  1. I just see most people on here posting about other brands they have. I own a cara t7 as well i love it, a lot of the falcon salesmen seem to prefer the cara of the expert...or at least they say so
  2. Thanks for the advice although I went ahead and bought it after going into the falcon rods store and them suggesting I jump on that deal, if I dont like it I will be able to return it anyways, you can pretty much return anything at academy
  3. I would guess 3/8 but I have not personally ever caught a bass of decent size on a rooster tail, just some little ones
  4. Alright, thanks for the help Bobby, I will be making a purchase from you soon
  5. Ive never used quantum, im personally a shimano man myself, but it just looks like a deal I cant pass up, a $220 reel for $100, thats hard to beat. Would you say a $100 Shimano is better than a $220 quantum?
  6. I live about 5 miles away from where falcon rods are made so they are very popular around here but I noticed not many guys on here seem to use em, but usually go with st croix, kistler, house brands, etc. I was just wondering whether they are not easy to get a hold of, or you guys just dont think they are a good rod. Thanks
  7. atleast let me know what gear ratio I should go with, itll be more of an all around rod, but I think ill be using my spinning gear for worms and things like that
  8. If we go to look at it we will for sure get it looked at by a mechanic. How important is it that we test drive it? what years are the 300 series? Sorry for all the questions, this will just be the first boat purchase for us and I wanna make sure we dont have any regrets
  9. My dad is looking to buy a bass boat. It will be our first so were not looking to spend much. This is the boat were looking at http://oklahomacity.craigslist.org/boa/1243243885.html What do you guys think? Anyone know what year it is?
  10. Thanks for that information. I fish murky water most of the time so would you say go with the gold blades?
  11. Looking to go on a fishing trip with my dad anywhere in the tx/ok/ark/ks/mo are. What lake in these areas are the best producers? Thanks, Jon
  12. Academy has the quantum energy saltwater baitcast reel on sale for $99. I am wanting to get into baitcasting and wanted to know what you guys think of this reel and if this is a good deal? Also, I already have a symetre 2500 on a 6'6 mh falcon cara. I am wanting to use these rods/reels for different purposes. not quite sure what, so I am open to suggestions on that too. If I were to get the Quantum what gear ratio should I go with and what would some rod recomendations be length and action wise? Im gonna stick with Falcon rods because I get 40% off so I am more worried about the length/action. Sorry for so many questions, I am just completely new to baitcasting Thanks, Jon
  13. Would you go with the bleeding bait blades? Also, like i said it may be a dumb question. But is megastrike only used on soft plastics, or do you use it on any other baits?
  14. Bobby, I am looking into getting some cavitrons, what blade color would you suggest? Also, this may be a dumb question but on your megastrike, do you only put that on your plastics, or is there anything else you can put it on? Thanks
  15. I think im gonna go with the yo zuri ultrasoft unless anyone has any other suggestions. What lb test would you suggest?
  16. its an all around rod but I mainly fish with worms, buzzbaits, and crankbaits. Ive used the ten pound pline and the memory was horrible. but at the same time I am using the 8lb trilene sensation and the knots do not hold up and it just feels so brittle when casting. So I am just not quite sure what to go for any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
  17. I went in to bps today and couldnt find any of the ultrasoft. One of the guys told me to go with the lake fork line in 8lb test...does anyone know how that would compare to the yo zuri? Also, would you use 8lb or 10lb test on a symetre 2500? I'm sorry if this has been posted before, I searched and tried to find something similar and couldnt find it. Thanks
  18. thanks for the heads up! I went and stocked up on a few today. Sexy Shad-0.5 DD, 1.5RT, 2.5DDRT Tomato Shad-2.5RT Blue Bream-1.5SRT Purple Shad-1.5RT I might go get a few more, anything else you guys suggest?
  19. I dont have any experience with Dobyn's rods but I love my Cara. They are great rods
  20. Anyone every fish out at the lynn lane reservoir? I went out there a few days ago and had about a 3 pound bass but he spit the hook out right at the ledge on my first cast then not a single other bite for about 2 hours. What do you fish with out there and where do you fish at? I just stayed around the pump the whole time. Thanks
  21. well its the scale, I weighed a gallon of water on it and it only weighed 4 pounds but should way around 8 so I went ahead and returned it. Anyone have any suggestions on a good inexpensive scale? maximum around 30 dollars
  22. I bought a cheap six dollar scale yesterday and tried using it but it was only telling me that the two fish I weighed were only at a pound and I know they were both more than that. I placed the hook of the scale on the lower gill from the outside of the fish...is that the right way to way a fish or is there a better way? or could it possibly just be a very bad scale? Thanks
  23. I live in Broken Arrow where falcon is based. I went into their store and because of the discount i got from working at academy I ended getting a cara for 95 bucks and an original for 45. cant wait to try em out!
  24. I just bought a symetre 2500 fj and was wondering what a good rod in the 100 to 150 price range would be good to match up with it for all around use?
  25. I know the bucco is a brand new rod so there might not be much imput but I was wondering what the comparative advantages/disadvantges to the falcon bucco and falcon original as I am looking into buying a new rod in this price range. Also, what are the advantages of the exposed reel seat and what do you prefer? Thanks
