  1. Oh, is safety an issue? I thought they were just having fun. .... Seriously, they are all going to die....fools! Only thing missing is a beer in each of their hands.
  2. Is that a photo from the last bass resource roadtrip ? Could that be RW in the bow seat? JK RW. 8-) 8-) 8-)
  3. OK, Line Expert, What line should I use? If you're going to knock 2 of the most popular lines in use, then be prepared to offer an alternative. This is just like the post you made where you knocked the dual braking system in use on BPS reels but you never stated why it was bad or offered any other choice. Your comments have no merit and even if they are just your opinions its no reason just to bash other peoples choices.
  4. Invite? Just read the 1st page of the Roadtrip posting and call the hotel # to make resv and be there next year.
  5. Hello neighbor !
  6. Looks like we have another Frisco fisherman. Welcome to the forum. PM sent!
  7. Raul, its like the south of the border thing to people in the US and others around the world, if its not native then its exotic. I wonder if people in germany think a chevy is a cool import like we do a bmw of if they just think its a POS like some do in the US. Sorry for being off topic, just couldn't resist.
  8. For $99 its hard to beat the Bass Pro Shop Pro Qualifer. It has their dual braking system that uses both Magnetic and Centrifugal brakes for very precise control. I bought one for my 15 yr old and he was able to cast ok without a backlash after 30 min of practice. He decided he doesnt care for fishing anymore so I'm probably going to sell the reel, it works so well I keep it around for a backup. It is available in 7.1 and 6.4 ratio. Its more than you said you want to spend but its an easy baitcaster to learn on. http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_102287_100001001_100000000_100001000_100-1-1?ordProd=Y&CMID=TOP_selectitems#itemDetail
  9. It probably works if there is no wind and you throw a perfect cast otherwise they would make the claim that it prevents a backlash. But the truth be known and as it has been said here, the best and most reliable cast control is yer trusty thumb.
  10. White grub on a jig with a chartreuse skirt.
  11. Anybody ever amortize the investment in a loomis over 20 or 30 years. Its gotta look good.
  12. If you only fill that spool 50% you will NOT like the result. Im sure the guys on here will post their recommendations. I fill mine within 1/8" of the outer edge of the spool or a bit more if it feels right. Oops, I assumed you were talking baitcast.
  13. texanbassangler, I dont know what part of TX you are in but in the ponds that I fish, whats hot right now are flukes/shad on a drop shot or zoom fenesse worms and craws fished along the edge of lilly pads or weeds in 12-18" of water. The frog is always hot early morning and late evening.
  14. I see your point. I guess I get spoiled cause Im the only one that fishes my neighborhood water so theres usually something new to discover. I do enjoy going to the big lakes to fish and always find it rewarding and more challenging.
  15. Amazing how we're still using the cave man technology, "the thumb". Anyone ever burn there thumb during a cast? The first time I cast a steez I didnt check and had the mag brakes set on 1 and really loaded the rod during the cast. It actually burned a blister on my thumb but I didnt let it backlash. Hurt for the rest of the day.
  16. x2 I don't see a whole lot of fun in it. : fishing is fishing, whether its at a big 20 sq mile lake or a 5 acre pond next to a golf course. A lot of the same techniques apply. The waterfall Im talking about is a 10ft high 25ft wide man made waterfall with a ledge at the bottom that has a 1ft space that goes back under the falls. I used to cast a spinner in front if the waterfall and catch decent 1-2# bass but one day I accidently cast into the water and pulled out a 4#'der. If thats not fun I dont know what is! I discovered they like senkos and shad plastics the best. Best part is that its only 1 block from my house so I can fish everyday. (I also fish at the big local lakes but its a lot more trouble than walking 1 block and the fish are not any better at the lake)
  17. Yep, I thought so. Ive looked at them several times (almost bought one) and if it was as perfect as the marketing hype I would probably buy one. I will admit its probably the closest thing to a flawless cast on the market today.
  18. Until someone figures out how to put a sensor inside the line leveling guide on the reel so it can monitor whether or not line is being pulled from the spool and at what rate and feed that data back to the reel braking system, there will never be true self-adjusting cast control.
  19. I have no control over what a company charges for their products. The marketplace has some say so by the fact that if no one buys the product, the company has to either stop selling it or try lowering the price. No sense wasting time complaining about the price or how a company determines their pricing sturcture. My personal approach to any purchase is simple, if I cant afford it I dont buy it and I dont fault other consumers for buying the product at whatever the price.
  20. I can imagine this, instead of the jig rod or frog rod, they would be referred to as the blue rod or the green rod and the plastics would be the red rod since its the emergency failsafe setup. The_Natural may have started a new system. BTW, so far I like the 1 rod I did with green.
  21. Drop shot from shore is awesome! I created a thread last week with that topic: http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1250704148 Ive caught about 20 nice size bass in the past week using drop shot from shore.
  22. Wow Pantera61, what have you got against a company charging for a warranty? Every company in business charges for their warranty. Anytime you buy anything from a car to a dishwasher it has the cost of the warranty builtin. Im not rich but can pretty much buy anything I want and most everything I buy has at least a standard warranty. I dont buy those extended warranties but consider the cost of the standard warranty to be a reasonable cost of doing business. These no way I would pay the price for my expensive rods if a warranty was not part of the package.
  23. Im not an "enthusiast", I just enjoy Bass fishing.
