  1. Hummmm...Its a good deal but it takes up to 2 months to get the money credited to your paypal account and you get tons of junk email from every spammer in the world. Whatever happened to the good ole days of just getting a discount.
  2. Koopa, that was a great review and has forced me to take another serious look and re-evaluate Yo Zuri for more of my setups.
  3. There are a series of steps you will need to go through. It is limited to "Buy It Now" transactions payed via paypal. Can you list the specific steps? I see some more goodies I want to buy and 15% would be a lot. Does the 15% get subtracted off the selling price when you pay?
  4. Yep, thats me! Frisco,TX is a suburb North of Dallas,TX.
  5. Hey AverageJoeBass, thats a nice looking fish you got there. I gotta get to your part of TX and get me some of those! Im in Frisco (Dallas).
  6. ArcticCat500, way to much hype on the megabass website, not for me. Chris W, if thats the website for Otter Rods then the website is pityful, maybe they think they dont need to advertise and simple word of mouth does it for them. Wish they at least had an email address.
  7. Does anyone have a website or email address for Otter Rods?
  8. Just made my hotel resvervation for a single room. Sat May 1st - Fri May 7th, 2010 (check out Fri at noon) Be there or be square! NO EXCUSES! BTW, I am in need of a boat ride since I dont know the water and probably wont be bringing a boat. I dont mind covering the fuel/food/drinks. Any takers?
  9. Its like dipping for fish, in the heavy slop you can drop down into small openings but you better be ready for action and a good rod helps too since youre probably gonna be pulling up a lot of junk with the fish. Ive pulled'em out of a pond recently with so much covering that it looked like they were gift wrapped.
  10. OK, its the 2nd - 7th, so thats 5 nights at the hotel, right?
  11. Congrats. What plastic were you using? A small shad swim bait about 3" long. Hooked thru the bait and out the top.
  12. This is some cool fishin, grabbed another nice one in 18" of water on the first try this morning. This time he took it hard and ran. Hit it so fast (as soon as the weight hit the bottom) he almost caught me off guard. 8-) Nice having another weapon in the arsenal.
  13. BPS Signature Series is in that price range, a M or ML spinning is a good fit for that type of fishing. I still have a M with a BPS reel as my only spinning outfit. Hardly ever use it but never know when I might need it. Hard to justify an expensive combo thats seldom used. 8-)
  14. Regarding the reference to "tank", I was referring more to how durable it felt, nothing to do with size or weight.
  15. I fish almost everyday with the Steez and Core in both 7.x and 6.x ratios. The Steez is a tight, solid and smooth as silk reel and is the smallest. The new Core 50 is a bit loose (some handle backplay), feels as durable as a tank and for me it casts a bit farther than the Steez. I like the Steez better for slow finesse fishing of plastic worms (texas rigged and/or filpping/pitching) and other lightweight creatures. The Steez smooth operation and light weight makes it comfortable and easy to hold for a long time, especially if its mounted on a Steez rod. The Core 50 is a great reel and much improved over the Core 100. I like it for Spinners, Cranks and Frogs. The small size makes it comfortable in your hand but it still has the durable feel like the previous Core 100 (and other Shimano reels), its as tough as a tank. The price difference is substanial, Steez = $479, Core 50 = $369 but in the end I think that are both great reels, however, if I could only choose one for all purpose, it would be the Core 50 (mounted on a G. Loomis GLX rod).
  16. Very strange, I knew the second the fish touched it but it was nothing like I imagined, very soft and slow, I mean he just took his time and started swimming away. I thought it was a baby until I pulled back on the rod and set the hook, them I made him mad. I guess the fish thinks that suspended bait is just a free meal since he doesn't have to work for it. BTW, what are the best line choices for drop shot when Ive got some big rocks around me. Several have said braid is a bad idea, so whats the best.
  17. Raul, ever tried a CR723, for me it works a lot better than the CR722 for cranks.
  18. Thats an awesome fishing technique ! Its a different bite, I barely felt it, the fish just casually swam away slowly until I yanked and set the hook then he went crazy. Hooked and caught a nice one first try. Lost one the same size the second try, the line broke when it scraped a rock wall. Thanks a heap for all the tips, especially the info via PM from Hammer 4 !
  19. You are correct but when I first started using 7.x reels I found myself crankin in a little extra when I would crank in the slack due to the high ratio and more line being retrieved with each turn so I had to pay attention more at first. The number of turns of the handle are usually less than with 6.x ratios for crankin in the same amount of line.
  20. The 7.1 is nice for quick retrieve, however, you just have to make yourself slow down when worm fishing or working any slow bait. I also like the 7.1 for jigs so I can crank it back in fast when Ive worked it past my target area.
  21. I love P-Line and it WILL pull stumps, logs , trees and striaghten treble hooks. However, Yo-Zuri is softer and less memory. I use P-Line if I plan to change it often but Yo-Zuri if I want to leave it on for an extended period.
  22. If you live near a BPS or Cabelas, you can buy it and if you don't like it within 30 days you can return it.
  23. Raul is correct! Keep adjusting and practicing until you achieve the desired distance but always remember there is a very fine line between a great long cast and an eagles nest. When I get a new reel, even if I already own the same model, I still step into the backyard and do a few test casts just to make sure Ive got'er dialed in right. Mag setting = 3 no wind or 5 with wind Centrifugal brakes = 2 always Adjust Tension based up tackle NOTHING beats practice!
  24. X2 and people that know me will tell you, I am the trash police and will not hesitate to remind others with me to pick and not leave a mess. I use the example that if every fisherman dropped 1 soda can on the ground or in the water, in a very short time the fish would all be dead cause the water would be full of cans.
