  1. Ahhh thanks for the heads up! Yeah, as you can tell I am a newb when it comes to boats. How does the 20 GPH compare to other motors such as the Opti or Yammi hpdi? Thanks, VC
  2. No comments! Someone has to have had experience with either the boat or motor! Can anyone comment on the terrible MPG with the EFI...How bad is it? Anyway to improve?
  3. I just put the deposit down on my first bass boat today. She is a 2004 Stratos 295 elite pro xl with a 200 HP Merc EFI. I could not be happier with the deal I got on this boat and I cannot wait to take it out on our first run. Does anyone else have this boat or have had experience? Any neat features that I might not be aware of? Thanks, VC
  4. Yeah, they are a great bait. I have more confidence in my Aruku Shads, but everyone should definitely have a few of these in their box.
  5. NorthStar. Best quality and selection hands down.
  6. Perfectly stated. It's pretty simple stuff. Get a 7'6" + H rod, 50 lb + braid, frog of choice, wait 2-3 seconds after strike, and set the hook as HARD as you can...
  7. That is my opinion on everything SK...don't get me wrong, I do throw a few of their cranks, but only when I know pike or muskie are in the area.
  8. I have never heard this before....It could be a number of variables, but I doubt it's the frog.
  9. Me neither. I took my quiz about 3 weeks ago, so we shall see...
  10. They also eat an outrages amount each day and can wipe out out the bass populations pretty quickly if not maintained.
  11. Like I mentioned, I throw a 1/4 oz in colder waters for the most part. I am rarely throwing a swim jig on a straight retrieve, so when I kill the 1/4 oz size it slowly glides down which leads to a lot of bites in the spring.
  12. I like spro original and popper bronzeye's
  13. All depends on weather, water clarity, and in some cases forage comes into play. I am planning on throwing a Northland live forage bluegill lipless this fall for the most part because this is what the bass are chasing on the lakes I fish and the water clarity is generally clearer in the spring time until the vegetation comes in. At that time, I will start throwing chrome colors.
  14. NorthStar Custom Baits 1/4 oz "New Gill" swim jig with paca craw = BIG spring time females In the spring I am throwing a swim jig almost all of the time...If they aren't biting it one way, instead of changing baits, I will change my retrieve. The big females are moving up from a long winter and they are chasing bluegill on in the shallow like you mentioned. You should clean them up on this setup BTW the big lady in my avatar bit on this setup.
  15. I am not trying to be mean, but did you have a question you wanted to ask? Like were you can find the color you are looking for? What is it? Yes, chigger craws are an awesome bait. I like to use the smaller version for smallies in the river and the larger version deep on a football head for largies.
  16. Amber no question
  17. I don't see you wouldn't have some type of sucess with this bait when bass are schooling, but more than other techniques? That I don't know about...Let us know how you on it, because God knows I would have NO confidence in throwing that bait.
  18. J, I am sorry for your loss of slim shads...they will be missed. that is when I get out my Matzuo baits
  19. Not to turn this into a pike thread, but the worst feeling in the world is when you are throwing a lucky craft plug and you get a nice THUNK, only to set the hook on nothing...Terrible feeling that we have to deal with every time we are on the water.
  20. Bingo And I do agree with previous posts that Big O makes a great jig.
  21. Yeah, for the most part in my neck of the woods we have simple bottom content of much/sand and vegation, with the occasional rock piles.
  22. I have caught over 50+ fish with my favorite NorthStar jig without a chip, but like others have said, I it's more of a confidence thing for me. That is why I always have to buy jig heads in GP and Black to throw in difference conditions..........we're crazy aren't we?!
