  1. T-rig'ed Black Worm Its like holding candy in front of a kid! They just can't resist. I almost feel sorry for the Bass.
  2. I have found a nice honey hole where I am catching 3-4 lb'ders on a regular basis. The location is a waterfall where there is a good supply of small fish for the bass to eat and the water is deeper and the area is shaded. I typically catch a large fish every 20-30 min but I miss 2 or 3 times as many fish by failing to set the hook. I usually just flip/pitch a black plastic worm or dark tube bait into the waterfall with only 8-10 feet of line from my rod tip to the bottom of the waterfall. This morning I caught a 3.5 lb'der that struck so hard he pulled my rod tip under the water. They strike so hard it feels like a hammer hitting my rod. I think my problem of not getting the hook set is caused by holding the rod tip to low and now allowing enough line and distance to properly set the hook. Should I just keep the rod tip higher or will that potentially increase the amount of slack line. I would appreciate any comments or suggestions to help me solve this so I can catch 3 times more fish.
  3. Hey Christopherjake, Whats the issue with the Daiwa Steez warranty? Its a lifetime warranty on the Steez so Im really interested in why you think the loomis warranty is better.
  4. I can tell you from experience, I've caught a 2 - 4 lb'ders on my little 6' steez in the past 2 days and it was plenty bent when I was crankin them in and thanks to the generous number of guides (and quality) the line stayed right on top of the center of the rod. My previous BPS signature series rods were also a great performers but the steez are flawless.
  5. The roadwarrior said it best, better gear just makes the fishing more fun. I can catch the same fish on an $80 BPS brand rod and reel or $800 steez. (I have both) The only difference is the steez is more enjoyable to fish but doesnt really catch anymore fish, however, it does allow me to fish longer.
  6. My 2 reasons are: 1. My Steez rods have a lifetime warranty, if they break Daiwa will be there to replace it. 2. If I buy from a big name dealer (at least the first 1 rod) and I don't like it they will let me return it for a full refund.
  7. I own 2 Steez Rods (just bought the second and got a great deal at 30% off retail). I have only fished with a G-Loomis GLX 1 time but much prefer the Steez. I think it is just as sensitive and you cant beat the lightweight of the Steez. I can fish all day without any wrist or arm fatigue.
  8. My black jitterbug with the orange belly seems to drive the bass crazy at dusk near the shore. They hit it like its their last meal. Almost jerks the rod from my hand. A lot of fun and really raises the excitement level for both me and the fish.
  9. I start cranking the 7:1 reel and make'em waterski till I get'em out of the water.
  10. That was an awesome guide, I will never leave a hook inside a fish again. Thanks!
  11. A couple of time this year I have caught bass and they swollowed the hook so deep that when I set the hook it tore them up inside and when I pulled the fish from the water it was bloody and in some cases I have had to cut the fish to remove the lure. If it was just a single hook I would just cut the line at the eye of the hook and release the fish. What am I doing wrong and how can I prevent this from happening and what is the best practice for this situation? I dont ever want to kill the fish if I can prevent it. Also, what happens in tournaments when this happens, is the angler not allowed to turn in the fish since it will most likely be dead? Just trying to learn from the experienced fishermen.
