Bigs

If you're gonna be storing your rods and reels on the boat then a big rod locker is important. But if you arent then dont worry bout it. I have 2 massive rod lockers on my 20 foot stratos and they have never seen a rod, I just use them to store life vests and random stuff. I strap 5-6 rods n reels on each side of the deck when I go out fishing. When Im done and I go home, I take the rods n reels inside with me, simple as that. And btw, you cannot go wrong with a stratos, its the most bang for the buck in terms of quality boats. You could get something like a nitro but it's not gonna hold up over the long run like a stratos will. Good luck

nah that wasnt me , i wasnt there saturday. What u had on your line was probably some of those monster catfish. Ppl catch 50 pounders down there all the time. Also could have been a huge carp. Not worth breakin a nice rod over tho. Im goin back down tommorow morning with my friend Brent. Brent and Thai are the two ppl that inspired me to shore fish this winter. So Im workin on my worm/jig game as well as learning the art of the jerkbait. I'll be a better angler as a result come spring time. I'll be out on my stratos 5 mornings a week come spring. Gonna be dividing my time between the Potomac as well as the Chickahominy and James river. I wanna do it all this year. I hear the buzzbait bite on the chick river is insane and I love my buzzbait fishing. If anyone wants to join us tommorow then lemme know. I plan on catchin a dozen bass tommorow in the few hours Im there.

wow no sale on lucky craft stuff, that was one of the few things that would draw me to that sale. All those discounts are on par with what dicks sporting goods and gander mountain are doing right now but of course with a larger selection. I dont need any soft plastics so I might just pass on the green top sale. The jackall stuff is tempting but thats a long way to drive to save a few bucks on a few lures. I'll just stick with ebay for now, I been findin sick deals on there. I'll be at the show on friday so I guess I'll see you there Dan. Anyone wanna ride down with me then lemme know, me and my buddy Brent are goin so I have room for 2 more people.

I dunno how warm it was but alot of fish were jumping one after another the entire time I was there . So I figured I had nothing to lose tryin one. There must have been between 1-2 thousand fish there along a 300 foot stretch. I saw hundreds of bass between 1-2 pounds and tons of crappie and bluegill. I also saw maybe a dozen or so bigger bass between 3-6 pounds swimming around. I couldnt do anything to get their attention aside from one that got off 3 feet from shore. The water was clear all the way to the bottom. Tide was very low too.

Ya I have to think this jerkbait bite is gonna be deadly all winter so imma stick with it. Im all bout it now. I enjoy throwing jb's more then anything else right now. So is the best action for a jb rod fast ? I know loomis jb rods are all fast and I have a crucial I bought that just happens to be mh fast as well as an avid mh fast. Think I should give it a try ? Is there any need for a special jb rod ? Today was the first time I ever fished a jerkbait so I need to be schooled. I think I did ok for my first time tho. Wish that 4 pounder wouldnt have gotten off tho >

I did ok for the two hours I was out there. I spent more time cutting off one lure and retying another then actual fishing. I caught one as soon as I got there on a 4 inch white silver flake senko. Tried the spinnerbait, topwater popper and jig before finally the lucky craft pointer78. I must have missed 3 or 4 and ended up gettin 4 fish on it, so five total. One was a bluegill tho and one a crappie so those dont really count.

I spent way too much lately on steez, rods, etc.. I probably won't make any big purchases at the show. But if green top has some sick deals , that's a different story. I think Im gonna go on friday and avoid the snow on saturday and sunday. If it doesnt snow then I will change my plans cuz I wanna see swindle's seminar. Who's goin , when and where is everyone meetin up ?

Oh I thought the BPS sale was in the spring. I have little faith that BPS sale is gonna be any good, I hope Im wrong. And what kinda discounts can we expect from green top's sale ?

Oh I know you guys are just messin with him, everyone is pretty close around here. I just think a dink has different meaning in the winter. In spring that would be a dink but in this weather and fishing from shore I think that one is respectable. Thats not to say there isnt way bigger fish to catch right now but I respect anyone that can catch anything right now when theres 25mph winds beatin the tar out of you

I dunno, I think thats a decent qaulity fish he caught yesterday all things considered. I wanna see some of you other guys get out there with 10 degree wind chills and even catch one that size. This is tough fishing and Thai is one of the only ppl brave/crazy enough to tough it out. I think my fishing partner Brent took that pic of Thai. Like I been telling Thai, this guy knows his stuff and knows where the fish are. He just doesnt go around posting on forums, and telling everyone.

even tho Abu doesnt make anything in the same league as a steez, I still think he will catch just as many fish. I know guys with 50 dollar reels that will outfish most people. Rod's probably have a lil more to do with catchin fish but even still, look at skeet reese, his rods are junk and he outfishes everyone. And to even imply that Abu is above shimano is just flat out ignorant. Daiwa and shimano make all their 170 dollar plus reels in Japan for the most part, Abu charges you 200 bux for a heavy revo that is made in Korea ? Umm ya. Bass pro shops has 100 dollar reels that are made in korea. I am a daiwa man but I know shimano and daiwa are pretty much equal, it's like comparing bmw and mercedes. Different strokes for different folks but plz dont even mention abu in the same breath as daiwa and shimano. Oh and if you really think for a second that KVD's reels are stock then you're crazy, those reels have to be tweaked big time. No reel of that qaulity could stand up to 300+ days of fishing a year like KVD does. Im sure he goes thru new reels all the time but they couldnt be stock.

My fish count started today. I was out there for maybe an hour or so. So far one bass for the year ;D lets hope it doesnt stay that way for long. Got mine out there with Thai today on a 1/4 ounce bitsy bug jig with a bitsy craw trailer. Felt good to get a fish on my new steez/glx combo PS: I just ordered three 600 yard spools of yo-zuri ultra soft, 8,10, and 12 pound test. They got it at Cabelas Thai incase you decide to order some

Thats a dang shame. And too bad the ike rods arent all that great to begin with, he never did have an ike model reel so I doubt abu will put one out but ya never know. I'll pass on that abu stuff since its all made in korea, I only fish japanese reels.

just ordered a set of the 1/2 and a set of the 3/8 ounce. Gonna go to dicks sporting goods right now and see if they have something similar I can use tommorow when we go out. If they have something close then I will get one for you to use also. Altho it sounds like they might vanish fast out there.

I wanna go with you tommorow but my girl is takin the lexus to work and my truck is still down. What time are u goin anyways ? She said I can drop her off and pick her up after. I wanna try out all these glx rods I just bought and the steezes too. Is that a silver buddy u were throwin ? Do u have an extra I can use ?

Xmas trees do work well for crappie , not so much for bass cuz the branches are too close together but for what u wanna do no prob. U could also sink some freshly fallen hardwood too , alot of guys look for trees around a body of water and throw 'em on in. Im gonna be doin it soon but using cinderblocks rather then mix up a bunch of concrete, the xmas trees might rot down there after a while but its better then wasting the trees and just throwin them out. I found a local xmas tree stand thats basically abandoned and theres at least 30 trees there I would guess. Gonna go back with my truck as soon as it gets out of the shop and remove those poor unwanted trees.

Used to have WFN at the lake ann house on dish network. I would sit there and watch for like 5 hours straight sometimes, I would completely forget to go out and fish while I was down there cuz I was so busy watching. I would get it but im cheap when it comes to paying for channels and they charge extra for it on direct tv. I should call them and gripe about versus and how I want free WFN.

I got dibs on at least one kid, put me down for two if possible, the gift might be something neat like a zebco spiderman fishing pole
