Spidercast Baitcasting reels
What model of Shimano? Reel Mechanic comes highly recommended and if it is something he works on it might be worth it. If you go the new route I'd forget Mitchell, lots of problems for me on their $50 spinning. I'd maybe try Diawa cheap BC before a Mitchell. Maybe even a Bill Dance or KVD Quantum before the Mitchell

Avatar message
I wanted to put a message by my name of something I read recently but I can't find it again. I thought I saw it in a Bassmaster or Crappie magazine but it could have been in someone else's BR message. It basicly said people who think they are fishing to catch fish just don't get it. I'd just like to know what it said. If it is someone else's screen name / Avatar message then I won't use it but I'd like to know the saying anyway.

Burley and yet another line choice? It might never end! LOL

Baitcaster for Weightless Senkos
I thought I saw once that they highly recommend the Diawa pixy for light lures. You might do a search as I'm not 100% sure.

Anyone use or tried a quality spincast reel??
I checked the BPS website and you kind of have to look close but they list 3 different types of Diawa procaster Spin casts's Is that what G3 fan maybe has Skychimp- sometimes we get all involved with this technical fishing stuff and what you describe is often what it's all about. Just having fun with the kids

new member of shimano posse? need advice
Even though you don't need the rod you might consider the BPS Extreme Stradic combo from BPS. You get the rod almost free. You could use the rod as a spare for something else or you could sell the rod via e-bay on this forum. Better yet you could sell it to me cheap! LOL

Shimano Citica
fish-fighting-illini replied to fish-fighting-illini's topic in Fishing Rods, Reels, Line, and KnotsI own a Pflueger spin and a Symmetre spin. I will try a diawa BC at some point. I have a Quantum older BC but want to start upgrading my BC's. The Curado is just a tad out of my range at the moment. Might be a while yet may have to buy a better rod or 2 first just thinking of what I want to do. Someone please take this baitmonkey away.

West Marine - Do you get a kiss?
Didn't know about the Lowes thing on SS hdwr. I'm a little spoiled I've got a mom and pop sized Ace about 1 mins drive away. Not only doesn't Lowes have ss hardware they never have anyone you can get a hold of to ask for help. Twice it has taken an hour to get a guy to cut carpet!

Shimano Citica
Is this a decent reel for the $120 price tag?

Daiwa Tournament Procaster
You know I've been thinking about trying a Diawa baitcaster and these fit my budget. The graphite frame doesn't scare me that much as I'm not fishing heavy cover and am not catching huge fish typ just 1-3lb LGMB. I might try the higher end one we'll see.

Higher end rod companies
Nicely put RW. about as well as it could be said

West Marine - Do you get a kiss?
Are these very special marine type screws or something other than just stainless? If just stainless I just go to my local hardware store and get what I need.

overhand casting
Blade that would make sense as to why I see all of the big boys on the shows throwing so hard. They must be loading up the rod maybe I'm going too easy with it. I've got the thumb thing down nd cast cast most all others but overhand kills me. I'll give it another shot and post how it comes out.

Higher end rod companies
I don't have high end experience but from I've read on this site sensitivity is a huge factor. You know you have a fish on a high end rod that you would never have felt on the cheap rods.

overhand casting
needs to be a little farther away to be realistic I think. Shorter would be even harder unless underhand. What is it thasat makes it any harder anyway? Any special tricks? Is it better to leave more line hanging or keep it very short?

overhand casting
I can cat side arm spinning and BC and can pretty much put it about where I want it. When I try to cast overhand though it is a bear more so with a BC. Does anyone else have this problem? I'm getting better but it is a slow learning curve. Wouuld come in handy on a crowded boat.

Low press, 1.5" rn & 15deg ovnt drop, probl right?
Nope prob best night of the year, 22 fish in 1.5 hours 20 bass and 2 channel cat. The temp had dropped from around 96 to 80 and a low pressure front had just come in with it plus 1.5" of rain so worst conditions go figure. BTW 21 of the fish on the storm swimbait. Was going to experiment with more baits but thought why? too busy reeling in fish to change

Shimano Sedona 1500-amateur review
You've made the Shimano posse proud ( kind of a running joke on here ). If you haven't met them yet you will just wait about 2 days for the replies! LOL They might even give you a gold star, a big hat and a white horse to ride!

Boat project pic at last
Ya Low Budget otta be my screen name not Russ's. I had 2 legit anchors but one came untied and to the bottom it went. That was about 15min's after my buddies fish basket came untied and went to the bottom. We are thinking of contacting the Boyscouts for not tying lessons! LOL Almost went with the classic concrete/ eyebolt & coffee can setup but had the weights sitting around so I improvised.

She's at it again!
Great post Now if she can program a vcr & can drive a stick then you need to sign on the dotted line ASAP. She doesn't even need to pass the other test ( liking sports ) the liking fishing over rules it. Paula,, Nice job glad you enjoy the sport

Pop and I's trip
Thanks for all the kind thoughts. We didn't endanger KVD and Ike but the trip was worth Dad's face with that 1st 2.5lb LGMB Plus no phone tv or life stress for 2 days has something to be said for it

I hear ya LBH I ran out of tie wraps and haven't gotten around to it yet. Not a messy wiring as it appears, I've got parallel pos wires to the battery it's not in the way. I wish I had wrapped the carpet underneath on the deck but I was trying to make due withtthe carpet I had. Not sure what you mean about the flush mount accesories.

This is a 14' and I was told it was an extra wide. I'm sure it is as it is very steady even with 2 people in it. When I get a chance I'll measure and post. I think the cupholders were on clearance for $4 over the winter. I'm thinking of cutting more lure slots like the other style they have. Also thinking of taking out the center seat over the winter and building a deck for most of the boat. That's a lot of work though so we'll see.
