  1. Wait around, it's coming to YOUR state too!
  2. Presidents, very nice reels & worth the money. Abu Cardinals (500/600 series), definitely worth the $$$ & overbuilt. Of course you have Shimano & Daiwa. Now, that said, I have fished the crap out of a Sedona over the past two weeks, and it only seems to get smoother. Why? Don't know, but it seems to be improving. It's a cheap reel, but others have said well worth the money. I'm not pushing it, it was a gift, but it is getting better, hmmmm. Go to a well stocked shop & play. You'll find it. ;D
  3. Happy Birthday............................ geezer!
  4. RoLo said: x2. Two BC's for topwaters only. Everything else: Spinning.
  5. I would think you could unwind it, but maybe, if it's jammed enough, then that's the answer. :-?
  6. Raul! Man, you are simply nasty. Ok, here's what you do. Get a hammer and a small chisel and......... :) :D :D :D Seriously, you can't unwind the line from around the drag? How much line do you think is wrapped around it? You should be able to pull the line free with a little work.
  7. You know, I just thought of a great Ike joke... I'm going out to the Desoto (maybe it's in the edsel) and get it and I'll be back later.....
  8. No, I'm not forgetting stuff at all. President Reagan is doing a fine job and my new '88 BMW is running just fine. Looking to buy one of those new fangled shimano fishing reels once I find one.......... Man, I'll tell ya, this Madonna girl is crazy!
  9. If it's me and my $$$ AND I must have shimano, then I would go with the Sahara. The Symetre is nice, but I picked up one that was rough, no big deal, it happens, but also didn't find the improvements to be that big a deal. Recently got a Sedona, eh, its ok, nothing special. The Sahara, for a shimano, would probably be your best bet.
  10. JF, what is a rod's max rating? Max rating of what? :-?
  11. Excellent topic - glad it's been brought up again. I have spinning reels with Yozuri Hybrid 6lb on them. According to RW, his research says the 6lb test has an actual breaking strength of 11.8lb. So, where do I set my drag? :-?
  12. Muddy, you left a few out: Freddie King John Mayall & the Bluesbreakers BB King T-Bone Walker Mike Bloomfield Big Bill Broonzy Just to fill it out.
  13. Aye, Root Beer, thar's the rub! Yes, I agree Economics are actually comprised of many 'gray' areas. "economic is gray area test. Many professor will let you argue and if they think you got valid point they curve it" yes they will. And it still isn't right, because absolutes in economics do exist. Still, the validity of your answer means you climb the curve. "For instance, if question ask what does government do to inflate price of farming goods? A) Buy surplus Acres Set-Aside program C) Some B.S. choice D) Some B.s. choice" Ahhh, well yes. And no. If government decides on a 'production-reduction' where set-asides can be used as a measure of reduction of specific farm/food commodity, then that too inflates prices. All part of the 'gray' curve.
  14. The Pflueger Criterion is not worth the effort to walk it out to your garbage can. Keep looking.
  15. I've handled it in stores, but at 12.5oz, I'd never own it. It is a beaut, and feels smooth. That said, I can't help but think (if it's not already been done), you probably would find your Calcutta equally as smooth if you get it properly serviced (Reel Mech can do wonders) and save $$$ in the long run.
  16. Thanks guys - It seems about as smooth as anything else I have. Going to slap it on a 6'6" M bionic blade and we'll try it out this weekend.
  17. Have an aunt in KY who knows I love to fish. Apparently, she felt obligated to send me a late BD gift (which she wasn't, God bless her), but did so anyway. In any event, I get a package with a Shimano Sedona 2500 in the mail. Seriously, I know nothing about this reel. I'm not the 'reel snob' and just buy what I know I like. Still, nice gift. Is it really a decent reel? Should I just relegate it to use by the wife or son? Oh, it came in a Shimano box, but no oil with this reel, normal? Going fishing Saturday, hurrah!
  18. Hope you recup fast, Shaun & like Muddy said hang in there.
  19. Whoa, sorry guys, I wouldn't give a dime for nearly anything made by Dewalt. Dewalt USE to be great, prior to the hookup with B&D. Had numerous Dewalt tools fail. Makita, Milwaukee, Porter-Cable (USA-made) and some Hitachi, that is all I will buy now.
  20. I completely agree with Muddy - use it, use it a lot, then tell us about it. I still have several BPS rods, love them. If I could get the same feel out of an ugly stick, I'd buy it. Don't care much about names/labels. Love some of the new shimano/daiwa stuff, but more $$ than I can afford & if I had the money, don't know I would buy it. What I have works for me, that is all that matters. To me.
  21. Doggone, RW, ya just got a new Stella! Course, you can send me the old one. No, just kidding. No I'm not. Let us know how the new Stella handles.
  22. But is interesting nonetheless, http://fish.shimano.com/publish/content/global_fish/en/us/index/products/reels/spinning/Stradic_MgFB.html Not turning into a 'she-man-o' junkie, but a 2500 at 7oz? Rather attractive too.
  23. Virtually mem settings can be easily tuned, as long as you know what you're doing. My main box has 8gb ram/2TB of disk space, so I rarely run out of room for anything, but here are some issues to consider: 1. Some Windows applications require access to a paging file so they can operate properly, and will crash if you try to run them with the paging file disabled. check it. 2. When Vista creates a paging file, it normally creates one that's twice the size of physical memory, sometimes more than that (actual values depend on free space available on the target drive(s) at the time the page file is situated). Microsoft recommends no less than the amount of physical memory plus 300 MB for the minimum value, and sets the maximum at three times the amount of RAM installed in a PC. Conventional wisdom is that the defaults are fine, particularly on drives that have sufficient free space to allocate three times RAM to the paging file as an ultimate high-water mark. Keep this in mind when considering ram to vm relationship. 3.Windows itself prefers to have access to a paging file, if only to help it manage the process of loading and unloading applications scheduled for execution (on the way in with Win7) or for termination or swap-out (this is going away). And yes, never hurts to merely restart periodically, and clean out the cache/temp files.
  24. Agree with LBH. Seems to me (maybe just me) gammy's have gotten a little thinner/weaker over the past few years. Owners are ridiculously sharp & hold the point longer.
  25. Same, 3700 boxes labeled with type & depth. Don't have that many (maybe 80), but easy to find what I'm looking for when I want it.
