First smallie trip!!
So i told myself when i had a decent fishing story i would share it on the forum. With my par, at best, writing skills i will try to word it my best. I went to a local relativley small river, in Fredericksburg, VA to wade for a couple hours and then head to work. I bring my dog with my every monday to fish, and usually tether her up to a tree. There was no tree where i was fishing this morning, so i took some logs and rocks and burried her leash with any debris i could find. I digress. I got out to about waist high and started to fan cast out, as i am not experienced at all, so i thought this was a good starting point. I started at 9 o clock and finally made my way to 3 o cloack and BAM! a hit, a big hit, (at this point i have yet to catch a bass of any sort) i set the hook (so i thought) and started to reel it in, my dog gets more excited than i was, somehow weasled her way out and jumped into the river to get the fish. Somehow, it got away. I lock the dog back up and try for the same area that one hit... another big hit ,another loss. overall, i had 5 hits, and lost them all, due to my lack of experience and timing, and the closest one to me was about 4 feet away before it got away. all in all, i had an amazing time wading for smallies, and i WILL be back to get those little boogers. (with out my dog) I was using 4 in double tail grubs, watermelon color.

I'm going wading for smallmouth tomorrow at a local river (rappahannock) and I was wondering if you guys think the fish will bite on a yamamoto double tail grub with a shaky head hook.. Any input?

Potomac Boating question
I am going to be buying an old jon boat, or possibly an MFG boat in the near future, and wanted to buy a trolling motor (all i can afford now) i'm looking to get a 40 lb motor to put on it, and my question is; would it be able to handle the potomac on a clear day? or am i idiotic thinking that? signed, Possible Gilligan.

baitcasting question
You guys were right on! Thanks, dudes. Haven't correct the issue yet but what was described is exactly what has happened.

baitcasting question
I just got the abu garcia 4600C3 and have been having issues and I don't know where the problem is coming from. Thid has happenbd twice; while I'm fishing I occasionally get an over run. I'll fix the over run and I cast out again but it seems like somehow there is a knot in the spool and cannot pull it out. Am I spoolking it wrong? Casting poorly, or something else. Any input is greatly appreciated!

potomac report
my mistake, this is a potomac topic- I have yet to fish the potomac since I've been serious avout fishing. I fished it at cobb island last summer and caught a skate (un sure of name, but freshwater ray)

potomac report
I'm boatless so I only fish the shoreline. And I don't go out for more than 3 hours at a time (work, kids etc.) But I've been to Abel lake in stafford, locust shade park in dumfries, motts in f'burg. I might be getting a jon boat here pretty soon, so that would help out a ton. I saw a huge bed of weeds and vegetation at abel, but can only access from a boat. I don't have my head down, though. Still motivated and love fishing, despite my lack of success. Glad to see your doing well. Saw you have the summer off, lucky ***.

Dulles Airport Pond
I would also assume it would be highly illegal. A second opinion in this case wouldn't hurt.

Kinami Flash
i was at wal-mart last night trying to fins some senkos, and couldnt, so i picked up the closest thing to it, imo, the kinami flash i went out this morning and lost 4 of them while basting out. i had it on a weighted hook, but i dont think that was it. i had it rigged T-rig style, but for some reason they felt real soft, and obviously were since i lost a bunch. Am i doing something wrong, or has anyone else had an issue with this?

Multi State Tourney
Okay, this may be the dumbest idea EVER, but let me know if you guys would want to do something. I'm thinking a multi state tourney to see which state in the Southwest Division is the best. Here's what i'm thinking so far... -We come up with a date, maybe a week or two weeks for the tourney -We take the 10 (or whichever number we see fit) best fish caught during the alotted time (honor system; a must!) -Determine the winner by highest average, or most weight! Let me know what you guys think, and as some of you may know; seems like Virginia would take the cake on this one!! $#!^ talking (friendly of course) is condoned, and reccomended. ;D
