  1. hey Kent, obviously I'm not a mod, but isn't this time for Goodnight Irene? Getting ridiculous here........... :-[
  2. Actually, I must be the sick one. While both the Camaro & Lambo are nice to look at, I wouldn't have either. Cars, to me, are a ridiculous expense for the enjoyment factor involved. Just don't love them anymore. For those that do, fantastic. Yep, owned a few (52) in 38 years.
  3. Shimano makes some great stuff. Are they really better than Abu/Daiwa/Pflueger? In my opinion, no. All of them are making some fine gear and it's a matter of research. As good as Shimano is, along with their customer service, they don't have a lock on quality. Everybody in this business knows their competition and are working hard to keep up.
  4. You need this. Yep. http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/dailydish/2009/05/techcrunch.html
  5. Yep, got an older 1500, like it a lot, very smooth. Bought a new 2500 last week, returned it, didn't like it. If yours is smooth, fantastic, you'll love it.
  6. Spray paint. Green. Works.
  7. Burley wasting $$$ on a stinkin' lawn when you COULD be buying more fishing gear........................... oh, wait. Hey, buy a goat.
  8. Heard it before, saw it coming, and yet, it was funny coming from you.
  9. No, you simply need a bag of flour and you............ never mind. d**n, I'm missing a buttonhole in my shirt.............
  10. No, I'm actually the opposite. Like SirSnook and others, I buy moderate gear. Recently bought two reels, returned one, and I'm very careful on picking out my lures & all of my tackle. I, personally, don't wish to waste money on buying stuff I won't use or don't like. Now, my OHP, nothing more, tackle junkies are like those who can't own too much camera gear, car stuff or you name it. OCD. To me, (and me only), it appears to be looking for a way to waste money. IF that is what you want to do, God Bless ya, no problem on my end. Do you need to do that to feed a hobby? Far from it, and really just the opposite.
  11. x2. Didn't realize how sweet a reel could be until I started playing with the C3.
  12. Roadwarrior started talking about Yozuri Hybrid a couple of years ago, I think. Tried it & like it a lot. The Symetre? I don't think its anything ReelMech can't fix, could return it but other than the fact it is stiff, not as smooth for some reason with the handle on the right hand side, it seems good. Not sure, I'll wait for a reply from Bantam. Like the color of it, but then again the fish don't care what color it is................ ;D
  13. I like 'em. Just something classic about them....there again, I'm a geezer.
  14. Truthfully, and ONLY my opinion, everything we buy is overpriced crap. From the cars, to the crappy built homes, to the cheapa$$ clothes, and yes, the fishing stuff too. To me, nothing is worth what we pay for it.
  15. That Zillion is super-sweet at 4.9:1. What is your budget? Zillion at $270 (all can be found cheaper), Calcutta 200GT at $350. Just picked up a C3 (5.3:1) for $70 new that I will use for cranking. Look around, check them all out, check out the wallet & GO! ;D
  16. I'm just venting, but bought a new Symetre 2500FJ today on a good deal, and also picked up a new C3 4600, which is a reel I never previously owned but always wanted to own. The Symetre has an issue, that may be fixed (I hope so, because otherwise I kind of like the feel of it), but the C3 is silky-smooth perfect. So nice for a round reel. NOT ripping Shimano here, because basically I think most manufacturers make fine reels and everyone can/does make a lemon now & then, and I don't even know if that is yet the case, but maybe that's the bucket of luck I have. Going to spool the C3 with Yozuri Hybrid and try it out Thursday.
  17. so I've narrowed down to: Abu Record 40/50 Shimano Citica E BPS Pro Qualifier 6.4 Has any played with all three? Fished all 3? Thoughts? I'm looking at this as a long term relationship, so any help is appreciated. (RW- no need to respond, I know your answer) Thanks
  18. Uh, it's called..... MAINTENANCE! Try it, it works.
  19. Please, get down to the Red House.... http://www.inquisitr.com/22921/bizarre-tv-commercial-uses-race-to-sell-furniture/ Just got some new orange crates, otherwise..........
  20. Wrote a fast app that called the .dll that reboots windows. Installed it as the initial startup app on a buddy's PC. He'd boot, it would reboot. Called network services, they couldn't figure it out. I laughed long time.
  21. So funny to have a post deleted because you offer an opinion.... I don't agree. I think Shimano makes some fine reels, as does many other manufacturers, and I believe you buy what feels best in your hands and what works on the water. For those who feel XXX is best, get a life, look at other gear and make a personal decision. This is getting ridiculous. Glenn, thoughts?
  22. Absolutely! That is a MUST. Free AVG: http://free.avg.com/download Free Avast: http://www.avast.com/eng/download-avast-home.html
  23. Kent, it sounded more like an opinion - I didn't see that as bashing. We know you love shimano & you're a good guy, but cut some slack here.
  24. I trust the clippers ARE registered and you have a license to carry them? ;D
  25. Chris, I thought I was the only one that beat the crap out of spinning gear and still expected it all to work perfectly. I hope the okuma situation works out, and FWIW, I have a 'dicks special' stratus, which according to okuma is an SGT20 spinner. I like it, 4 years old, still smooth, easy (relatively speaking) to work on. That said, I have a Trion GX7, which isn't bad considering price, a Symetre 1500 which I like a lot, and a Cardinal 502 albi which I think is the best deal out there. I'm positive you get to fish more than me, so I wouldn't know what to recommend for super heavy duty usage, other than the Abu or look at the Shimano stuff. I haven't had an opportunity to use any Daiwa spinning gear, so I'm no help there. Let us know what you do.
