  1. 30# Stren Sonic Braid maybe with a flouro leader depending on clarity.
  2. My favorites are a Rebel Pop-R, silver with a black back, and Im starting to like Zoom Horny Toads in open water i find they work better than buzzbaits alot of the time. Fish early morning, late evening, and if its cloudy in the middle of the day.
  3. I feel your pain all the lakes I fish have plenty of Gar in them. Really the only thing you can do is go elsewhere, or dont use live bait just like the other guy said. Sometimes it helps to weight the shiner and fish it down deeper because the Gar stay near the surface most of the time.
  4. When you get the hit on the frog reel until you feel the fish and then set the hook. If you jerk the rod and set the hook as soon as the fish hits most of the time you'll miss him. You have to wait for the fish to take it under and close his mouth. And also if the bait is really far away when he hits it helps to use a sweep set, you can get alot more line back that way.
  5. Like the other guys said the line depends on the clarity of the water. I dont fish alot of clear water so i always use braid for flipping. I use Stren Sonic Braid, and their Super Braid is good too but its hard to find since they stopped making it.
  6. Either the GMAN Gerald Swindle or Edwin Evers. But i am a big Hank Parker fan, but he dosent fish on the pro tour. I dont really have a least favorite.
  7. 8lb. Mudfish (bowfin), at a lake here in Ft. Pierce. 15 Lb. Aligator Gar in the North Fork of the St. Lucie River, And my PB 7lb. Largemouth, in another lake here.
  8. I have alot of luck in the canals around my town with Rat l traps and spinnerbaits, not much luck with plastics or jigs though.
  9. Ive caught tons of cats and carp on soft plastics, ive also caught tilapia on spinnerbaits. But the best catch on artificials was a 8lb. mudfish(Bowfin) on a Yum Crawbug, and 2 gar over 10lbs. one on a rattle trap and the other on a brushog.
  10. Hey Denea, If you want to catch a gar you should come to were im at, we got more than i can deal with. The other day i was bass fishing and a 15 lb. alligator gar bit my brush hog, when i set the hook it felt like i set it into a dock. I found out it wasn't a dock when he started stripping line on 14lbs. of drag from my JM sig. series. He then proceded to drive my jon boat down the river. But I eventually got him to the boat.
  11. I was wondering if anybody has ever fished any of the following lakes in the Orlando area, and if so what were the results. Lake Copeland, Catherine, Rose, Underhill, Gatlin, or Porter. Thanks for any feedback.
  12. BOOYAH Boo jig 1/4, 1/2/ or 3/4 oz. in black/blue or watermelon. I mostly use Zoom super chunk trailer in matching color but occasionally I will use a paca craw.
  13. Mainly the Big South Fork River which is part of the cumberland river. Its a free flowing river.
  14. I use a palomar most of the time, but sometimes i'll tie a trilene or an improved clinch with two wraps around the hook eye. (The Trilene or improved clinch ONLY with mono or flouro never with braid.)
  15. Iv'e fished for largemouth all of my life so im new to smallmouth fishing. Does anybody have any tips for river smallmouth, mainly in Tennessee.
  16. Most of the time I use a Booyah Boo jig, 1/2 oz., Black/Blue, with a Zoom Black/Blue Super chunk trailer
  17. I read an article in bassmaster mag a couple month ago that stated that the triumphs were made in Mexico, and the rest of the St. Croix line are made in the USA.
  18. When you tie the Palomar make sure you dont cinch the overhand knot before you put the hook through the loop. A buddy of mine used to do this and it will sometimes make your knot slip.
  19. Hey guys, I live in south florida but im going on a float trip down the Big south fork river in June. I did the same trip last summer and caught decent number of fish using small Yum crawbugs and some worms. I was just wondering if anyone had any suggestions on what lures, plastics, jigs, colors and what not, to help us catch a better number of fish. Thanks for any tips.
  20. 6 inch Zoom U-tail worm in Red Shad, or 6 inch Zoom lizard in Watermelon, Red flake.
  21. Im a big pflueger guy so i'll have to say the supreme. My buddy has one and Iv'e used a couple of times its very light and very smooth. I also have a couple of Presidents and there awesome.
  22. I live in st. lucie county and have a couple of spots I fish, all I have is a john boat so I cant really go on anything bigger than a couple hundred acres. Is there any spots anybody is willing to share in the St. lucie/Indian River/Martin county area. Anything from 5-200 or so acres. Thanks.
  23. I dont know how to use links or anything like that so this is what i got. Go to google search and type in "bassin the orlando lakes" its an article on finefishing.com i read about it in an old issue of bassmaster mag. They give you lists of lakes and from 5 acres to 2000 acres all in the orlando-orange county area. Its a very helpful article.
  24. I agree i'm also a pflueger user I love my presidents and trions. My buddy has a supreme and iv'e used it a couple of times and it was very nice.
