  1. I'll probably end up with a custom built rod for the steez, Im really feelin carbon fiber. Unless a sweet deal on a glx or steez rod comes up which I doubt will happen. Im hopin theres some nice stuff at the upcoming bass shows in richmond and dale city in february. Send me a pm with details on the kistler tho, maybe for one of my fuegos I could use it.
  2. I was so bored a few minutes ago that I went on ebay and bought a brand new steez 103ha ;D I really shouldnt have but santa told me in a dream to buy it for myself since Im too old to milk my folks for it. What are you going to pair it up with? If it doesnt weigh less than 5 ounces than it defeats the purpose of buying the 103ha.... I have the perfect rod for sale for the Steez and it only weighs 4.25oz........ and what would that be ? Perhaps a steez rod or a glx ?
  3. ok heres the facts a) I'm old I'm fat c) I'm lazy d) Thai is none of these things so why would I wanna go and shovel snow

  5. well I was gonna go down to lake anna early tommorow morning and check my mail, do a few things and throw the stratos in the water but now my plan has been foiled. Altho the boat is already down there in the garage and I do have an all wheel drive truck. Very tempting. Oh and my cough is almost gone and Im feelin alot better. what to do.....Theres gonna be 12 inches or snow down there. The main thing keeping me from doin it is that I have to move the golf cart and tractor out of the garage to get my boat out and that might be a challenge with 12 inches of snow in my driveway . Anyone have a snow blower ?
  6. I wish I had some insight on this topic. I bought a 798 pre loaded with the navionics bundle package a few months ago but its still sitting in the box till I install it in a few months. Im curious tho how its gonna do on the potomac. Altho once I move next summer imma be fishing the potomac less and central va spots more.
  7. Thats the part of the spoils that I wanted to fish last time we went out but Thai said there was no fish over there. I knew it, oh well. Nice fish tho
  8. probably no fishing for me this week but I am sending my daiwa pixy to this guy and hes upgrading it to a pixilla. Who do you use Dan ? Local?
  9. I was just thinkin the same thing. Nice lil boat tho. I had a similar aluminum boat with a 45hp merc and it got around nicely close to 30mph.
  10. Thanks guys , much appreciated. Im sure the bite is pretty decent out there right now. Tommorow is supposed to be around 50 degrees down there , wish I could get down there. BTW how do those crappie out of the occ/potomac taste ?
  11. Dont worry Thai I havent forgotten. My truck was out of commision for the last week and a half. It started acting up the day I took my boat to lake anna and just got fixed yesterday. And now the lexus has a flat and is sittin in my garage. Tammy took the truck till tuesday or wednesday to richmond so I am without a vehicle till then ! Not to mention I am still coughing everyday from gettin sick in August! Im a lil apprehensive bout sittin on the lake for 4+ hours in 40 degree weather till I start feeling right again. I just need to get back to 100 percent, as bad as I wanna get out there.
  12. make sure you guys post up later when youre done. Im curious how the cold weather bite is right now. I miss fishing, havent been in a few weeks. My truck needed work so I couldnt have towed my boat anyways, just got the truck back yesterday so maybe I'll head down to lake anna soon for some warm water action.
  13. Thats funny. I live about 35 minutes from the seller. I sent him a message yesterday and asked how much picked up local and he said $175, I thought about it but decided to pass on it. Nice reel tho.
  14. I'm done with the Potomac for the year. Put my boat in the garage at lake anna yesterday and it will only come out once or twice to fish there this winter. I'll get back to serious fishing come March. Gotta focus on makin money for now, plannin on movin and buyin another house come springtime ;D
  15. This man speaks the truth. I went to at least 6 or 7 seven weigh ins this summer for warbirds and LAPR and seen many a teams come in second or third place with 23+ pounds. Its common to see guys come up with five fish all over 5 pounds. The LAPR is Dave Fauntelroys tournament and he is the best in the business and a very kind person as well. His weigh ins have set the standard for all other local tounreys. Teri Olinger who owns warbirds puts on a good tourney also and alot of pros fish both these events so be warned. You got guys like Rich newton and Tank mosely to contend with, they aint playin games out there. You better know where to go and what to do or your wasting your time. Also very expensive to fish those events. The payoffs are good tho. I know a guy by the name of Justin Thompson who fishes warbirds shootouts and he made somewhere around 9-10 grand this year in winnings and his team only finished around 8th place or so, goes to show you how much cash you can win. I plan on fishing a few of them next year. My fishing partner Brent has won many a tourneys out there on the club level so we plan on tryin to cash a few checks. You gotta have money tho as it gets very expensive.
  16. my daiwa pixy hasnt arrived from japan yet or I would post a pic. probably gonna be havin about half a dozen rods custom built but wont be for another month or two. For now I will just enjoy rod/reel porn. I also see myself becoming more of a tackle/gear junkie then a fisherman
  17. Finding those brush piles is cake if you have the right electronics. So people can find it on a first outing if they cruise around the lake enough. It's not like its that big of a lake compared to somewhere like Anna. How many acres is it anyways ?
  18. high tide is around 4pm. So Im gonna launch around 1:30 and fish till 5 or so.
  19. I had the option to go fish the birthday cake for striper tommorow totally free of charge but I think Im gonna take my boat out tommorow and head right over to mattawoman creek for a few hours. I dont feel like having to get up at 5 am to be down south by 6 30 to fish. Its gonna be low-mid 60's tommorow hopefully. See if I get lucky. If you're down to fish thai lemme know. Its a pretty stress free launch and load at leesylvania every time and mattawoman is only a mile from the ramp.
  20. tommorow its gonna be 67 degrees and sunny at lake anna, only 63 here tho. Im temtped to head on down there but cant decide whether I would rather hit the potomac instead. Global warming anyone ?
  21. buzzbaits, spinnerbaits and sometimes worms/grubs. This is the time of year to fish slower so my daiwa crazy cranker has been gettin alot of action. I plan on gettin another one so I can keep one on my crankbait rod and one on a worm rod. The crankbait rod doesnt work as well ripping spinnerbaits free from grass, I fish mostly grass bed areas.
  22. for what the steez costs you could get a daiwa pixy instead from japan and supertune it to pixilla specs. There are several on ebay right now. That reel will perform as good if not better then a steez. And end up costing you less too. Just some food for thought.
  23. Happy Thanksgiving to everyone out there especially my DC/MD/VA folk. Happy Festivus too. Gonna be going to down to Ashland to be with my gf's family since my folks are down in costa rica for a month. Should be about 50 people like there was last year at her family's gathering. This means I will become even fatter then I already am. My selections for the day shall be, ham, stuffing, various sides and of course pecan pie. I'm not a turkey guy altho my gf calls me a turkey sometimes Please be safe out there guys and drink responsibly.
  24. well hopefully I will luck out and pay nothing. I just won an auction on a daiwa orange pixy. I'd hate to have a hefty tax added on what I already paid. Bad enough I have to pay 18 bux shipping for a reel. I've shipped reels thruout the usa and its never more then 5 bux.
  25. 7 fish between all 3 of you ? That would be a mediocre day anywhere else but not bad for burke lake. Any pics ?
