Bfl At The Lake
Are you guys fishing the BFL? I'm interested in seeing how many BR members are fishing it. I know of one right now...Bruce (bocabasser).

How About A Meet Greet And Fish At Lox On Saturday, 14Th September
Hey guys....sorry I couldn't make it today. My son's birthday and he wanted to do bowling/beach fishing. How did it go out there today?

Lake O...rough
David, Thanks, but it's looking more and more like I am not going to make it Saturday. It's my son's birthday and he wants to go Snook fishing @ the beach, so we're probably going to do that. I'm a little bummed...I've been on these fish pretty good ever since the second week of August. I was looking forward to seeing you and the rest of the BR guys out there. Maybe I can run out there in the afternoon...gotta check the tide tables.

Florida Bass Club September Tournament
Martin, Did you see him? Was it a bass? Big snakehead (10+ lbs) like hanging out at those pipes.

Lake O...rough
KOTG competitor Jeff Justice caught a 9.5 last week and won an open tourney (Bass Busters?) with 28 lbs. Another KOTG angler Noah took home big fish with a 8.8lb fishing Slims tourney last weekend. there's some pigs being caught...

Lake O...rough
I haven't fished Okeechobee since June. Sounds like the offshore fish might have moved into the grass, though. I've talked to several people who did well @ the outside grass, this weekend. I love Okeechobee, but it's tough for me to drive an hour past Lox to go to Okeechobee when 20lbs is winning tournaments at Okeechobee and I'm catching ~20lbs almost everytime out at Lox. I caught three 3lb, two 4lb and a 5lb yesterday at Lox and was home for lunch.

I'm going to try and get out there. I fished Lox all day Saturday and Sunday and my work list has piled up pretty good, so we'll see how it goes...

Hawgtech Customer Service Is Spot On And The New Swept Handles Look Great (Pics)
Grant, Thanks for the generous comments. Robert and I make a point of it to try and give you guys the best experience possible...even when we screw up! That gold matches up really well with the accents on the Chronarch and that Dobyns extreme. Good choice! The blue matches the accents on your Dobyns champion also. You've got some nice looking and great performing setups there!

South Florida
I'm going to keep this one on the down low a little bit. I think this pattern could go on for awhile and I don't see a lot of people doing it (correctly!) I will tell you my approach out there this time of year...I'll target active/feeding fish in the morning (until about 8:30) and after that I am going for reaction bites. The key for me is to first see what the current is doing. I'll check and see where they are pumping out and where they are pumping in...based on this (and wind direction) you can usually figure out the current. Then it's a matter of trying to figure out what the fish are eating and how the current (as well as water depth and clarity) might be affecting the food source. Those fish move around a lot and they are following the bait. You guys can figure out the rest...I'm not the best fisherman out there (by a long shot) and I got it. Usually I'll get 1 or 2 pieces of the puzzle figured out and have a fair-to-decent day. Right now, I've got the whole thing. It doesn't happen often. The fun part is trying to figure it out, anyway. Catching is secondary to the process, IMO. If I wanted to go crank in fish, I'd fish salt water with live bait.

South Florida
I cracked the code at Lox this weekend. Had two small fish at 9:00AM Saturday when I finally figured it out. By 1:00PM I had +40 fish, six over 4lb and two over 5lb. I fished Sunday from 1:00PM until 4:30 and had +20fish, with two 5lb and one 4lb. Of course, this was after filming out there with Captain Shane last week and I couldn't get anything going with the cameras running...

Florida Bragging Rights, Take 3, July 1St - 31St
I never made it out to the "honey hole" but I would guess even that place couldn't compete with the bite we had Sunday at Lox. > 200lbs of bass made it into Robert's boat on Sunday. About 80 fish...a dozen of those over 5lb, and four over 6lb.

Carbon Fiber Handles?
Got it. I have the renderings on my office computer and will send those out as soon as I can. Mike

What's Your Favorite Brand Of Mono Line?
My partner Robert got me turned onto McCoy Mean Green and I just love this stuff. Almost zero memory, best line I have ever used as far as memory goes. It lays down on the spool perfectly. Casts great. Strong. Cheap. I use this on my spook, crankbait rods and I can't imagine ever going to something else. Like most monos, the sensitivity is not great but for spooks/cranks you don't need it.
-
Flipping And Pitching Rod?
I use Dobyns 766 savvy. It has everything I need in a flipping stick. Long full cork handle. Relatively soft tip. Sturdy backbone. Proper spacing between reel and first guide. LIFETIME WARRANTY. It's a little over your $100 threshold but I would consider it. If $100 is a hard ceiling for you I would check out the BPS extreme. Watch mikeyballzz fishing on you tube...before he went to the Dobyns Savvy/Powell he was using that BPS extreme rod. He has caught hundreds of 5-10lb bass on that rod.

Carbon Fiber Handles?
Bmlum, We will be coming out with a new swept carbon fiber handle in about two weeks. It will be less bulky than our current handle. The profile shape is designed to be universal...I've measured dozens of star drag dimensions, and sized it accordingly so there will not be issues with fit. If you want, I can send you some renderings of the 3D design, so you can see if it is something you might be interested in. I think the enthusiast types are really going to like this new handle.

Bait Caster Handle
Buzzfrog, I've got some orange parts in the queue, gonna be another week on those. If you wanted a silver handle with orange nut retainer, I could do that for you now. -Mike

Bait Caster Handle
Buzzfrog, I could do up a Hawg Handle with EVA grips for you. I made one about a year ago and it has been going strong. Send me an email at support@hawgtech.com if you are interested. Mike

Lox
Bruce, I think I saw your partner Mike out there Sunday. Were you with him in the Lake and Bay? I lost what I am pretty sure would have been my PB that day. I stuck this fish hard...my 805 bent in half. She bucked a couple times and got off. About 2 seconds later she stuck her head out of the water, mouth open shaking it back and forth a couple times. Her head was about as big around as my boat's steering wheel. I was sick for about an hour.

Fishing Hats
I've been using the Glacier Glove hat for awhile now and I really like it.

Supermoon Snook Fishing
Snook are awesome. Almost like saltwater bass...we fish for them much same way. Spooks, crankbaits, swimbaits, jerkbaits, jigs. I use my bass gear for them. When a 20lb snook smashes your spook on a calm morning, you better make sure you've used the restroom already.

Most Expensive Lure You've Lost
Very first cast I ever made with an Alabama Rig, I made a massive birdsnest and watched my $25 setup (A rig + jig heads + swim baits) go flying about 50 yards out into Lake Okeechobee. Never made one retrieve with it...

Fishing One Day With Any Pro, Who Would It Be And Why
Shaw Grigsby would be awesome...dude is very funny, versatile and has his priorities in order. One of the best Florida bass fishermen on the planet. Rick Clunn also... the guy is a bass guru. Freaky smart. I would learn a ton fishing with either of those two guys.

Hello Br!
Good to see you back, hookingem. I went through the golf phase myself when I was younger. I still do both, but the percentages have changed quite a bit. I used to be about 90/10 golf, and now I'm about 90/10 fishing. The great thing is that golf and fishing go perfect together. After a bad day fishing, you blame the fish and wish you were golfing where you have more control of the outcome. After a bad day of golf, you have no one to blame and wish you had gone fishing so you could blame the fish.
