Add Cliff Pace to the list.

The 2019 Classic won't be effected. MLF has already said that the schedule will be clear for the Classic and Forrest Wood Cup, although I don't know how any MLF guys would qualify for the Cup next year. Todd Faircloth makes 55, 25 left to go.

The fact that Lucas has liked every MLF post on social media tells me he's probably gone. I'm sure he is trying to be respectful of his AOY win and put a little space between that and his announcement.

My guess is that BASS has a list of names of guys they would send invites out to should they not be left with 80. There are Opens guys who have already said they would be in and guys fishing FLW that used to fish BASS. I don't think they will have any trouble fielding a full roster. I'm really curious to see who is going to be fishing where next year. A few guys have made it known but the majority haven't.

I notice the most difference while pitching.

Back in the day left hand baitcasters weren't popular so we all learned on rh reels. I've tried to use lh baitcasters but years of muscle memory makes it really hard to switch. The balance between lh and rh reels is different and the way you have to grip the rod changes. I can cast, switch hands and thumb the spool while the bait is still in the air, it is just as fast for me to use rh reels. All that said, if you are right handed and can use a lh reel, it makes sense to do so.

You don't have to moisten braid when you cinch it down. I sometimes use a double palomar with slick braids and I have to use pliers to tighten it and I've never had issue with burning or knot breakage. My guess is that you are crossing the line when you tighten it or you just have a bad section of line. Try to make sure you don't get any twist while you're tying and cinch both sides down loosely before you cinch it all the way tight.

I think you are probably right. Adults teach kids how to fish and if the adults are fishing for species best suited to spinning gear, it only makes sense that they would start kids off with spinning gear too. I've noticed that in the south a lot of kids start out with spincast gear, (Zebco's are big in the south) which transition pretty easily to baitcast gear. That's how it was for me and most of my family and friends that I grew up fishing with. We do have panfish in the south but I remember seeing people use cane polls and spincasters to target them. I imagine with spinning gear becoming more popular in the last 20 years, this regional difference is changing to a degree.

I use casting gear 95% of the time, I've used them since I was 8 or 9 years old and I am more comfortable with them. It's also gotten much more affordable to find baitcasting gear that handles light weight well. One thing I've noticed is that people from the south lean casting and people from the north lean spinning, in general.

That rod is only about $300 more than the ones he's looking at. ?

The newer St Croix Mojo rods use the same blank material as the Avid line, not the same blank but same material. I don't own one but it should be a good rod for the money. The Loomis should also be a good choice. I would personally get the Mojo and Tatula SV but any of those choices should suit you well.

St. Croix does run heavy, as many others have agreed. I was really just letting op know that so he doesn't buy a rod that is too stiff. A M XF might work great for that but I would probably go with a ML for casting weightless finesse worms. Pretty simple, he can do whatever he wants though.

BASS is having their AOY tournament this week. I bet the angler meeting is going to be tense!

St Croix has always fished heavier than most other brands, at least in the SCIV and SCV lines, which is what the OP said, even though he only specified "Legend". High modulus graphite also generally fishes faster than lower mod graphite.

Sounds like BASS is trying to make it a tough decision. It might be too late for a lot of guys though.

St. Croix rods generally fish fairly heavy. I would go with a different rod, something in a ML or a M with a really soft tip. If your rod is too stiff you won't be able to cast light baits well.
