  1. Let me just start off saying where I live we don't really have "tackle shops", we have Academy and Gander Mtn. I think they are great too but, When I went fishing this past Monday we stopped in Jasper Tx at 2 tackle shops. Needmore tackle and Anne's Tackle shop. It was like I was a kid again. They had everything i could dream of. They did not have golf clubs, shoes, camping equipment, plastic swimming pools, propane exchanges, or baseball gloves. It was nothing but Fishing lures, rods, lines and big ol sow belly bass on the wall. I thought I was in heaven. You can always find some good stuff in the old tackle shops that Academy and Gander do not have and will not order for you. It was just a good day for me, It made me feel better for the horrible, wind blown, catch only 2 fish in 6 hours day on the lake I just had. Just though I would share my thoughts. :
  2. They make a new swimbait too. I just saw them the other day and they are beautiful. I don't know about the action though. H2O makes some pretty baits, the deep cranks don't go as deep as i like but the topwaters, shallow cranks, jerk shads are great. But those new swimbaits look wonderful.
  3. BASS PRO 12" squirmin super worm. They are awesome!!!!!!
  4. I take every single lure that I own
  5. It is pretty hard to mess up a retrieve of a tx rig. When I was a little boy learning how to fish this rig my dad told me to let it sink, hold the rod tip up and crank 5 times. stop for 10 seconds and cranks 5 more times. That way even caught fish for me when i was 3 or 4. Now what i do is not like that at all, but IMO it's a good starting point.
  6. zoom spinnerbait trailer. just the trailer. if you have an ultralight that would be even better. I watched a buddy do this. I threw everything I had. He took a trailer the long split tail one by zoom, put it on his baitcater, just trailer and hook and kind of fly fished it in there. he popped it off of the water three times before the let it sink and when it sank, the fish took it.
  7. I'll give it a shot with a wat/red Yum 10" big show paddle tail worm 8-)
  8. If your worried about it standing look into chompers jig heads. they look like a cinder block, but they stand em up. Regardless, you have been told the basics of it. Now go try it.Younever know until you try. good luck
  9. Also it's pretty cool that your doing this, My wife won't even go with me to a sporting goods store. She would rather sit in the car or not go at all. ;D
  10. Get a ultralight rod and reels with 6lb line and use it for both. One of my biggest bass ever came off of a UL with 4lb line and a beetlespin. It was 6lbs.
  11. Dinks?? That was nice of CJ to let you hold his fish. LOL... I was going to say the same. The problem with the West coast is the majority of members are east coast. The biggest set back is finding places for 50+ boat hook-ups with rooms and accommodations for fisherman and speaking venue. Bass Buster Inn jasper,tx
  12. For me it's not the hook that gets hung up, it's the eye where you tie the line. That's another reason I'm not a big fan of jigs. to much grass and stumps in the lakes and ponds I fish around here.
  13. I thought the same thing about the ppe and msds, but I think this thing just gets blown out of proportion. I'm still not buying any though. the stuff i use works just fine.
  14. If anything I figured the mayflies would get the fish fired up and bite more. If they are falling into the water a pop r or teeny torpedo would have been my cure for lock jaw.
  15. Can not answer on the spinning.I fish 12 rods, so I'm not going to answer them all. Now remember this is all personal preference. I personally do not have a rod that is shorter than 7'. from med to hvy. Swimbaits I do not have a set rod for my Huddlestons so when i do use them, I use my jigging rod. 7'6"hvy/fast.Crankbait is a 7' 2"medhvy fast.Topwater is a 7' med/mod fast. My flippin/pitchin is stated above but i also flip and pitch my worm rods when needed.multiple 7'med hvy fast and multiple 7'med hvy mod fast.
  16. Middle? Sounds conveniently located in your back yard.... well yeah, but i was speaking about the east and west coasters. Tx in the middle. ;D
  17. Is the toro made in sweden? I don't think my sx is. All of my c3 and c4's are. Anyway they are good reels.
  18. Meet in the middle, EAST TEXAS. Sam Rayburn,Toledo Bend,Lake Fork,Caddo Lake.
  19. I don't know how the lakes are there, but i did some shakey head fishing yesterday, and i don't care for it all that much. But the ONLY reason is because all of the places i fish have so much grass. Don't get me wrong they work great and I catch fish on them. fish them just how you described. let it sit semi slack in the line and shake it ( I do 15-20 shakes). But IMO it sucks in grass.I just don't like the exposed eye on the jighead. I bet it's killer in sandy or rock beds. I use zoom trick worms, gene larew salt craws, lizards, gambler sweebo worms.
  20. that does NOT look fun!!
  21. Me and the bait monkey have a date on FRIDAY.
  22. Not to sound stupid , but what's a delos?
