  1. Things are really starting to pick up. Been catching good numbers my last few trips out.
  2. Got my Christmas loot in today. Big thanks to Backwater4 (Backwater Custom Baits). He blew me away with what he sent me, it's awesome! I've been trying to get into Jig fishing more lately so this was an awesome gift.
  3. Performance and value are more important for me. I have a Lews Speed Spool Tournament, a Revo S, and a BPS PQ. All different reels all matched on different brand rods because I got good deals on them and they perform well.
  4. I haven't used the Rage Lizard enough yet to say that but I'm really impressed with it from what little I've used it so far. I've caught tons of bass on Zoom lizards but the Rage Lizard is nice.
  5. I'm not that familiar with the area so this map would probably be more help lol. I fished these 3 ponds with a buddy and caught some decent fish. This was about 2 years ago though.
  6. I've fished a few ponds over in that area and caught some fish, especially in the ones where Kernan runs into Butler. There are also some good spots around/in the UNF area as well. It's a pretty good ways from where I'm at though so I don't fish there often.
  7. Watermelon and Green Pumpkin always do well for me around here. Junebug seems to work well also.
  8. Yeah it was a pretty good afternoon of fishing, especially for November. Really didn't expect the fish to be that active. That one that threw my crankbait was a really nice fish, probably around 5 pounds or so.
  9. Just a heads up but wal-mart.com has the Veritas Winch rod for $70. http://www.walmart.com/ip/Abu-Garcia-Veritas-Casting-Winch-Rod/20646886
  10. I caught around 12 ranging from under 1lb to one that was in the 4-5lb range. They were killing the bluegill lipless crank today.
  11. On Chaffee road right where you get off of I-10 there is a Holiday Inn, it's from the pond right beside it. It's walking distance form where I live.
  12. If you don't like it you could always sell the spool you get for free on the forums here or on ebay that way you won't be out as much $. I've heard good thinks about FX2.
  13. Went out to a small pond near my house and the fish we absolutely crushing my bluegill lipless crankbait. I caught around 12 in an hour or so, including this one.
  14. I should be good for monday afternoon,my only problem right now is transportation. I only have one vehicle at the moment that my fiance and I have to share. She usually ends up having it most of the time because I work across the street from my job and she has to drive to work, plus she works later into the afternoon. I'll see what I can do though. I'm about to head out and fish some ponds behind the Winn-Dixie, hopefully this weather hasn't shut the fish down.
  15. I'll be off Saturday but I have some stuff I have to do in the morning so I won't be free to fish until around 11 or 12. My next day off after that will probably be next Thursday.
  16. I live on Chaffee Rd. right near the I-10 exit across from the Winn-Dixie store. I've lived in this area pretty much my whole life and I've heard there are some huge fish in there but I've never gotten a chance to fish it. I usually work 6am-2:30 but mornings would be good for me on one of my days off.
  17. Welcome to the forums! I live right down the road from that Publix center on Beaver street but I've never been able to fish there. Sounds like you have some nice spots. We should fish sometime.
  18. You can get a new Lews Speed Spool for $80 on ebay which is a great price for a solid reel. You can also get the Gen 2 Revo S for around the same price new on ebay. Also a great reel.
  19. I like a 3/0 or 4/0 EWG when fishing around cover but I like to nose hook my flukes with a #2 mosquito hook when fishing in open water. Much better hook up ratio for me plus I like the action it gives it.
  20. Welcome to the forums! What part of town do you fish on?
  21. Pumpkin seed, green pumpkin, and watermelon red are a few of my favorites for clear/light stained water. Junebug and red shad are a couple of colors that have always worked for me in any water clarity. You don't need to get overly complicated IMO when it comes to colors. I've always stuck to the basic rules of light natural colors in clear water and dark colors in darker water and it's always worked for me. Use what you're confident in. A few of my favorite and best producing plastics Zoom Trick Worm (Junebug) Zoom Super Fluke (Baby Bass) Zoom Baby Brush Hog (Watermelon Seed, Black/Red) Culprit 7in worm (Red Shad, Pumpkin Seed) Baby Rage Craws (Bama Craw, Watermelon Red)
  22. If you want a good inexpensive reel with just Mag breaks the Lews Speed Spool is a great choice. They can be had for $80 brand new on ebay. The Speed Spool Tournament is great as well and it has both Mag and Cent brakes. I love mine, you can get them for around $120. I have last years Revo S model and it's still probably my favorite reel. Set 2 brakes and just forget about it. I want one of the new Revos.
  23. Black/Blue bitsy jig with a zoom speed craw trailer.
  24. Man there are a lot of Jacksonville people on here now, I remember when I was like the only one lol. It's good to see, seems like most people here are just into saltwater fishing. Welcome!
