for my blood. $3 a piece is a little pricey for me. But I hear decent stuff about 'em.. I like SK Shadalicious for the price. My BPS, for some reason, has packages of 7 - 3.5", instead of 6. So I get an even better deal. And all my packages have been of 7. Even the employees were shocked when we opened a package. Had EXCELLENT luck with the SK in SW, lots of large 20" sea trout, but have yet to catch a bass on one. :-[ And no, I use a "fresh" bait in FW, and keep my SW used SK's in a different ziplock bag.

Matt Lures Baby Bass Series
Glad you mentioned this. I like "playing" with my fish for a few minutes. My strongest rod is a 7'ML. Everything else is 6' "L"'. If I get a Spro or TT hard 4" swimbait, will I be allowed to "play" with the first for a minute before landing, or are these baits designed to be used with much heavier rods?

Quantum Cabo pt spinning reels.....any input??
Yeppers. That's why I suggested it. The Stradic is also a very fine reel for the price. Just be sure to give any SW reel a quick FW rinse, if you want to save your investment. Don't use a lot of water pressure. If anything, just use the tip of your hose and give it a 2 second bath to wash off the SW. It will help keep the spool and reel in good shape.

Shimano Clarus Advice?
Far better rod here: http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_104151_100002002_100000000_100002000_100-2-2 Print this, and bring it to BPS store and have them price match it. EXTREMELY light and sensitive. I swear to God, you cannot find a better rod, for $60.

Two words: Daiwa Sol 'nuff said. About 2.5x better than anything Quantum.

I'll call ahead of time. There's one about 10 miles away. I'd like to try the "Beast" hooks. I hear good stuff about 'em.. Thanks for the tip!

For some reason my BPS doesn't carry them. Need to find a tackle shop that does..

What species do you like catching better.
You got that right. One of my favorite fish to go for is the good old bluegill and right now, Kentucky lake, which I live about 15 minutes from, seems to be growing some bulls. I like catching smallmouth more than largemouth, but largemouth are more abundant, so I'd say its a toss up for me. According to my Crappie magazine, it said there was more panfish/crappie caught and released than LM last year. This was a general poll, and there were 3,000 more panfish/crappie released according to those polled. And there's an article on how panfishing is becoming the "hottest" or "next" thing to do. Caught a nice slab 14"er this morning on my Falcon "L" which is like a stronger UL. There ratings are a little harder. With my Plfueger size 20 reel.. and man, the way the line ran and the rod bounced was amazing. I couldn't think of anything better. Wish they were like tarpon - once they're hooked they try extremely hard to get off. That'd be the ultimate fish. A hybrid tarpon/panfish! ;D In fact I'm selling all my heavier gear for ML (bass) or UL/L (panfish). I do like 70/30 (panfish/bass). So I only need one bass rod and two panfish rods. I kayak fish, so 3 rods is considered "a lot", as room is extremely limited.

Strike King Sexy Swimmer
I heard a few complaints about the plastic joints... I'm thinking Sebile for my first hard SB. Saw the Sexy Swimmer at BPS but didn't handle it.

Strike King® Shadalicious Swimbait
6/0 for what size SK? A 6/0 should do the trick for the 4.5" baits. Certainly not the 3.5" baits. Use the 4/0 hook Here you go: http://www.ownerhooks.com/pages/products/hooks/basshooks.htm 4/0 for 3.5 and 6/0 for 4.5, correct? That's what I've been using. I use the Owner Phantom hooks... nice hooks.

Panfish. Nothing like catching a 13/14+ " fish on UL gear with UL reels. Otherwise, LM.

How Subjective is Sensitivity?
That's because, to my knowledge, none cost $375. However the Steez rods are supposed to be FINE . rods.. not a lot of rods more than $375 huh... : http://www.megabassusa.com/Baitcasting.htm Try a little price comparison on these megabass rods... That's because I live in the USA. Those rods are made in Japan, Korea, wherever. The idea of "importing" a rod... :'( That's just nuts. So are the people who pay $500+ for them. But hey, I can still catch fish on my $150 rod. 8-) Oh, maybe because I don't make 10 figures, to be importing rods, reels and even LINE! Who makes the best Japenese hooks? I want some.. I'd bet they'd be $10 a hook. I'll take a pack of 25 please.

A whole bunch of reel stuff.....
I like Okuma. The VSystem is comparible to that of the Stradic, and similar. http://www.tackletour.com/reviewokumavs20.html Pflueger, BPS, Abu and Daiwa make nice $50-$100 spinning reels. I feel Okuma makes better reels above the $100 range, but that's just me. I've fished the Pflueger's, and Abu's and feel they are similar, but the Pflueger being a little lighter. Another SOLID contender is Tica reels. They used to make parts for Shimano back in the day, so they know how to make parts. I like their reels as well. If you're happy with what you have, stay with Okuma, unless otherwise.

How Subjective is Sensitivity?
Thank GOD, I am one of them. I can tell the difference between a $50 rod, but I can't really tell the difference between a $300 rod, and one at half the cost. I won't lie, I didn't catch anything on it, I was just able to throw a GLX for about 30 minutes. Only thing that was different was: 1) slightly lighter than my previous rods, but with the upcoming purchase of a Kistler, the GLX is around the same weight as the Kistler. 2) Had "G Loomis GLX" written on it. I've fished GL3's and IMX's, and felt they're great rods, only if they were $50 cheaper. Slightly overpriced, unless you buy used. I'd pay $100-$120 for a GL3, and $180-$200 for an IMX. But, with Loomis, you also pay for the name.
