  1. Im looking for a rod around 7' MH or H for mainly carolina rigging. I was thinking about the mojo or HMG any thoughts. Or if you have a better suggestion between 100.00 and 150.00 go ahead. thanks
  2. I would recommend the St. Croix mojo series and you can get one for around $100.00. 7' M. action
  3. I own a 6' med. hvy. GL2 that ive had for about 6 months. I use mine mainly for casting jigs and soft plastics. I think its a very good rod it's preformed well for me, its very light and sensitive.
  4. I would use 20# Sonic braid for skipping, and I would recommend the Pflueger Trion, or the Pflueger President.
  5. You have much more sensitivity with braid than you do with mono as well as zero stretch. I personally use braid with all my jigs , with the exeption of clear water then I will throw them on flurocarbon. So I would recomend braid, preferably Stren Sonic braid.
  6. I fish a couple of deep, clear lakes here in florida, that used to be phosphorous mining pits. There about 75 acres, and range from 8 to 40 ft. of water. There is also an abundance of hydrilla and other grasses. Any tips on what to use. Thanks
  7. If you look at my name of course im going to recomend stren original its the best mono ive ever used. I dont know how people can recomend berkley big game its the worst line ive ever used, it has more memory than an IBM. I might have gotten a bad batch of line i not sure.
  8. I just strip all the line off by hand. Tie an Arbor knot to the spool and reel the line onto the spool, while keeping alot of tension on the line.
  9. Thanks, I appreciate your help.
  10. Yea were taking two canoes 28 miles from Ken. to Tenn.. We floated the same stretch of river last year and we were using Small worms, yum crawbugs, and plastic helgrammites. We were catching decent number odf smallmouth, redeye and Kentucky bass. But ive been told we shold have been catching more numbers of fish. What kind of jigs and what colors.
  11. It depends where youre fishing. If your fishing alot of grass and ripping it through the grass. Braids no stretch is an advantadge when pulling it through the heavy grass. I would suggest using braid for grass and staying with mono if your fishing relatively open water. I would also suggest using a rod with a lighter action.
  12. Johnny Morris Signature Series reel from BPS is very nice I have had no problems with mine. I have never used the Curado so I cant say anything about it.
  13. I live in florida naturally I fish for largemouth, but im going on a fishing trip on the big southfork river in tenn. Does anybody have any tips on what to use for the smallmouth. Lures, plastics, jigs what have you. This is in june.
  14. I own a Trion and a President and they are both great reels. I would suggest the President Its an excelentreel for the price. I have had more expensive reels that didnt preform as well.
  15. Can anybody recommend a good Pitchin'/Flipin' Stick for around 200.00$
