  1. we'll figure something out so no worries. I would hate for Dan , Marc and Cmatthews to all be left out. I would say even if Marc's trollin motor isnt ready he should come anyways and just use an anchor. I plan on using my anchor thruout the day no doubt. When I checked the weather I think it said mid 40's which would be great. Of course its way too soon to know what the weather will really be. Keepin my fingers crossed.
  2. I was thinkin more along the lines of the BCFR863 GLX but I havent ever handled one. I'm not sure if thats gonna be enough rod for me. I have noticed my glx rods seem to have somewhat light tips compared to other rods I have rated similar. I really want something no longer then maybe 7'3 to pair it up with. I'll be throwing alot of sweet beavers and creature baits with this setup. Not so much punchin mats tho, I have a powell 766 for that already and might pair it up with a daiwa millionaire i'ze light 103.
  3. Never thought I would buy a shimano baitcaster but that's why you never say never. I love my Daiwas but they dont make anything nice with a flippin switch like the core has. I needed a good reel for flippin and pitchin and no one else was bidding on this reel. Thought bout gettin a Castaic but everyone says they arent comfy to use all day not to mention they are a bit heavy. I couldnt pass it up for 256 bux brand new. Anyone else use the 100MgFv ? Now I just need another loomis glx rod to pair it up with, any suggestions ?
  4. Thats a good deal, I bought about 7 of the 600 yard spools from them in the last few weeks, I got 8 ,10,12 and 15 pound spools. Its by far the best line I have ever used. I wont be using anything else in the future. You guys better jump on this, plus this line is hard to find to begin with.
  5. Are you using spro type of frogs or soft plastic frogs like stanley ribbits and horny toads ? There would def be a difference in what kinda rod u wanna use for each one. Im gonna be using a 7 foot medium heavy fast this season for soft frogs and a longer heavier rod for the hollow body frogs.
  6. I live not too far from you and I have the navioincs bundle package on my 798, why do you say the Hot maps premium east card has more detail for our area ? Oh and how do I go about gettin the down imaging and is it free ? Shoot I have had mine for probably 5 months now and still havent even installed it yet. I kinda bought it out of impulse since no one else on ebay bid on it, I got it new in the box for $850 shipped, sells most places for 1100-1200 or at least it did at the time. I'll be having it installed late february.
  7. checked the 10 day forecast and it shows rain and snow for that sunday. Alot can change between now and then tho so lets hope for decent weather.
  8. Ya Marc you can invite another boater, maybe someone from your club. I already have 2 other people riding in mine. I was gonna put Cmatthews on your boat but if you cant fit him then I understand. Im gonna try and get Tammies 14 foot jon boat from glen allen one day day next week and bring it to the lake so if need be someone can use it.
  9. I left one gas tank empty and the other has some old gas obviously but I did put stabil in it. Think I will just add new gas to the empty tank and run entirely off the new gas for now. I'll worry bout whats in the other tank come spring when I need both. Hopefully she will fire right up. Also lets update the other thread bout the anna trip.
  10. Not this weekend but probably sometime between monday and wednesday Im gonna go pre-fish lake anna before we have the 1st nova tourney of the new decade. Also have to make sure the boat is good to go since I havent run it in over 2 months. I have a couple lake anna warm side specific lures I wanna test out too
  11. I got no problem with any good folks bringin their boats or coming as co-anglers. Just as long as you run it by me so I know. I wont turn anyone away unless its someone that doesnt know how to behave. I have to decide how we are gonna meet up and at what time. The lake house involves several back roads and turns so it wouldnt the a bad idea to caravan. Maybe we could all meet up somewhere like the shopping center right of the route 234 exit in dumfries. Theres a shoppers food warehouse, target, panera, etc..Its easy to find and maybe a mile from the highway. We could do it early in the morning that way we can fish the morning bite. Altho the fish should be biting thruout the day. Or we could just go the night before. I have 6 beds down there and a sectional sofa that could sleep 2 people easy. Its probably a 3500 square foot log cabin, plenty of room. Me and tammy would sleep in the master bedroom which would leave room for 7 people to sleep there. Knowing how obsessed with fishing Thai is, he would probably sleep on the deck of someones boat just to get that extra edge goin It will take about an hour and 15 minutes to get there from that shopping center. Takes a lil less time when you arent towing a boat but lets be safe and go maybe 75mph tops. Its all 65mph speed limit most of the way down too. We would need to meet at like 6:30 am or so in order to have everyones boat in the water by 8 am. If we do it this way then naturally I will lead the way. The exit we take is the Thornburg exit.
  12. 4 people is a big crowd for one bassboat. Im sure one of you at least can fit in somewhere else . I would hate to hear about someone catchin a hook in the eye
  13. No prob as long as u bring good folks with you.
  14. There's always room for you Marc even if you are a Steelers fan so no worries :. I have someone in mind to join you too. So dont promise anyone a spot on your boat please. I say we go the weekend after this weekend.
  15. I cant do it saturday. And I wanna watch football sunday. So we'll probably shoot for the following weekend. Who's game for the following sunday ? Post up if so. Aaron and quan you guys wanna come and bring your boats then do it. New Angler Im sure you can get on one of our boats no prob but I would bring your kayak as well. The water there is still as glass and its great conditions for fishing with small craft such as a jon boat or kayak. I should have my truck up and goin by then.
  16. My truck is broke right now, not only is it not running but I think I broke an airbag in the rear suspension cuz its sittin lopsided. So I cant decide what I wanna do with it, just dump it for cheap as is and buy something else or fix it. I just been lazy about it really. If someone wants to tow my boat out of my garage and launch it for me then great. My other truck is an older toyota and it doesnt do so well with my bassboat on the back. Im down for goin whenever just as long as someone has a decent truck to bring down and help me out. Last time I was there tho , the water wasnt very warm cuz of a reactor that broke down. I dunno the status now, maybe its all back to normal but the water wasnt even close to 70 degrees when I was there recently. I did talk to CC McCotter at the show last week and he told me exactly where to go and what to throw to catch the stripers and LMB on my side of the lake.
  17. thats funny, I was gonna use that image for my avatar but chose another instead. Great minds think alike, either that or we used the first two images that come up on a google search of mr hankey
  18. ok so 4mr it is from now on. Anywho...I might go up tommorow, I know my friend brent is goin. His friends went up there the other day at 6:30 am and did really well. If anyone is goin somewhere better then lemme know. I wouldnt mind fishing somewhere where I dont have to see Mr. Hankey and his buddies floating by
  19. since these are the primary places everyone is fishing for the most part it makes sense to make a thread. Not sure how warm the spoils is but its where alot of folks fish this time of year so I included it. I dont want to clutter the va fishing expo thread with our reports. But to answer NewAngler- yes that was Marc and I fishin 4mr yesterday. Lots of huge carp jumpin but the only bass we saw were babies swimmin around all under a pound. Lots of vatos fishing out there so that spot is blown up now imo. They keep everything they catch not to mention the constant pressure. Blue plains was holdin bigger fish but not many from what I could see with my polarized Oakley monster dogs. Its gonna be about 60 degrees tommorow btw.
  20. I didnt even see you guys, dont remember seeing any boats near the spoils. Some guy in a jon boat at belle haven told us the spoils was glacier land and to forget about it. So we made our way to blue plains. Never seen so many shad in my life. I credit Marc for doin a fine job of gettin thru all the ice. That lil skeeter did just fine thru all that mess. There was only 3 other boats in blue plains and wouldnt you know my old sea nymph was one of them, couldnt believe it. I shouted over to him hey Im the guy that sold you that boat, too funny. Small world considering the guy lives in colonial beach. Well at least I know we arent the only guys on this forum crazy enough to venture out in that mess, too bad you didnt catch anything. I'd rathe be out on the water and catch nothing then be on shore and catch 4 or 5 tho. Much better practice for someone like me to be on the water and tryin to develop my skillset.
  21. you would think in this economy any retailer or vendor would treat potential customers like gold. Glad I didnt buy any of their rods. They seem like good rods but for another 60 bux I can go on ebay and get a new loomis glx. On a sidenote, went out on the river today with Marc aka RockvilleMdAngler, the spoils was frozen solid so we fished blue plains and 4 mile run. I managed 3 shad and Marc got 2 bass and several stickfish ;D Was very tough fishing today and dangerous drivin a bassboat thru all that ice.
  22. Oh and I just got the BCR893 GLX which is the king of all senko rods. It is amazing altho I havent really had a chance to use it much. I took it out and shore fished with it one day for about 2 hours. Im goin out on the river tommorow but I wont be bringin it since Im gonna be skippin senkos, Im gonna use a spinning setup for that. So I wont have a real report on it for probably another few weeks.
  23. Yamamoto 5 inch senkos vary in weight depending on what color they are. The clearer stuff is about a gram lighter and the solid colors are a lil heavier. Usually around 9-10 grams each. Some of the knock off senkos weigh a lil more and some a lil less. Usually no 5 inch senko style worm weighs more then 11-12 grams and no less then maybe 8 or so.
  24. The show wasnt huge but there was some cool stuff there. I spent a lil coin at the daves tourney tackle display. I was very tempted to buy a damiki rod. I also went by green top and got a bunch of deep diving pointers, some dtt jigs in pbj and a few other lil things. Good way to spend a day indeed. Swindle was cool but all he really talked bout was crankbaits at least the 15 minutes that I watched. Funny guy tho. Crews was a cool guy, spoke to him for maybe 2 or 3 minutes. As far as deals, there was someone there selling pointers for 12 bux and I got some nice jigs for a buck. I didnt however see the $160 cumaras, wish I had tho. Lots of nice custom rods there too. Very tempting .
  25. im headed down there in a few minutes. I'll be wearing an orange north face jacket and a mets hat.
