College
Gopher I've got to disagree on this one. Your GPA is on every resume and every job application that you fill out. Forget about all of the other stuff but to me GPA is the single most important thing you get out of college. Often your reeesume only gets a few seconds of time, if the GPA starts with a "2" it has a much better chance of going in the trash. Maybe not the full transcript but the GPA from it does IMO.

Senko trials 101
I changed the tittle to better reflect what this is about. I went to a different lake ( a tough bugger to catch fish at ) that has very clear water in general but with thick vegitaion to about 30yrds out from the bank. I had lost my orig rig so I took some advice and rigged weightless and did wachy style. 1st cast caught a bass lol. I had a couple of more hookups but had some trouble landing. I only had about an hour to work with. I targeted holes in the vegetation and just let it fall. All strikes were as soon as the bait hit the water so I'm not sure that it was really the senko or not. I will try it again with an off brand to see how it works. For us bank fishermen it opens up some opportunities and is a really fun way to fish. It also adds to the arsenal of choices. I'm going to try the same technique on deep water areas w/o thick vegetation. Thanks for the tips I'll keep you posted.

Broken Fin Fishing Fools
This will be affecting my time on the water but it is not my health issue. My time on the water is the least important thing at this point. My real reason for posting is an awareness thing as this disease gets mis-diagnosed a lot. The disease our daughter has ( Gastroparesis) not too many people have heard of. I'd kind of like to get the word out for people to watch for it as it gets mis-diagnosed a lot. Basicaly your stomach nerve doesn't work right so you throw up everything including water, medicine etc that you take by mouth. The food should leave your stomach probably in 1hr ( ? ) or less. If it does not you get really sick due to all the excess fluids getting sent to your stomach to break down the food. The first time recently this happened was in Jan right after the 2nd college semester start. It took 1 1/2 months ( mostly in the hospital) to get it straightened out. She dropped out of college and seemed ok untill Mid July then it came back again. One week hospital stay and all good to go again. Last sat night it came back again and she is still in the hospital. They've now resorted to a feeding tube and a special iv just to help settle her stomach down. Their is a simple test to diagnose it. The test involves getting x-rays at x min intervals after you eat a few bites. We've asked to have her sent or looked at by a Gasto specialist in Chicago. It will be 3hr trips to visit etc but we want to try to get this solved not just treated. She was due to start college last monday and had to drop out ( again). As a result you have to wrorry about losing health insurance etc. My work will sell us insurance for $300 / mo for 3 yrs so at least we can go that route. The next time the issue of affordable heatlh insurance for all comes up you might look at it in a different light, I know I will.

Michael Vick joke
As a quarterback Vick spends a lot of time running like heck and looking over his shoulder at big Burley guys trying to grab him around the waist! When you really think about it prison might not be all that different for him!! LOL

Pflueger GOLD Medalist Pro Reel anygood?
Hey Weed the bottom line is you got a good deal pricewise on a reel. You only spent $22.99 so as long as you aren't fishing it for a living so be it. If you get a year out of it prob a decent deal, 2 yrs great deal, 3 yrs one he** of a deal. I own a Pfluueger President spinning and it is graphite. I've caught some nice 4lb bass and 5 or 6lb catfish on it. Having a blast with it. This despite buying one size smaller (6725) than I probably shoud have. Now if you are a guy horsing them in out of lilly pads all the time with 60lb braid on it maybe a different story. As far as the graphite for me goes. I'm mainly a bank fisherman which means rocks mud etc so I'm fairly rough on them. I think it was Raul who posted about graphite or magnesium? frames and he said one drop and he had some reel of some brand break. I tend to learn lessons the hard way but haven't had a problem. I'm gentle but I drop mine at times from low level and don't worry about it. I'd prob spend $59 per year forever for the one that I have. The "reel" bottom line is if you enjoy the reel, catch fish and have fun with it that is all that really matters in the big scheme of things. Don't worry about it just go fish with it!

Why is the reel handle on the right hand side?
No big deal anyway but looks like Shimano makes a lot more LH's than most anyone but at least on the Bass Pro shops they don't have 100% LH and RH. They do have "A" left hand option or several options in a series it looks like. IE "Curado", "Citica" Point being lefty's have less choices in the US Or depending on what hand an individual thinks they should reel with lefties have many more models to choose from? Now I've done it here goes the proper LH or RH argument all over again! I've confused myself in the process !!! lol

Senko trials 101
Well it is too early to tell but so far I'm not impressed. In all fairness I haven't used them a bunch. The Culprit worm I had on was still working great so I saw no immediate reason to switch. when I wore it out then I put on the Senko and zero bites so far. I've got it rigged with a bullet weight because that is how I was already rigged. I will try them again and will try weightless eventualy but right now I'm leaning toward going bck to the cheapos. (?)

Lures on ebay not as posted???
You've got a good point Avid on the neg/ neg e-bay feeback deal. I don't go for it though I just do my thing and tell it like it is. I make sure I spell out my side in the feedback and let the chips fall where they may. I'm a buyer only so it is not a big deal for my feedback.

worst bait?
Hey T-rig is that lure generated from all the "Russian" submarine sightings in the bays over there? LOL

Spinnerbait Nay-sayers

Someone Hit My New Car!!!
No offense but those stinkin bicycles cannot have it both ways. One minute they want to be considered a "vehicle" then next minute they don't want to be a "vehicle". Its all about being most convenient to them. They don't want to be crowded on a road and be treated like a vehicle then come flyying up and pass you on the right up next to the curb. I don't know all of the ins and outs of the law but if he is considered a "vehicle" then I'm guessing he needed to have lights on. Florida I'm sure your not 100% out of the woods on this but lets face it the guy was riding like a bat out of heck with no lights on and he can see a car pull up to the intersection. At a minimum he's not too bright. If your car is new you might look into it further. I'd stay away from the touch up paint unless it is just a beater. Maybe try having it buffed first. If your car is newer you might want to think about filing a report with the police.

cooking fish
Hey I love to eat fish but would like to find a healthier way to cook it other than frying. I mainly cook Pollack, some Walleye and some catfish ( probably be mainly fillets) I'd like to grill it. Another way would be to cook it in the oven with some sort of breading type coating ( like frozen fish out of the box). Everytime I've tried fish in the oven it ends up rubbery or smells awful. 2nd ly Can anyone suggest some other mild ( fresh or saltwater) tasting fish? I don't like the really strong "fish" tasting ones. I've eaten cod at restraunts and it is pretty good.

Baitmonkey just delivered my new toys- swimbaits
Awe c'mon T-rig we've all been there at the tackle shop with the bait monkey going crazy next thing you know things are in your cart! Lots of them usually! LOL shad I use swimbaits but have no experience with your exact ones. On the Storms I sometimes just swim them back slow, most oftem I bump them along the bottom, I also swim them slow in very shallow water parallel to the bank.

storm swim baits
Not sure which ones you are using all of mine come in packs of 6 ( for 3"ers) 5 pack I think for larger. I use the swim shad ( the ones with the flat tail perpendicular to the body). I've caught 20 bass on one lure. Only failures I've had was ones that were wore out from too many fish and they tore the hole body right off of the jig. I've only lost maybe one tail in 3 years.

Most humiliating experiance while fishing !!!
Justfishing & Sean nobody is going to top those. Mine is a little more of just plain not paying attention. We fish a mixture of trolling motor only lakes ( cannot even have a gas motor on the boat) and gas motor lakes. It's on with the gas motor this trip off for next one back and forth. My buddy and I were him-hawing around about which lake and decided to go to the gas lake which is 40mi's away. Got all the way to the ramp no less and finishing getting ready to launch when we notice no gas motor! Arghhhh! So it was 35mi's back the the elec only lake for the day.

storm swim baits
SouthB - I never worry about the color but then again I fish in the dark a lot. As far as color goes they make one that looks like a shad, they make rainbow trout colored and a bluegill looking one. I mainly use the 3" size and only use the shad tail. You can add a spinner from generic bins or from a beetle spin to make them more weedless. It's hard to find the exact color that you want but they can be had. If you can't find and want a particular color I've ordered from this place and he is fast and cheap ship http://www.customspinnersunlimited.com/ see page 23 for colors. In my opinion it is the action of the tail more so not the color that makes the difference.

Fenwick deal?
fish-fighting-illini replied to fish-fighting-illini's topic in Fishing Rods, Reels, Line, and KnotsI couldn't pull the trigger Raul, needed to keep a handle ( pardon the pun ) on the budget. Might still get the itch yet though. Raul how would you rate it against a BPS Extreme?

My own challenge plastic worms
I decided to learn to diversify. I made a point to fish T-rigged worms and have had some very good success. Kind of fun to learn something new. My bite to on shore ratio has gone pretty high because of it lately. Have just been using cheap Culprit's or Gander Mtn plastic binners. Bought my first Senkos just haven't gotten around to using them yet.

storm swim baits
They are the first and more often than not the only bait that I use. Color doesn't seem to matter. I only use the flat tail type ( never tried the other tails never needed to. I use the 3" 99% of the time ( not near as much luck on 2" or 4"). I bounce them along the bottom. In a lake with a lot of sticks on the bottom they can be tough but with braided line they can most often be pulled out. You can swim them higher if you need to. I turned 6 or 8 people on to them so far and everyone of em swears by them. I've caught crappie, LgM Bass, Striper, White bass & Walleye all on the same bait. They have a very realistic action in my opinion just like the tale of a small Bluegill or big shad. Let us know good or bad how you do with them.

swimbait beginner
Hey BassB4 I use the Storms all the time. I always use the ones with the flat what I call "paddle" tale. I always use 3'. I've had 10 times the success with 3" as the 2" and 4" combined. The Storms in that size are aroune $3.50 for a bag of six so you can't beat them. It is my number one bait. I've had my best luck bumping them along the bottom & or fish very shallow in the dark sideways along the bank. That can be a problem on lakes with lots of submerged timber so you have to know your lake. I've neve found color to matter. You can often find them on sale for $3. Try a bag and let me know how you do with them.
