  1. Only MO, but have never been impressed with either one.
  2. For under $80, you are a little limited, unless you look at ebay or used. The new Sahara is nice, much like the last version of the Symetre. The new Symetre is ok, but to me, not worth the cost increase for the features it has. Abu G Cardinal 501/502 series is a bargain for the price. The President or Daiwa Exceler may be any option. In your shoes, I'm going to handle them in a store & make a decision.
  3. Decisions, decisions. I just assumed you did both.
  4. What a great topic. No, not really. I had a buddy who shared apt. in college. He had a habit (when drunk) of lighting his farts. For craps & giggles one Friday night, we had both had about a case of beer, and he was lighting up. When he closed his eyes, and was ready to light the bomb, I sprayed some hair spray on his jewels. Once he jumped into (and out of) the shower, he was hairless. I did the proper thing though, I apologized, and then drank the rest of his beer. That said, being a pyro was fun........... I'LL COOK YA!
  5. Looks like everyone ('cept Cart7 & the dink) had a great time! Just kiddin' cart........... Can't wait to see the video.

  7. Fish Chris quotes: Chris, I would give my left nut, marinaded in formaldehyde, on a cherrywood display base of your choosing for a 14 foot aluminum boat. Sounds like you have exactly what you need. The guys spending 40K+ on boats (unless rich) are nuts.
  8. Nice fish, Burley (.....probably plastic) ;D
  9. ^ Still lives in Kalifornia - "I'll be back" Auuunold.
  10. newfish, what Reelmech says is true - IF you feel comfortable in breaking down a reel, then fine & go for it. Great to learn. If not, send it to RM for servicing. Reelmech will make it better than new.
  11. Chris, I don't know what 'sight fishing' would have to do with how your friend approaches the concept of fishing other than his issues with his eyesight, but his methods work for HIM, possibly not for anyone else. No problem there. I don't fish swimbaits, nor buy them, too expensive and I personally don't wish to throw something that large. I don't feel as if I'm losing out on anything. My concept is I go fishing & hope to catch fish using the techniques I've learned, taught myself, and with the tools I have at my disposal. If I score, wonderful, if not, so be it, I learn from the experience. Fishing to me is both a challenge and relaxation. I'm there on the bank (no boat) because I want to be, and I hope to hunt my next PB, but even if I walk with nothing, I have no problem because I will examine what I've done right and wrong. Hope this makes some sense.
  12. Oh, what the heck, my list, in order of preference: Abu Garcia Cardinal 502/503 ALBI Shimano Sahara 2500 Daiwa Exceler 2500 And there you go.
  13. No, JF, that's probably true. Sold all my medium format/Hassey gear when you could still get a buck out it. Same with the Nikon & Canon outfits I had. Like those L lenses, do ya? Good stuff.
  14. x1000. Had a pelican save about 14K in Hasselblad gear that went into the drink many years ago.
  15. I agree with Sam - get the degree (transfer if you have to), but get h*ll out of Michigan. The big(?) 3 will somehow survive, Ford probably doing the best. GM & Chrysler possibly filing Chptr 11 is NOT that big of deal, other companies have done it (Delta) and came back to do well. The UAW is going to have to make some additional and severe concessions if it expects it's members to have jobs. They are part & parcel to the problem as is poor management.
  16. Good advice from JF. Might also try Avast. Low overhead, good engine and decent UI. Use this on my only internet-active box. As long as one stays away from Norton/MacAfee, you'll be good to go.
  17. Quotes: I love this. Macs are EVERY bit as vulnerable. The Mac OSx is equally as susceptible to not only this worm, but numerous other viruses, yet Mac users don't seem to think so. The three whose Mac's I cleaned do now, though.
  18. foie gras? Goose guts. Seriously, it's duck or goose liver that's been fattened. Can be quite good IF done right. And, on a serious note, Paris, among other spots in France can be very enjoyable. I think you'll have a great time. P.S. Yes, take extra razors, every women needs to be shaved..........
  19. Well, played with a few of them. Didn't find them to feel more sensitive than others, didn't like the guides at all, and yes, really, really ugly. If someone likes them, great, I see them as a $75 rod at best. 8-)
  20. Two tips: 1. Load up on stinky cheese. 2. Pack up extra surrender hankies to sell in Paris - You'll make a killing.
  21. Are the prices reasonable. Well, can you work on it yourself? Let's examine the issues: Wiper Blades $75.: You can buy them & install them yourself. Great ones will run $18 per pair. Brake Job $599: Can you find someone to turn rotors? Are you able to examine the mechanics of the brake system? Can you install pads? If this price includes new rotors, probably not bad, but I don't know for sure. 60K service $600.: What do they do for the 60K service? Can you do any of it yourself. I've worked on my own vehicles for 37 years, which in effect, means nothing, but I've kept them well maintained and running at all times. My current Toyo Tacoma ('99) is coming up close to 300K. I plan to get 500-750K out of her before her demise becomes imminent. Still runs like new. It is very dependent on what YOU can & can't do on your vehicle. If you don't know how to work on it, you are at the mercy of someone who does. IF you know what is wrong, you are at a better level & can evaluate if the work is required, or if you may want to attempt it yourself.
  22. Okay, I'll disagree. It's ugly, and I'll take an Avid over it, for that matter, a Premier. Just me though........
  23. Seriously, you may have some issues, I know If I were you I would get myself checked out ASAP. It is not an issue of getting old, it is an issue of forgetting what you are doing, and I've seen this before. Everyone knows once a stop sign turns green, you go, no problem. Please, call your doctor before it's too late. And don't run anymore red stop signs.
  24. ^ A really nice guy(that's what his wife said to say), with a great product, generous to the anglers, yet who still lives in TEXAS! Go figure.........
