  1. I have never had a line break using PP. I use 40lb on my flipping setup and 30lb on my frog setup. Only reason I use 30 on my frog rod is for easier casting. Sounds like a knot problem. Do you use a palomar knot? That's what I use and have never had an issue. Only problem I have had is a couple of days ago, I was not prepared with a frog setup and was throwing a rage toad on 12lb Flouroclear. I broke of on the hook set on a huge schooling fish. Not sure if the knot broke or just huge fish. I know it was big tho... Solid 10lb+ fish.
  2. Not fishing the river, rather Lake Santa Fe and surrounding water.
  3. Ive never been a frog guy but after this evening, I am in love with the frog bite. I'm already on it.
  4. Frog bite is on fire here in North Florida! Caught 7 in about 20 min and broke off on a solid 10lb + fish. Was not prepared with a frog setup today and was throwing 12lb P-Line Flouroclear. Definitely need to make a frog only setup.
  5. Lost a Mojo Bass and a Revo STX. I was shuffling for my cranking rod after I spotted a school of huge bass smashing bait on open water. I must have dropped it in the shuffle. Pretty unfortunate.
  6. Doing Santa Fe again tomorrow. Finally found some bass out there. Lovin the Space Monkey on a 3/8. Thinking about throwing a small anaconda on a 3/8 and seeing how that does.
  7. I have been out there but never fished it. I usually go out at Horseshoe Beach or Shired Island. Just north of Cedar Key.
  8. Couple 3 lbers out at Santa Fe today... not saying where. Found 81 degree water rather than the 91 degree water everywhere else. Found some fish there. Summertime sadness. Going to get salty next weekend. Redfish and trout baby. Excited to debut the new Wright and Mcgill Flats Blue rod on a Shimano Stradic 3000.
  9. I lived in Vermont for 2 years. Also hit Lake Arrowhead. Caught some good bass in mid summer and during the spawn, it was ridiculous. Stay by the bridge where the road is and across from that, the weed line. You'll know what I'm talking about. When you put in a boat, go to the right until you find the bridge and road. Careful, it can get pretty shallow as you make your way toward the area. On the opposite direction from that little nook, is a loooong weed line. Bass hang on that. It is a long bar shallow to deep. Caught this first fish below in August right up against a log next to the weed line on a weightless watermelon Zoom Ultra vibe speed worm. I lived ON lake arrowhead while I was there and was out 2-3 days a week. There is ZERO bass fishing pressure out there. Fishing was good while I was there but I am so happy to be back home in Florida! Nothing beats it.
  10. Go Knights! Hopefully getting back to O'town next year and transferring to UCF.
  11. This is what I am talking about. Thing has no ventilation. If it was breathable it would feel great.
  12. So I do some Redfishing as well as Bass and I usually wear a Colombia PFG shirt while I am out. These shirts are supposed to be moisture wicking and keep you cool. Truth is is that they don't breathe so it feels like the heat from my skin is staying trapped in the shirt. I also sweat like crazy in these shirts. My back gets drenched in sweat. Where is the cool on these things? I don't get it. I am more comfortable with a long sleeve cotton shirt. Anybody else feel this way?
  13. Looks like Ocklawaha lake and river is a no go. One fish around 5+ took a bite and spit it. That was my day. I'll keep my typical attitude rolling about fishing in the Gainesville area... garbage! This redfish thing out here in the North West coast is looking better every day I go for bass.
  14. I don't always fish Abu Garcia; but when I do, it's a Revo.
  15. Congrats! I don't have any children yet but I know it must be an unbelievable feeling. Keep that little girl healthy and honest.
  16. This couldn't be more well put. Ive been fishing in Florida for 20+ years. These bass react to the smallest change in anything in their environment. Even food. I have gone out and fought fish after fish while doing surgery on the shoreline cover, go out the next day with the same exact tactic and they are nowhere to be found. They have all left the shore and obviously headed for deeper water. It's crazy. But I will say, on certain places in Orlando, I caught fish every time regardless of conditions. Just made a minor change of lure and presentation. These areas were much different than most bodies though. Small creeks or rivers, loaded with cover, and gently moving current. The bass in there were always on for the most part. Especially when we get rain and the water level raised and moved more quickly through the area.
  17. Seems the rains have kept Florida productive so far this summer. Stay off that foot! Achilles injuries are no joke. I had a buddy who was working to qualify for the PGA tour and blew his tendon. After he heeled, he couldn't play the same way. Gained 7 strokes and couldn't get them off. Went back to school to finish his Bachelors. Anyways, yeah, the fish are still biting.
  18. Watermelon and watermelon red. They work. Shorelines around cover.
  19. It's a bummer isn't it? I gotta get myself a little skiff/bass rig one of these days.
  20. Mosquito Lagoooon! I may love fishing for Reds even more than I do for Bass...
  21. Makin' the fanny pack look good.
  22. I'm going to do a little retention pond fishing this weekend. Hopefully going with a buddy next weekend. I stopped into a local tackle store for the good word out and a certain body of water produced 40+ bass in one day. With all this rain and whatnot, seems us Florida guys are getting a nice summer break right now from the hot and sunny dog days. Not telling. I need all the luck and lack of fishing pressure I can get up here in G'ville. I gotta keep you fools off the water!
  23. Bite has been better up here. Lots of rain. Nothing special but they were definitely nibbling. I might get out with a buddy on Ocklawaha/Rodman in the next few weeks.
  24. Did Mike actually find Bass in Gainesville? Yes! I have indeed finally found some Bass. Local retention pond. Stocked with Bass, baitfish, and turtles that follow you around as you walk the shoreline. Happiest retention pond I have ever seen. Bass were decently healthy and good size. I am curious as to if there are bigger in there. Only thing is that this is a retention fishery so there is as of now, no shoreline cover to throw at other than an overhanging tree which is where I caught all my fish. I'm sure there are small rock piles, drops, points around where they hang deep but I have to find them somehow. It's interesting that the fish all had decent color which means they are either finding cover or down deep most of the time. Anyways... I finally found some local fish. Feels good! Everybody needs that local pond where they can go get a line wet for an hour or two.
  25. My advise is to throw watermelon plastics and have fun!
