G-loomis
Com'on RW, I agree the $100 diff is substantial but the difference in feel between the IMX and GLX is a little more than "subtle". :-/

HELP
Well...that's noble and all, but that much schooling is not for everyone. If you head that way -great! But, that much schooling will likely keep you off the bass waters. I went to school with fisheries in my sites -and was the period in my life I fished least. School is a no-brainer -you do it. It'll likely be the best route for your future, and give you the time and money to fish. That said, you're young, now's the time to dabble in dreams. Here's my advice: Fish -a lot. The school part is not a no-brainer, kids today (including my 15 yr old son) seem to think that there is a short cut to everything. I guess that's from us spoiling them and making it look so easy. Like I tell my son all the time, there is NO easy way and NO substitute for good grades and hard work. If you learn to stay focused and apply yourself to whatever you want to become, it will happen but it will not be easy. If everything was easy we would all be rich!

First Assessment of Mag-Touch Casting Rod
negative......... seriously...and doesn't your steez have foam? Yes it does, and owning a steez combo is a status symbol. Every time I pick it up I have an audience. Now for the six pin thing, I still have a few six pin reels that work great once you dial them in. My problem is that I don't have time to dial them in anymore, nothing against them its just that my fishing time is more important than breaking in a reel. Since I own 2 steez reels and rods do I have a special status symbol? JK, I much prefer the foam grip on my steez compared to the grandpa cork grip on my Loomis GLX's. IMHO, the GLX is a better rod but someone at Loomis needs to wake up, pull their head out of somewhere and put a modern grip on that awesome rod. I guarantee they would sell more rods if they updated that grip! BTW, Ive never touched a "Mag-Touch" rod but the handle/grip design looks interesting.

Bigger Bait, Bigger Fish
I agree wholeheartedly with this statement! As a specific example, switching from 5" Senkos to the 6" version has resulted in a dramatic improvement in the "average" size fish. I don't want numbers, so this has worked out very well for me! 8-) I knew I should have bought 6" instead of 5" ! I would have caught a 7# instead of a 4#.

Thinkin', learnin', catchin'.
I always think Im going to catch fish. A positive attitude is always a plus but even if I don't catch a fish I try to improve my technique and become more patient. I know for sure that the slower I fish the more I catch. I fish with several young guys and they fish like the world is on fire, changing lures and switching rods like crazy. I keep telling them (as I catch fish in front of them) they just need to concentrate more on fishing and the more time they have a hook in the water the greater chance of catching a fish. As for the accidental catch, I have caught 2 nice size bass this year while clearing up a backlash or untangling a line.

Bigger Bait, Bigger Fish
Ain't that the truth, last week they were killing the spinnerbait but the past 2-3 days you couldn't catch one on a spinner if your life depended on it. I watch a bass swim right past a spinner this morning and never even thought about hitting it. Who knows what they will want this evening or tomorrow or next week!

Bigger Bait, Bigger Fish
Yea Rhino, Ive pretty much been through the entire tacklebox this season and have caught'em on everything. The basic fishing rules always apply. First you gotta find the fish and second you gotta give what they want to eat or bite. Sure nice catching some decent size ones that quick with such a simple change.

Bigger Bait, Bigger Fish
Im often told to fish bigger bait and I will catch bigger fish but never really believed it until the past couple of days. As the bite has slowed some this summer, yesterday I started throwing a large black senko into some grass and weed shallow areas with 12" or less of water depth. I usually use a zoom fenesse worm and catch 1-2 lb'ders but figured I would try a larger bait. The results were awesome! Yesterday I caught a 4 lb'der on the first cast and this morning I caught another nice one on the first cast as well as several others. Hence, bigger bait, bigger fish!

Powell Max or G-Blanks
Well Larry Mitchell at G-Blanks told me, " you will like our rod with the Shikari (or Rainshadow) even better than your Steez or GLX rods". So I decided to throw $150 at G-Blanks just to find out first hand for myself if there rods were up to snuff. Won't be the first $150 Ive ever thrown away. Don't worry, if it ain't as great as they claim I will will trash it and let everyone know how bad it feels. If I don't love it then it will be posted forsale for the price I paid plus shipping. BTW, I just bought another GLX on ebay for $245 (along with another core 50 for $325) and I'll keep buying GLX's until someone produces something better.

Gunk
I fish a pond with that muck on the top a lot and while its a pain to have to clean the lure so much but I catch a lot of fish. The big ones love to hide under that slop sitting on top of the water. As you have probably discovered, the bigger fish are in the worst of the muck and thats why they are so big! They just lay under there and eat themselves into oblivion. This morning I had a big one jump almost completely out of the water trying to grab a buzzbait that I was throwing along the edge of the muck, had to clean my lure after almost every cast. I just kept throwing closer and closer and eventually he took it and by the time I got the bass out of the water it was covered in gunk but worth all the effort. Nice 4#'der.

Line jammed under reel handle.
Raul, you are so bad! ;D

too shallow?
IMHO, You are missing some of the best bass fishing. When I am shore fishing most of my bass, even the big ones, come from ~12" of water with plenty of cover. Please throw a frog, top water, spinner or jig into or along the edge of that cover, NOW! You will be shocked at what you pull out of that mess. Just make sure you have a good rod and use strong line cause the big ones in there are not going to come out easy. I get chills down my spine just thinking about fishing in a place like that!

postings disappear ?
OK, no problem, just mainly wanted to make sure I had not messed up or violated any policy. I manage very large technology data centers so I know about technical mishaps!

postings disappear ?
like i said, i was really strange that not only my post but also glenns response disappeared. the post was really positive, I thanked glenn for his great video and how much it helped me. no nod has responded so far, "except to move this topic", so I guess we will never know.

postings disappear ?
Some of my posting have disappeared. The posting I made regarding "New Video! Spinnerbaits" disappeared as well as Glenns response. Was there a tech glitch on the forum server?
