  1. just looked at woods n water, says he is gonna be there friday and saturday actually. John crews will be there saturday and sunday
  2. It says so in the new Woods n water magazine. And it makes sense he would speak on saturday since thats gonna be the busiest day and he's the biggest name there. I also wanna see John Crews, hes a guru on bass fishing in virginia. I'll see if I can confirm that he's speakin on saturday
  3. I have Direct TV and they decided not to carry versus anymore. Sux that im locked in a contract, I would cancel and get cable again just to have versus network
  4. depending on what day u wanna go , u could ride down with me. Im in woodbridge which means u would only have to drive 40 mins to my house and I drive the rest. I wanna go on saturday to hear the G man speak in the morning. He's one of my fave guys on the BASS tour. Dan what kinda deals u think will be there friday ? I havent been before so I can only go on what I heard. Is there gonna be used stuff for sale ? Or do you mean deals on new stuff ?
  5. So so true. I shopped around the last few weeks and got all of my glx rods for cheaper then top of the line st croix rods. They might not have the same cool handle as the st croix but im havin all my handles split by a rob builder anyways. The glx arent top heavy like the st croix and also hold way way more resale value. I also have a st croix avid and love it, might even get another one when I find a sweet deal on a used one.
  6. Steve, your posts kill me man. Always about those green president photos, arent they? you cant take it with you when you go though... Spend on Steve. you mean like this lmao now steve thats what i call " big baller status", let me know where your gonna be at so i can follow you around some maybe you can buy me a reel or 2! Ill be lucky to get a crank bait :'( dont spend it all at one place!! Or you could get the side imaging humminbird depth finder for 999.00! too funny. I actually already bought the humminbird with side imaging, its been sittin the box for about 4 months. Didnt wanna install it till spring when I can really use it. Cant wait to get it on. Oh and Sam you are right Patrick isnt on the same level knowledge wise as green top staff but he is helpful and just a pleasure to deal with. Alot nicer to deal with then anyone at green top. When I first got serious bout bass fishing early this summer, he helped me pick out the right stuff tackle wise, jigs, frogs, worms, crankbaits, etc... I just like someone with a good attitude, he's also a christian and a gentleman and that means something. I dont buy much at BPS anymore unless its something like a life jacket, battery charger, hooks, fishing line, stuff like that but I always make sure I find him first, he stops what he's doing and comes along with me while I shop. I'm lookin forward to havin a few custom baits made at the show this year and maybe finding someone who can split the handles on the 6 loomis rods I just bought.
  7. my best day was when I managed to prevent my bass boat from sinkin after forgettin to put the drain plug in. I guess it was one of my worst days in a way too :
  8. I agree with you on tackle selection and the staff knowing their stuff. I do happen to like Patrick at BPS in ashland tho. I've gotten so used to bargain shopping online, ebay, TT, that I hardly shop in stores anymore. I remember when green top had 5 inch senkos for 4.99 a bag tho, that deal was tough to beat. I must have bought 20 bags from them that week. Do they sell Dave's tournament tackle there ? Those swim jigs are dynamite on the potomac during the summer.
  9. maybe so Dan but BPS doesnt have much in the way of deals hardly ever except big sales that they have maybe twice a year. Green top is gonna have a big sale startin a few days before the fishing expo so I suppose its worth a stop by there after I leave the fishing expo. I wont hold my breath for any crazy deals tho, I hope Im wrong.
  10. My girlfriend has been several times back before I met her, she actually has been big into fishing for ages. She says its worth the price to get in, I however have never been. I'm hoping there is a Daiwa rep there that knows something bout the pixy type r coming out this year.
  11. Hey I live in a shed with my kitties you dummy. And Ricky is the one who burned down the dang trailer duhh
  12. catchin fish and just being out on the water makes me feel better then money. Havin family and friends is the best feelin. But it's true, you cannot take it with you when you die. So why be a tighwad bout things ? I rather enjoy myself even if it means spending cash on things I could live without. A 50 dollar reel will catch just as many fish but I prefer something a lil nicer in my hands. I dont go out and spend alot on cars, clothes, expensive boats, bar tabs, sushi, etc... I spend most my money on tackle and just livin expenses. I used to dump alot of money into customizing cars and that gets very expensive and not very rewarding. I think the fishing hobby is much more rewarding and cheaper then building a race car that Im never gonna drive anyways or a 40 thousand dollar boat that Im afraid is gonna get scratched up.
  13. my gps shows speed, I dont even pay attention to the speedometer. When you, me and Tammy were in my boat we were doin 61.5 mph and that was thru 2 foot chop and a dozen rods n reels plus all of our tackle. Not too shabby but def not a speed demon. I'll be satisfied when I can go high 60's which still isnt blazing fast but enough to run n gun all day.
  14. I was at Gander Mountain today and they sell a nice 10 foot jon boat for 550 new. Its very light, I lifted it by myself and it's made fairly well. Much better then a kayak.
  15. Steve, your posts kill me man. Always about those green president photos, arent they? you cant take it with you when you go though... Spend on Steve. you mean like this lmao
  16. I want a tundra 4x4 v8 crew cab but dont have 18 grand sittin around right now for a nice used one. The sequoias are just as nice and have more room to put rods in not to mention they hold less value so u can get a used one for less then a tundra. But even still we're talkin 14 grand and I just dont have that to spare right now and I never finance vehicles. All I could spend if I sold my expedition for 5 grand would maybe be 10 grand and I cant get any nice toyota for that much unless its 2 wheel drive, manual or regular cab. So imma have to have the truck towed tommorow and then fixed. My warranty covers towing and dependin on whats wrong I may not have to pay much to fix it. Hopefully its something simple. Last time it was a coil pack gone bad and it wasnt covered so I had to pay out of pocket 300 bucks. Maybe by this time next year I will have a toyota and then I'll never have to worry . I did go to the lake today to install my 3 bank charger on the boat and plugged it in. Once I get back down next week the boat should be good to go. I heard one of the reactors was down so the warm side has gotten cold. The water around my house was not warm like it usually is. So the fish are either deep or near the dikes. No flippin around boat docks till the water warms up. I didnt see one bass today in front of my house and I usually see at least a couple.
  17. Green top has a great selection but their prices suck. I rather buy my stuff online then waste my cash there. If they have a sale their prices still wont be any better then online prices. The only thing they are good for is some of the smaller less known tackle companies that are hard to find.
  18. we loaded all of our rods and reels and gear into my truck and then everything went down hill. I started my truck and it stalled. So I started it again and kept my foot on the gas for it to warm up and when I let off after 20 seconds or so it stalled again. No matter what I do its stallin on me. Its not the battery or alternator, I have no clue what it is. All I know is my new years started awful. I cannot get this stupid Ford to run. This is the second time I have had problems with it and I only bought it in August. This will be the last domestic vehicle I buy with the exception of maybe a corvette one day. I should have bought a Toyota Sequoia like I wanted, lesson learned. American vehicles are junk and always will be. And even if I can get it to run, who knows if it will leave me stranded at lake anna , or if it wont start and I cant get my boat out of the water as a result >
  19. I'll be there on friday or saturday with my buddy brent. I'll make sure I have at least a grand to spend incase I see anything I have to have. Im plannin on findin more deals at the hillendale flea market in february tho. Cant wait.
  20. Kinda short notice but if any boaters wanna join us tommorow lemme know. Me and my buddy are headed out early tommorow morning and coming back around 9pm maybe. Thai is also coming and maybe fishing out of aarons boat, if aaron cant make it then Thai is fishing with us in my stratos so I dont wanna promise anyone else a spot in my boat. Ppl have been killin the bass on dike one with carolina rigs. I also know of at least a dozen good tree laydowns that should be loaded right now. We will also be goin back mid next week. I just wanna get down there and get the stratos out of the garage and make sure the crankin battery is still good. This is more of a trip to fish the late afternoon/evening bite but we might catch the tail end of the morning bite as well. Post up or pm me if you have a boat and u wanna follow us down in the morning. We will be launching out of my community ramp even tho Im waterfront, I have no ramp on my property. But the ramp is less then a thousand feet from my house so no worries.
  21. River2Sea makes one called the bubble walker and its great for the money. Got mine from ***. I also bought a sebile *** and sebile ghost walker from TW but havent had a chance to use them yet, they been sittin in my tackle box lookin pretty for probably 4 months now.Once the topwater bite gets good again in the spring Im gonna be playin with all 3 of these lures alot in the morning when Im not throwing 1/8 ounce buzzbaits.
  22. wow I didnt realize my thread was still alive. The cost was 5300 bux, he wanted 6 grand. I could have spent a lil more and gotten something newer but this was in better shape then the mid 90's stratos I looked at. I test drove this boat in some choppy water on the james river, mind you it was my first time actually drivin a big fiberglass bassboat and it was flawless. Couldnt ask for a better ride for the money. I admit goin low 60's mph gets old fast but for now it will do. I just bought 3 loomis glx rods tonite and a steez last week so that jackplate and prop will have to wait till march or april. I am having an 8 foot pro model power pole installed tho soon. Just dont know how its gonna work out with no jackplate on the boat since thats where it gets installed. Its sittin in my garage under the sumbrella cover I got for it , havent taken it out in a month. Im actually bout to buy a small plastic pond bass boat like a bass raider or pond prowler to focus on smaller bodies of water over the winter.
  23. Im pretty sure the Pantera IV is the heaviest of all the panteras made which means good ride quality in rougher water. The skeeter is probably faster but isnt built as nice nor does it probably ride quite as nice. If you're buying new then get a basscat, the service is the best in the biz. An optmax would make the pantera even sweeter.
  24. This wont be the only time I fish Anna this winter. We will go on a weekend too sometime in jan-feb.
