I've never had concerns about birdnest's using spinning gear only had that problem with bait casting gear? I would suggest to go with at least a medium rod instead of a med light since you will use it to fish for bass. A lot of people won't use anything but a med-heavy spinning rod .

WHAT? please explain what you mean. The above metioned statement refers to the rods maybe warping after leaning them in the corner for a period of time and possibly laying them horizontally for a period of time. I use a vertical rack and take my reels off the rods. Some knowledgable people recomend hanging your rods from a plastic covered hook from the ceiling and eliminating all stress from the rods. A lot of you will not agree with these statements but that is your business and we are all entitled to do things our own way and give opinions when asked.

What ever you do , don't store them horizontally or with the reels still on them or stand them up in the corner.

Since money is an issue. spend 80.00 and have a good reel that will last many years if you take care of it or spend 160.00 and have a great reel that will last you many years if properly serviced. Value is in the eye of the beholder.

Thanks. I was just looking at a couple travel kits like that and they come in their own case. That's what I'm leaning toward now. I really believe you will get better service with the travel kits .

TELESCOPING RODS ARE A WASTE OF MONEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Look for a travel rod kit in its own case , the rods are usually in 3 or 4 pieces plus reel.
