  1. Nope, Donovan only eats it when momma makes it for him. Don't you pay attention to the advertisements : Whatever he eats I just hope it heals that broken rib so they can beat the snot out of Dallas when they play'em.
  2. He does get wild and crazy sometimes.
  3. 7.1 for me, its less work to slow down that to speed up and the higher ratio is nice when you get'em hooked.
  4. For a beginner its hard to beat a reel with dual brakes, the centrifugal and magnetic combination is very easy to learn on. You can set all the brakes to near max and its hard to backlash. BPS pro qualifer comes to mind, there $99 retail but I bet if you check around you can find one for less.
  5. Why do you think a steez rod would not be as durable as any other nice rod that Ike might use ? Not trying to start a debate/fight but just curious? Im pretty hard on mine and they seem to be very durable.
  6. Casting for me, Steez combo or even more sensitive would be Loomis MF GLX rod.
  7. Steez 6.x ratio baitcasting reel and Steez MF rod.
  8. BPS spinning reel and BPS MF rod, mid priced combo and probably setup with a t-riged black finesse worm. If they cant catch something with that then theres no hope for them.
  9. Its hard to beat a good topwater strike. The best ones could nearly cause a heart attack. I also agree with CWB, "A good hard crankbait bite is hard to beat too".
  10. At night and very early in the morning when its quiet, your ears will tell you when the lure hits the water. You will also develop a good feel for how long it takes but you will also develop a habit when its dark to feather that spool more closely with the ole thumb.
  11. You dont want to catch a cat, there nasty to get the lure out!
  12. I was catching bass one right after the other in the rain and the cat just hit the crank, next cast I resumed catching bass. It was a sweet day.
  13. G.Loomis GLX and Shimano Core 50 MG is not a match made in heaven, it IS heaven.
  14. Shore fishing from a pier at a local lake today and caught a nice 2# catfish on a crankbait. Hit the lure very soft, thought it was a tiny bass. Darn catfish took the enire front treble, had 1 hook in the top and 2 in the bottom of the inside of its mouth, took 2 people to remove it.
  15. I almost teared up when I read that! :'(
  16. If you have a little money to spare, contact Matt Davis at Otterods. He's the rod guru and will offer you a world of choices. I spent over a week communicating back and forth picking out every part and component of a rod and precise customizations. There are also some excellent rod builders on this forum.
  17. SammyLee, if your friend cant join, can he at least bring some of that $700 he won and pay the $50 reg fee? And a big container of some of that great Tenn pulled pork wouldnt be bad either.
  18. 1. Weight/Feel 2. Sensitivity 3. Sensitivity 4. Warranty 5. Looks Natural has a good point though, a lot of people tend to buy what looks cool. Custom rod builders can/should really take advantage of that.
  19. Its a great benefit that makes it worth the price.
  20. When you say you threw everything at them, did you try a 5-6" zoom finesse black worm t-rigged and weightless, fished very slowly. If there are bass in that pond they will hit that. I do a lot of pond fishing and when its dead I always go back to that rig and always catch a fish. It might not be as exciting but it works.
  21. Yep, hes in trouble, started with the imx and already up to the glx. Just starting and he gonna be ruined. Go ahead do it, go for the GLX! 8-) 8-) 8-)
  22. The combo you selected will be great. Get the best you can get, it will help make your fishing experience more enjoyable.
  23. What fishing technique? worm, jig, topwater, frog, crank, swim
  24. Geez, I'm already down to 5.5 oz, I guess the guide would take off another .1 oz and the worm gear another .2 oz. :-? You're down right spooled If they mak'em any lighter, we'll forget were holding anything in our hand.
  25. If you catch a fish with a live meal in its mouth, do you release it with the meal in its mouth or remove it then relase the fish? Most fisherman have caught a fish with a meal or remains of a meal in its mouth but how many of you have caught a bass with a live meal in its mouth and if so do you remove it before releasing the fish? I caught a nice size bass today and it had a live craw in its mouth, the fish had swallowed the craw, it was halfway down its throat but the head and claws were still in the fishes mouth and the claws were moving like it was trying to get out. I released it with the craw inside, did I do wrong?
