  1. If they changed the color on the TDZ it would closely resemble a steez.
  2. Good point, I can just hear that ML rod go snap and/or loose the fish when it goes undercover. I fish weightless trick worms on a ML and have caught some monsters on it, caught some up to 7lbs, and had one over 10lbs till it came off in the grass, not much of a problem. it is a spinning set up, 7' all star with a 2500 sedona and 15lb power pro, I do not believe a ML is too light for bigger fish, just gotta know how to play them Big Mike, In no cover that probably works fine but what if you are in thick muskgrass, thick pads or near cattails? If the fish gets in that stuff, the ML rod will loose that battle.

  4. I perfer the 7.x high speed reels, especially for buzzbaits, its less turns of the handle and therefore less fatique. I still like my 6.x reels for cranking, especially deeper crankbaits, the lower ratio provides more torque. If I was younger and/or didnt have arthitis in both wrist (from 27 years of keyboard use in information technology), I'd probably use all 7.x reels.
  5. I started using a curly tail worm trailer and doubled the number I catch with a spinnerbait and buzzbait. I think I'll try .ghoti.'s suggestion and speed it up and see if that works better.
  6. Would a ML rod be better for totally weightless worms, unless they are senkos which are heavy due to their composition.
  7. J Francho, I know you are an accomplished bass fisherman so do you perfer to crank a fast reel slower or a slow reel faster for buzzbaits and spinnerbaits?
  8. Makes me want to delete my catfish pics, they are babies compared to that monster. Nice catch!
  9. Loomis CR722 GLX Med & Shimano Core 50 7.x w/P-Line CX 12# (most of the time) Steez Med & Steez 103SHA 7.x w/P-Line CX 12# (some of the time)
  10. I use core 50's for spinnerbaits, buzzbaits, frogs and jerkbaits. (steez reels for everything else)
  11. Great lure, catches a lot of fish and since its top water its exciting. Just check the joint screw once in a while, I had one come a part last month when a fish hit it, needless to say the fish kept the backend along with the hook.
  12. Throw'em in the trash! Are you crazy? Next time send them to me. Spinnerbait is one of my favorites. Shallow areas near cover is almost a guaranteed catch. Buzzbait is hot in the early morning and late evening in shallow water, the dinks will nip at it and the bigger bass with attack it like its their last meal.
  13. Do you direct tie your crankbait or use a snap swivel?
  14. Define "sissy" fish, < 1 #, < 12", ??? Im beginning to wonder if it is worth the effort.
  15. Had the same cold front hit here (Dallas,TX) last night/early morning. I had great success with a crankbait early this morning (6:30am), caught about a half dozen 2-3 # and missed/lost a few more, all within an hour.
  16. The Loomis warranty is your best friend. BTW, I called loomis and the replacement GLX will be here in 2 days. Now thats service!
  17. A city pond near me is supposed to be well stocked with Trout and according to the State of Texas they have put almost 15,000 adult size trout in the large pond in the past 6 years. How do I catch these bad boys?
  18. Got 2 BPS stores in the Dallas,TX metro area and 1 Cabelas. IMO, of the 3 the Garland BPS store is the best. I could spend hours just buying tackle.
  19. Ive told people the same thing a hundred times. I guess a had a brain fart when I grabbed the end of the rod. Guess I panicked thinking about loosing the fish. I "almost" feel guilty getting it replaced so cheap. (but thats part of what I paid for buying a loomis rod)
  20. In Dallas,TX area the early morning bite is good in the shallows with a spinnerbait, buzzbait or frog but once the sun comes the shallow bite disappears.
  21. Broke the tip off yesterday hooking one and he went into a cover of cattails. Made the mistake of try to pull it loose, grabbed the rod near the tip (that was stupid) and it snapped. Is there anything about the Loomis Xpeditor service that I should pay attention to so I avoid any hassles when getting the rod replaced?
  22. Heck Im only 47 and I am nearly blind as a bat. That is a great tip, thanks!
  23. Ive got it... the Danco pocket fisherman!
  24. Almost always green/moss color line but thats because I fish a lot of ponds and the line will end up being stained anyway so why bother using clear line.
  25. Steez MF & Steez Reel w/12# P-Line CX
