Flipping rods are usually 7'6" and longer, have more power per the rating and often have a more moderate action. What I mean is a MH pitching rod is usually heavier than a MH worm rod and worm rods are usually fast to x-fast and pitching rods are often mod fast to fast. Like everything else, it depends on the manufacturer.

They look really good but I haven't had a chance to fish them yet. I will echo that they are smaller than I expected.

The Mojo is built on the better blank and the guides and reel seat are the same on both rods. They seem to be essentially the same rod built on different blanks. They do have a few different models though. If it is important to save $20-$40 the then Bass X will be a good rod. It is basically the same as the previous generation Mojo which a lot of people really liked. The Mojo is the better rod though.

It isn't really like that as much as it used to be. You can get a good BFS spool and rod for under $150. Of course you can also spend $1000 or more for a high end combo.

I use fluorocarbon for those techniques 100% of the time. I feel like it gives you the best connection to your bait because it sinks. Braid and mono will put a big bow in your line when you're fishing deeper water. Fluoro also has great sensitivity. Braid does too as long as your line is tight, you lose that on slack line which you generally have a lot of fishing bottom baits. My favorite fluoros are Sunline Sniper and Seaguar Tatsu. Bass Pro has Trilene 100% on sale for $10.99 right now, I picked up 3 spools yesterday to try out.

I've never experienced that and I have quite a few reels with Orange Seal ceramics but I don't normally run them dry.

I remove a lot of my shields also, the one thing I try to do is make sure to keep them oiled. I feel like they dry out faster without the shields in place. If you run ceramic bearings you don't have to oil them at all.

To the best of my knowledge Daiwa and Shimano are the only companies that design and produce their own reels. Abu Garcia, Lews and Pflueger are all produced by the same company, in the same factory in Korea and their reels are all very similar internally. I believe Quantum and Okuma are also produced by a different company but in the same factory. I'm not saying those companies don't make good reels because they definitely do but I am partial to Daiwa and Shimano. The bottom line is find a design you like that you can afford and you will have a good product that you will be happy with. All these companies make reliable, great performing reels.

I am too. There are giants in that lake, hopefully we will see a couple before the weekend is over.

I don't tie leaders often but when I do I use the blood knot, mainly because it's the one I can tie well, super easy and I've never had a failure with it.

Yeah, that was pretty bad. He might not have known he was live but that's 2 weeks in a row of him saying something he shouldn't have.

They have to cut the weights after the initial qualifying rounds are over. The 2 groups fish on different days that potentially have different conditions. For example, if the weather is ugly on days 1 and 3 and nice on days 2 and 4 the weights could be quite different. It wouldn't be fair for the days 1 and 3 guys to have to compete with the weights of the days 2 and 4 guys because they could be very different. At the first tournament the final day was on a completely different lake, zeroing the weights keeps everyone on an even playing field.

Group 2 is going today and guess who is in the early lead? Jordan Lee. Lol, he is unstoppable right now.

Brent Ehrler is already at 23lbs a couple of hours in. I wouldn't be surprised if someone caught a 13lb+ this week.

Day 1 started this morning. The groups from last week are the same but they reversed the starting order. Group A now goes day 2 and 4 and group B goes days 1 and 2. So the top 10 ended up being 5 previous Elite Series guys, 3 FLW guys and 2 rookies. It will be interesting to see how it all shakes out at the end of the year. The new guys, for the most part, held their own. This next one will be telling as it's the 2nd of a back to back and many of these guys probably aren't used to fishing hard for what could be 15 days in a row with a day or 2 off in the middle and a 10 hour drive between events. At any rate, I will follow the Elite Series and the BPT equally close and am excited for both. The FLW tour on the other hand....

This weigh in is going to be interesting! Clunn and Menendez are within ounces of each other (according to BassTrakk) and if Chris Johnston can catch another good one he will be right there too. The winner will be close to or over 100lbs.
